Local Access (Via USB Mouse)

Operations of the Operation Panel When right clicking the mouse, the operation

panel representing the front panel (Monitor

control and camera selection buttons on the

front panel) of the recorder will be displayed.

Multi-screen – Press this button to cycle through available multi-screen patterns

OSD – Press to turn ON/OFF the on screen display information showing camera title, time date etc.

Sequence – Press to turn ON/OFF camera display sequence operation

Monitor – Press to choose between which monitor you want to operate - Monitor 1 and Monitor 2

Move the mouse cursor over a button or tab

then click the left mouse button to select the

operation.

If no mouse action is performed within 3sec

the mouse cursor will disappear. The mouse

cursor will reappear when the mouse is

moved.

Operations of the Sub Menu

The submenu can be displayed by clicking [S Menu] button on the status bar

This submenu window is the same

menu that is displayed when

operating the buttons on the front

panel.

Menu Selection – Click any of the menu buttons. The panel of the selected menu will be

displayed

Close the Submenu Window – Click the [X] in the upper right corner.

Tab Selection – Click using your mouse on the desired tab

Move the position of the panel – click the position button. Each successive click will move

the window clockwise to each corner of the monitor

Operation on the panel – Panels can be operated by clicking the various tabs on the panel

including the arrow buttons

Close Panel – Click on the [X] upper right corner of each panel

Numeric Buttons – Selects the camera for viewing on monitor

Local Access (Front Panel)

Operations of the Front Panel

Multi-screen – Press this button to cycle through available multi-screen patterns

OSD – Press to turn ON/OFF the on screen display information showing camera title, time date etc.

Sequence – Press to turn ON/OFF camera display sequence operation

Monitor – Press to choose between which monitor you want to operate - Monitor 1 and Monitor 2

Numeric Buttons – Selects the camera (1-16) for viewing on the monitor

Operations of the Sub Menu

1. The submenu will be displayed by pressing the [SUB MENU] button on the front panel

Menu selection

Move the cursor using the arrows button ,

and then press the [SET] button. The panel of the

selected menu will be displayed.

Close the submenu window

Press the [SUB MENU] button or the [ESC] button.

It is also possible to close the submenu window by

pressing the [SET] button after moving the cursor

onto the [Close] button.

Tab selection on a panel

When a number (1 - 4) is provided for

the tab name, press the camera

selection button (1 - 4) to select the

tab. When no number is provided for

the tab name, press the [SET] button

after moving the cursor using the

arrows button

Operations of the Sub Menu

1. Press the [SUB MENU] button on the front panel

2. The sub menu panel

appears on the monitor

-The submenu will only

appear on monitor 2 output.

(see page 4 for selecting

monitor 1 or 2).

Camera control

The camera control panel and the camera menu

panel will be displayed. It is possible to control a

camera, such as panning/tilting, preset position

movement, on the camera control panel. On the

camera menu panel, it is possible to operate the

camera setup menu.

El-zoom

The electronic zoom panel will be displayed. It is

possible to enlarge images from the camera and to

move the angular field of view.

REC & Playback

The recording/playback panel will be displayed. It is

possible to perform operations relating to recording

and playback.

* * The recording/playback panel cannot be

operated using the buttons on the front panel of the

recorder.

Go to last

The latest recorded image will be played.

Playback will start from the point set in

advance of the latest recorded image.

Search & Copy

It is possible to perform operations relating to

search and playback as well as copying of data

(onto a DVD or a SD memory card), etc. The

search conditions panel or the data copy panel

will be displayed. It is also possible to cancel

the search filters and to validate the DVD eject

button from this menu.

Setup Menu

The setup menu will be displayed.

