10 SHEETS OF PEEL & STICK GLASS MOSAIC TILE
1 KG OF GROUT POWDER
1 GROUT FLOAT
1 SPONGE
1 BAG OF MOSAIC TILE LOOSE PIECE
1 PAIR OF GLOVES
1 BAG OF SPACERS
1 MEASURING TAPE
1 MIXING STICK
1 MEASURING CUP
1 UTINITY KNIFE
1 INSTALLATION GUIDE LINE
1.2 ADDITIONAL TOOLS YOU MAY NEED
SCREW DRIVER: TO UNSCREW AND REMOVE OUTLETS
1.3 APPROPRIATE SURFACES
THIS MOSAIC TILE WORKS WELL ON ANY FLAT, CLEAN SURFACE THAT DOESNT HAVE CHEMICALS, OILS OR ANY RESIDUE
THAT WILL NOT ALLOW THE MOSAIC TILE TO ADHERE. MOSAIC TILES CAN BE APPLIED OVER METAL, ALLOY, GLASS, STONE,
DRYWALL, PLASTER, WOOD OR ANY OTHER NON-RIGID OR NON-OLEAGINOUS (WITHOUT OIL) SURFACES.
PAINTED SURFACES WHERE PAINT IS PEELING OR OTHERWISE COMING OFF MUST BE REPAIRED PRIOR TO INSTALLATION
OF THE PEEL & STICK MOSAIC TILES. THE SURFACE SHOULD BE UNIFORM AND STABLE BEFORE APPLYING THE MOSAIC TILE.
2. PREPARE TO INSTALL
2.1 MEASURE YOUR BACKSPLASH AND PLAN YOUR INSTALLATION:
A. USE THE MEASURING TAPE TO MEASURE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE COUNTERTOP AND THE BOTTOM OF THE
MIRROR (OR TOP DESIRED ENDPOINT OF THE TILE SURFACE) TO DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF TILE NEEDED TO FILL
THE SPACE.
B. PLACE A SHEET OF THE MOSAIC TILE ON YOUR COUNTER. CUT IT TO APPROPRIATE SIZE AND TEST THE FIT WITHOUT
PEELING THE BACK.
TIPS:
DETERMINE A GOOD HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL ALIGNMENT REFERENCE THAT IS LEVEL, SUCH AS THE CORNER OF A
WALL OR THE TOP OF THE COUNTER. MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE TOP, BOTTOM AND SIDES OF THE MOSAIC TILE TO
ENSURE IT LINES UP PROPERLY.
2.2 REMOVE THE OUTLET COVERS
USE A SCREWDRIVER AND REMOVE ANY OUTLET COVERS. WHEN REPLACING COVERS, A LONGER SCREW MAY BE
REQUIRED TO ALLOW FOR THE THICKNESS OF THE BACKSPLASH.
2.3 CLEAN THE BACKSPLASH
USE A TOWEL, RAG OR SCRUB BRUSH WITH A CHEMICAL CLEANING SOLUTION LIKE A GLASS OR MULTIPURPOSE CLEANER
TO REMOVE ANY OIL GREASE OR BLEMISH THAT WILL KEEP THE BACK OF THE MOSAIC TILE FROM STICKING TO THE
SURFACE. THE SURFACE SHOULD BE COMPLETELY DRY AND CLEAN BEFORE TILE IS ADHERED. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE
ENOUGH SPACE TO MOVE AROUND WHEN INSTALLING THE BACKSPLASH. REMOVE ANY ITEMS FROM THE COUNTERTOPS
BEFORE BEGINNING THE INSTALLATION. YOU MAY EVEN NEED TO MOVE A STOVE, MICROWAVE OR REFRIGERATOR.
NOW YOU ARE READY TO INSTALL YOUR PEEL & STICK MOSAIC TILES.
3. INSTALLING YOUR MOSAIC TILES
A. PEEL OFF HALF THE BACK OF A MOSAIC TILE AND LINE IT UP WITH THE COUNTERTOP. AN ADJUESTMENT MAY BE
NEEDED IN THE SPACING TOP TO BOTTOM TO ALLOW FOR A PROPER FIT BETWEEN THE COUNTER AND THE BOTTOM
OF THE MIRROR.
B. BEGIN INSTALLING THE MOSAIC TILES FROM LEFT TO RIGHT COMPLETING THE BOTTOM ROW FIRST.
C. UPON INSTALLED THE FIRST SHEET OF MOSAIC TILE, YOU SHOULD INSERT THE CROSS TO MAKE SURE THE NEXT SHEET
WILL BE LOCATED IN LINE.
AFTER INSTALLING YOUR FIRST ROW OF MOSAIC TILES YOU CAN BEGIN INSTALLING THE TOP NOW. TAKE YOUR TIME AND
MAKE SURE YOU ALIGN THE JOINTS BEFORE YOU APPLY PRESSURE.
