What is wash-free rice?
“Wash-free rice” is the rice which can be cooked
without rinsing (polishing). Fine rice bran which is
usually present on the rice grain surface has been
removed.
Condition of cooked rice may be different depending
on manufacturing method and brand of “wash-free
rice”. Adjust water and rice amount to your taste.
“Wash-free rice” may not be available in some
area/region.
Why rice slightly burns?
This is to remove excess water content in the rice
and enjoy savory flavor. If you like to avoid burn, rinse
the rice well to remove rice bran as much as possible.
Wash-free rice and rice other than white rice can
burn easily.
Water amount adjustment for each
rice type
Adjust water amount depending on rice type to
your taste.
What is “Super Rapid”?
This is the function to cook rice faster. Because
heating time and settling time of boiled rice
becomes shorter a bit with this function, rice may
become a little harder or less tasty. If you do not
really hurry, cooking rice with “White rice” menu is
recommended.
Hints and Tips for tasty rice
To cook rice with
good taste
Measure the rice amount accurately.
Make sure to use the provided measuring cup to measure the rice
amount.
Scale on a rice container cum measuring scale may be difference from
the one on the provided measuring cup. This may cause difference in
rice amount measured.
Rinse the rice quickly and sufficiently.
Rice absorbs the initial rinsing water which contains
rice bran. To avoid rice bran smell, quickly throw the
initial rinsing water.
After rinsing, rinse the rice well until the rinsing
water becomes clear.
Stir rice after cooking
Stir the rice at the bottom of inner pot without
pressuring it. This will evaporate extra water and
make it tasty.
You should stir rice even if you want keep it warm
after cooked.
When warming a small
amount of rice
If rice amount becomes small,
put the rice into a mound in the
center part of the inner pot.
(This prevents drying up of the
rice and watery rice.)
Warming up the rice
with good taste
Avoid the followings to
maintain the rice taste
while warming.
Warming for longer than 12 hours
Re-warm cooled rice and adding
rice to warmed rice
Warming with a rice scoop inside
the inner pot
Warming rice other than white rice
(such as enriched rice, brown rice
and porridge)
Warming of improperly rinsed rice
Note
Rice to be kept for more
than 12 hours and rice other
than white rice can be
wrapped with plastic wrap
and kept in the freezer.
Taste of rice so frozen can
be maintained if warmed
with a microwave oven.
Occasionally stirring rice is
a tip to keep the rice tasty.

Preparation for cooking
Measure the rice amount
with the provided measur-
ing cup.
Amount of rice exactly filled in one cup is approximately 180ml.
Clean the rice
Wash-free rice
Make sure to wash with water and stir the rice
from the bottom so that no rice grain floats.
Adjust water amount to your taste by referring
to the water level scale for wash-free.
Notes
Do not rinse the rice inside the inner pot but in another
container or bowl.
Rinse the rice well (to avoid burn and bran smell).
Do not use a whisk but use your hand to rinse the rice.
Enriched rice cannot be cooked up to the maximum level for
white rice (up to 2 cups).
When using wash-free rice, the rice grain floats if water is
just poured onto the rice and this affects rice cooking.
Furthermore, if rinsing water is too unclear, the rice may
burn or cannot be cooked properly.
Pour water referring to water
level scale for each menu.
Wash-free rice
Wash-free rice may have different water level depending on
its process and brand name. Please adjust the water level
and quantity of rice to the way you like by using wash-free
rice water level as rough standards.
Notes
Level the rice before adjusting water amount. Check the water
amount on a flat surface (to avoid uneven rice cooking).
Avoid using hot water to cook rice. (Rice may become watery
if hot water is used for cooking.)
If highly alkaline water is used for cooking rice, the rice may
become yellowish or watery.
Water level scale is for reference purpose only. Adjust water
amount to your taste.