Logout

It is possible to log out from the recorder from

this menu

Monitor Live Images from Cameras

Select Monitor 1 or 2

Display Images on a 1-Screen

1.Press the [MONITOR] button

- each time the monitor button is

pressed the monitor LED will light to

indicate which monitor is selected

1. Display the operation panel by

right clicking then pressing the

[MONITOR] button

- The monitor number will light to

indicate which monitor is selected

NOTE: When monitor 1 is selected, the indication “Monitor 1

selected” will be displayed on monitor 2. During the indication

“Monitor 1 selected” is being displayed, monitor 1 can be operated

using the operation panel displayed on monitor 2. THE

OPERATION PANEL WILL NOT BE DISPLAYED ON MONITOR 1

1.Press the [MONITOR] button

- each time the monitor button is

pressed the monitor LED will light to

indicate which monitor is selected

2. Select the camera channel

pressing the camera selection button

[1-16]

- The camera selection button will

light and the live image will be

displayed on the selected monitor

Monitor Live Images from Cameras

Displaying a Sequence of Multiple Cameras

1.Select a monitor to display the

multiscreen

- Each time the button is clicked, the

multiscreen pattern will change.

3. To display a 1-screen, do any of the

following:

- click the camera selection buttons (1-16)

- Click a segment of the multiscreen.

(When the screen is clicked again the

multiscreen will be displayed).

1.Press the [MONITOR] button

- Each time the monitor button is

pressed the monitor LED will light to

indicate which monitor is selected

2. Press the Sequence [SEQ] button.

-The sequence display will be displayed

according to program settings.

- The [SEQ] button will light during the

sequence operation

1. Right click the mouse and bring up

the display panel

2. Click the [SEQ] to begin the

sequence display.

Display images on a Multiscreen

2. Press [MULTISCREEN]

- Each time the button is pressed the

screen pattern of the multiscreen will

change

3. To display a 1-screen, press any of

the camera selection buttons (1-16)

1. Right click the mouse and bring up

the display panel

2. Click the [MULTISCREEN] button

3. To stop the Sequence display press

[SEQ] button again.

To resume the sequence display press

[SEQ]

-The sequence display will be displayed

according to program settings.

- The [SEQ] button will light during the

sequence operation

3. To stop the Sequence click [SEQ]

button again.

Playback Images

Display recorded images on the monitor

Step 2.

Select the camera channel by pressing the camera

selection button (1 - 16).

→The selected camera selection button (1 - 16)

will light.

Step 3.

Press the [PLAY/PAUSE] button.

→The [PLAY/PAUSE] button will light and

playback of images recorded using the selected

camera channel will start.

Step 4.

To stop the playback, press the [STOP] button.

→The [PLAY/PAUSE] button will go off and

playback will stop. Playback on monitor 2 will be

switched to live image display

Step 2.

Click the [S.Menu] button.

→The submenu window will be displayed.

Step 3.

Click the [REC & Playback] button.

→The REC & playback control panel

will be displayed.

Step 4.

Click the [Play] button.

Step 5.

To stop playback, press the [Stop]

button.

→Playback will stop.

Playback on monitor 2 will be

switched to live image display.

playback images.

Pause [PLAY/PAUSE] button • Playback will resume when this button is pressed during

pause.

• The [PLAY/PAUSE] button will blink during pausing.

Frame by frame playback Jog dial (Inside) • When rotating the jog dial (inside) during pausing, frame

/Reverse Frame by frame by frame playback/ Reverse frame playback will be

Playback performed.

• When rotating the jog dial clockwise, the next frame will be

displayed. When rotating the jog dial counterclockwise, the

previous frame will be displayed.

Fast forward/Fast rewind Shuttle ring (Outside) • When rotating the shuttle ring (outside), the playback

speed will change (1/2x, 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 20x) according to how

much (angle) the shuttle ring is rotated.

When the playback continued at 20x (rotated the shuttle ring

to the end) for 5 seconds, the playback speed will change to

50x.

When the playback continued at 50x for 5 seconds, the

playback speed will change to 100x.

• When rotating the shuttle ring clockwise, fast forward

playback will be performed. When rotating the jog dial

counterclockwise, fast reverse playback will be performed.