TIPS:
1. DONT APPLY PRESSURE UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THAT THE MOSAIC TILE IS LINED UP CORRECTLY;
2. ONCE YOU ARE HAPPY WITH HOW YOUR JOINTS ARE LINED UP, USE YOUR GROUT FLOAT TO APPLY MORE PRESSURE
TO ASSURE GOOD ADHESION TO THE WALL.
QUICK TIPS!
1. ADJUSTING THE JIONTS
FOR UNEVEN WALLS YOU CAN MAKE SIMPLE ADJUSTMENT TO BETTER LINE UP YOUR JOINTS USING THE TECHNIQUE
DESCRIBED BELOW.
USING YOUR UTILITY KNIFE IN BETWEEN THE JOINTS, CUT THE PEEL & STICK BACKING OF THE INDIVIDUAL ROW YOU
WISH TO ADJUST. THEN SIMPLY LIFT THE END OF THAT ROW AND REPOSITION. REAPPLY PRESSURE ON THE SURFACE TO
SECURE IT WHEN YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS.
2. TACKLING TRICKY AREAS
WINDOWS AND OPENINGS
IT IS ALWAYS BEST TO HAVE A CLEAR PLAN AS TO HOW THE MOSAIC TILE WILL FIT ON THE BACKSPLASH BEFORE
ADHERING THE TILE WHEN WORKING ON WALLS WITH WINDOWS AND OPENINGS.
OUTLETS AND WALL FAUCETS
WHEN INSTALLING THE GLASS AROUND OUTLETS, WALL FAUCETS OR FIXTURES, MAKE SURE TO REMOVE ALL FINISH
PLATES FIRST. INSTALL THE GLASS AND GROUT BEFORE REPLACING. CUT THE SHEETS AROUND THE FIXTURES AS CLOSELY
AS POSSIBLE TO ENSURE A SEAMLESS LOOK.
4. GROUTING
PLEASE WEAR THE GLOVES BEFORE YOU DO THE WORK. OPEN THE BAG OF GROUT POWDER, POUR INTO THE
MEASUREMENT CUP AND MIX WITH TAP WATER, IN THE MEANWHILE, PLEASE USE THE WOOD STICK TO MIX THE POWDER
AND WATER UNTIL IT BECOME PASTE. THE BEST PROPORTION BETWEEN GROUT POWDER AND TAP WATER IS 1:4, SO WE
RECOMMEND USING 200ML GROUT POWDER AS THE FIRST TRY.
TIPS:
TO MAKE SURE THE GROUT PASTE IS UNDER BEST CONDITION UPON MIXING THE POWDER AND WATER, WE RECOMMEND
USING THE WOOD STICK TO MIX UPON EACH TIME YOU FILLED WATER, AND STOP MIXING WHEN YOU THINK IT IS
SUITABLE TO BE APPLIED ONTO THE MOSAIC TILES.
5. HOW TO APPLY THE GROUT PASTE
POUR THE GROUT ONTO THE FLOAT EVENLY AND APPLY IT TO THE MOSAIC TILES WITH THE FLOAT IN AN UPWARD
MOVING DIAGONAL PATTERN. WITH YOUR RETURN STROKE, IN A SQUEEGEE LIKE MOTION, BRING THE FLOAT BACK
ACROSS THE MOSAIC TILES IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION APPLYING ADDITIONAL PRESSURE. MAKE SURE THE JOINTS ARE
COMPLETELY FULL OF GROUT AND ALL EXCESS GROUT IS REMOVED FROM THE MOSAIC TILES. REPEAT ACROSS THE ENTIRE
BACKSPLASH.
TIPS:
TO PROTECT YOUR BACKSPLASH AND CREAT A WATER RESISTANT LAYER OF PROTECTION WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU
CAULK THE EDGES WITH A SILICON BASED CAULK. THIS IS ESPECIALLY RECOMMENDED FOR WET AREAS SUCH AS BEHIND
THE FAUCET AND WHEREVER THERE IS A PRESENCE OF WATER.
6. CLEANING
START CLEANING FROM WHERE THE GROUT WAS FIRST AFFIXED FOLLOWING THE PATTERN IN WHICH IT WAS APPLIED.
WET THE SPONGE AND WIPE THE TILES REMOVING ALL GROUT RESIDUES. ALWAYS USE CLEAN WATER THOUGHOUT THE
PROCESS. IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL PASSES OVER THE TILES TO ACHIEVE A THOROUGHLY CLEAN SURFACE.
YOU CAN BEGIN CLEANING WITHIN MINUTES OF FIRST APPLYING THE GROUT, BUT DO NOT WAIT OVER 15 MINUTES AS
THE GROUT WILL BECOME MORE DIFFICULT TO BE REMOVED. YOU MAY WANT TO GROUT THE BACKSPLASH IN SECTIONS
TO ALLOW ADEQUATE TIME TO CLEAN. GROUT DRIES DIFFERENTLY BASED ON HUMIDITY AND TEMPERATURE. IF THE
GROUT IS TOO WET TO CLEAN, LET DRY FOR 10 MINUTES AND THEN REPEAT PROCESS.
CONGRATULATION! NOW YOU ARE DONE!