When the shuttle ring position is returned to the normal

position (center), the playback speed will return to 1x.

Hold playback speed [HOLD] button • When the [HOLD] button is pressed while rotating the (Fast

(Fast forward/ shuttle ring (outside) during playback, the playback speed

Fast rewind) determined by the shuttle ring position will be held. (Even

when the shuttle ring (outside) is released, playback will

continue with the determined playback speed.)

• When the [HOLD] button is pressed during the playback

speed is held, the held playback speed will return to x1.

Skip Jog dial (Inside) • When the jog dial (inside) is rotated during playback,

playback point will skip to the top of the next or previous

recorded data and start playback.

• When rotating the jog dial (inside) clockwise during

playback, the playback point will skip to the top of the next

recorded data.

When rotating the jog dial (inside) counterclockwise during

playback, the playback point will skip to the top of the

previous recorded data.

• When no next or previous recorded data, the current

playback will continue.

Skip to the latest [GOTO LAST] button • When this button is pressed, playback from the top of the

Recorded data latest recorded data will start.

Note: Playback of the latest recorded data may sometimes

not start when the [GOTO LAST] button is pressed during

recording.

Multiscreen playback [MULTI SCREEN] • Press the [MULTI SCREEN] button. Each time the [MULTI

button SCREEN] button is pressed, the screen pattern will change

according to the setting configured on the setup menu

("Screen pattern selection" on the "Common" tab under

"Display").

Camera title display [OSD] button • Press this button to display/hide the camera title embedded

on the recorded data.

Text information will be displayed only when recorded data is

played on a 1-screen.

Camera title display Operate on the operation panel.

Note:

• When using the mouse, the playback speed will change each time the [Rew/FF] button is clicked.

• When recording and playback is performed simultaneously, playback will be paused when the playback

point reaches the current recording point (current time).

• When playing images recorded at a higher recording rate, the playback speed may sometimes become

unstable or interrupted audio may be heard, etc.

• A black screen may sometimes be displayed during fast forward playback/fast reverse playback.

However, this is caused resulting from the internal process of the recorder and is not malfunction.

Press the [Go to Date] Button

Step 1.

Search and Playback

Search for Time and Date of Recorded Images When Motion was Detected (VMD Search)

Step 1.

Press the [SEARCH] button on the front panel.

Step 2.

Move the cursor onto the [VMD] tab, and

then press the [SET] on the front panel.

- The "VMD" tab page will be displayed.

“Search” to display the “Search " window.

Select camera channels

Move the cursor onto the [Ch] button, and then press

the [SET] button (click with the mouse).

- The camera channel setup menu will be displayed.

To select a camera channel, rotate the jog dial

(inside), click the button using the mouse and click

on a camera number

Specify the time range

Move the cursor onto the [Time & date] button, and

then press the [SET] button, (click with the mouse).

- The time & Date setup menu will be displayed.

Front keyboard

Move the cursor onto the entry field, and then press

the [SET] button. The software keyboard (for time and

date entry) will be displayed.

Mouse

Click on the Calendar button to call up the calendar

and select the date and times by clicking the ( ) by

each of the parameters.

Filter by detection area or detection sensitivity

Move the cursor onto the [Sensitivity] button, and then

press the [SET] button.

→The sensitivity setup menu will be displayed.

Up to 4 detection areas (A - D) can be set. It is also

possible to set the whole displayed area as the

detection area by pressing [SET] button after moving

the cursor onto the [All Area] button. (using the USB

mouse click on the [All Area] button).

Set detection areas and detection sensitivities for

each of them as follows:

1. Move the cursor onto the [Area]

button of any of the detection area (A

- D), and then press the [SET]

button. (Using the USB mouse click

[Area].

2. Set the start point of the detection

area. Move the cursor to a point to be

set as the start point of the detection

area using the arrows buttons ,

and then press the [SET] button.

3. Set the end point of the detection area.

Move the cursor to a point to be set as the

end point of the detection area using the

arrow buttons (CDAB) and then press the

[SET] button. Up to 4 detection areas can be

set by repeating steps 1 - 3.

Step 6.

Select time and date of recorded data from the list to

play. To select a recorded data in which motion was

detected, rotate the jog dial (inside) or click on a record

using the USB mouse.

Step 8.

To stop the playback, press the [STOP] button on the

front panel.

→Playback will stop. Playback on monitor 2 will be

switched to live image display.

Step 5.

After specifying the search conditions (filters), press

the [SET] button after moving the cursor onto the

button. (click the next button using the USB

mouse).

- Data matched the search conditions (filters) will be

displayed on the VMD search list window.

Step 7.

Move the cursor onto the button, and then press

the [SET] button. (click the play button using the

USB mouse).

- Playback of the selected recorded data (in which

motion was detected) will be displayed.

Copy Recorded Image to SD memory Card (or DVD Option)

Step 1.

Insert an SD memory card into the SD card slot.

Alternatively, insert and DVD into the DVD drive. (if

DVD drive equipped, (optional).

COPY button

Step 2.

Press the [Copy] button on the front panel.

→The data copy window will be displayed. Note:

If using the mouse, click on the submenu

button using the mouse then click [Data

copy] button

Step 3.

Specify the detailed conditions of recorded images to

be copied.

- Copying destination: Select a DVD or a SD memory

card as a copying destination.

Move the cursor onto "HDD →DVD" or "HDD →

SD memory card", and then press the [SET] button.

- Time and date range: Designate the start time and

date and the end time and date of recorded

images to be copied.

Move the cursor onto the entry field, and then

press the [SET] button. The software keyboard (for

time and date entry) will be displayed and the time

and date can be entered using it.

-Alter detect: Determine whether or not to attach the

alteration detection code to the recorded images to be

copied.

-REC event/i-VMD: Select an event type of recorded

images to be copied.

-Camera: Select a camera channel used for recording.

NOTE:

• REC event

Manual recording, schedule recording, emergency recording, video loss, terminal alarm, motion auto-

detection from camera (Command, VMD, Camera Site)

•i-VMD

terminal alarm, scene alteration detection, object appearance/disappearance,, Motion detection, direction

detection, residence detection.

USB Mouse Operation

-When using the USB mouse

click on each box to select or de-

select each item

- For Date and Time Click on the

Calendar button to open the

calendar window to set the

desired date and time

IMPORTANT!

Step 6. When copying on a DVD, it is necessary to complete

copying by removing the DVD. (When copying on a

SD memory card, it is unnecessary to take the following

procedures to complete copying.)

When the [Copy] button on the front panel is pressed,

the "Eject media" menu will be displayed. Select

"Eject media", and then press the [SET] button.

→The DVD will be ready to remove.

Step 7

The DVD can be removed when the tray lock is

released by pressing the button at the center of the

DVD drive.

Note: For mouse Operation

• Move the cursor onto the [Search &

Copy] button of the submenu.

→The menu list will be displayed.

Move the cursor onto "Eject media"

on the displayed menu list, and then

click.

Note:

• The tray will not come out even when the eject

button is pressed if the operation described in step

6 is not performed to complete copying.

Operating The Cameras

Displaying the Camera Control Panel

It is possible to operate the following camera operations when displaying live images from a camera

with the panning/tilting and zooming function.

The panning/tilting, zooming, focus adjustment and iris adjustment can be made on the camera control panel.

Step 1

Press the [SUB MENU] button

on the front panel.

→The submenu window will be displayed.

Click the mouse on [Camera control] button of

the submenu.

→Move the cursor onto "Camera operation“ menu list

and then click.

Using the arrow buttons select

camera control submenu, and then

press [SET]. Select camera operation

and press [SET].

→The [Pan/Tilt] tab of the camera control panel

will be displayed.

Step 1

Click on the sub menu icon

On the status bar
