Installation of Electric Fireplace Insert, should take 15 minutes. The only tool required is a
Phillips head screwdriver, not supplied with this unit.

1. Read all instructions before using this appliance.
2. This appliance is hot when in use. To avoid burns,
do not let bare skin touch hot surfaces. If provided,
use handles when moving this appliance. Keep
combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows,
bedding, papers, clothes and curtains at least 3 feet
(0.9 m) from the front of this appliance.
WARNING: In order to avoid overheating, do not
cover the heater. It cannot be used in wardrobe.
3. CAUTION: Whenever the heater is left operating
and unattended, extreme caution is necessary if
children or invalids are nearby.
4. The appliance is not to be used by children or
persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or
instruction.
5. Children being supervised not to play with the
appliance.
6. If possible, always unplug this appliance when
not in use.
7. Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or
plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or if it has
been dropped or damaged in any manner.
8. If the supply cord is damages, it must be replaced
by the manufacture, its service agent or similarly
qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
9. Any repairs to this fireplace should be carried out
by a qualified service person.
10. Under no circumstances should this fireplace
be modified. Parts having to be removed for
servicing must be replaced prior to operating this
fireplace again.
11. Do not use outdoors.
12. This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms,
laundry areas and similar indoor locations. Never
locate this appliance where it may fall into a
bathtub or other water container.
13. Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover
cord with throw rugs, runners or the like. Arrange
cord away from traffic areas and where it will not
be tripped over.
14. To disconnect this appliance, turn controls to the
off position, then remove plug from outlet.
15. Connect to properly grounded outlets only.
16. This appliance, when installed, must be electrically
grounded in accordance with local codes or, in the
absence of local codes, with the current CSA C22.1
Canadian Electrical Code or for U.S.A. installations,
follow local codes and the National Electrical
Code, ANSI/NFPA NO.70.
17. There is a thermostat limiter inside the heater.
When the inner temperature over heating or occur
abnormal heating, the thermostat protective device
would cut off power supply to avoid the fireplace
damaged or risk of fire.
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire,
electrical shock, and injury to persons including the following:
18. The heaters must not be located immediately
below a socket-outlet.
19. Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any
ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an
electric shock or fire, or damage the appliance.
20. To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes
or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft
surfaces, like a bed, where opening may become
blocked.
21. This appliance has hot and arcing or sparking parts
inside. Do not use it in areas where gasoline, paint
or flammable liquids are used or stored. This
fireplace should not be used as a drying rack for
clothing. Christmas stockings or decorations should
not be hung in the area of it.
22. Use this appliance only as described in the
manual. Any other use not recommended by the
manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock or
injury to persons.
23. Avoid the use of an extension cord because the
extension cord may overheat and cause risk of
fire. However, if you have to use an extension
cord, the cord must be No.14 AWG minimum size
and rated not less than 1875 Watts. The extension
cord must be a three wire cord with grounding type
plug and cord connection. The extension cord shall
not be more than 20 feet (6 m) in length.
24. See Figure 1 for the follow directions.
This heater is for use on 120 volts. The cord has a
plug as shown in figure 1. See Figure 1 for grounding
instruction. An adapter as shown at C is available for
connecting three-blade grounding type plugs to two-slot
receptacles. The green grounding plug extending from
the adapter must be connected to a permanet ground
such as a properly gounnded outlet box. The adapter
should not be used if a three-slot grounded receptacle
is available.

Position your completed mantel close to its
final location. Make sure you can access the back of
the mantel as your Electric Fireplace Insert will be
installed from the back.
Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the screws
and the metal mounting brackets attached on either
side of the fireplaces center opening. Next unpack
the Electric Fireplace Insert carefully. Position the insert
behind the fireplace with front facing the wood mantel.
With the help of an adult assistant, lift the Insert and
gently slide it into the opening in the mantel until the
flange is flush against the inside of the mantel. Make
sure insert is centered left and right in the opening. Be
careful when placing insert and adjusting, bottom of
insert could scratch the finish of the base/hearth
of your fireplace. Re-attach the mounting brackets
with the Phillips head screwdriver, and supplied
screws. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
With the help of an assistant, carefully lift completed
unit and place it with the front facing out in the final
location you have chosen for your fireplace.
Make sure to secure the electrical cord before lifting
or moving completed fireplace. When choosing a final
location, make sure you will have clear access to a
grounded electrical outlet.
Read and follow all instructions in this manual before
operating your new fireplace.

MANTEL LOCATION
When choosing a location for your new fireplace,
ensure that the general instructions are followed.
Also, for best effect, install the fireplace out of
direct sunlight.
Cold climate installation recommendation:
when installing this unit against a
non-insulated exterior wall or chase, it is
mandatory that the outer walls be insulated
to conform to applicable insulation codes.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
A 15 AMP, 120 Volt, 60 Hz circuit with a
properly grounded outlet is required. Preferably, the
fireplace will be on a dedicated circuit as other
appliances on the same circuit may cause the circuit
breaker to trip or the fuse to blow when the heater is
in operation. The unit comes standard with 6 feet
(1.8 m) three wire cord, exiting from the rear of the
fireplace. Plan the installation to avoid the use of
an extension cord. If an extension cord must be
used, it must be a minimum 14 AWG ; three wires
with grounding type plug connector and rated
not less than 1875 Watts. The cord shall not be
more than 20 feet (6 m) in length.

CLEARANCE TO COMBUSTIBLES
Keep electrical cords, drapery, furniture and other
combustibles at least 3 feet (0.9 m) from the front of the
heater and away from the sides.
CLEANING TRIM
Clean the metal trim using a soft cloth, slightly
dampened with citrus oil based product and buff with
a clean soft cloth. DO NOT use brass polish or
household cleaners as these products will damage
the metal trim. Citrus oil based products can be
obtained at supermarkets or hardware stores.
MAINTENANCE
The motors used on the fan and the flame generator assembly are pre-lubricated for extended bearing life and
require no further lubrication. However, periodic cleaning/vacuuming of the fan/heater unit is recommended.
Make sure the unit is turned OFF and unplugged whenever you are cleaning the heater or fireplace.
WARNING: Make sure the power is turned off before proceeding. Any electrical repairs or
rewiring of this unit should be carried out by a licensed electrician in accordance with
national and local codes.
If repairing or replacing any electrical component or wiring, the original wire routing, color
coding and securing locations must be followed.
WARNING: Electrical outlet wiring must comply with local building codes and other applicable
regulations to reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock and injury to persons.
WARNING: Do not use this fireplace if any part of it has been under water. Immediately call a
qualified service technician to inspect the fireplace and replace any part of the electrical system.
Warning: Disconnect power before attempting any maintenance or cleaning to reduce the risk
of fire, electrical shock or personal injury.

Warning: During any service of this appliance, the power to the unit must be turned off.
First turn the main power switch to the “OFF” position. Then remove the electrical plug from
the wall outlet.

Press this switch can turn ON and OFF heater output. And this switch must be in ON position for
HEAT-HI
switch functions to work.
HEAT HI (18/23EF020GAA ) -
The HEAT HI switch can turn on high heat and double output.
FLAME (18/23EF020GAA )-
The flame control switch can turn ON and OFF the flame brightness.

POWER (23/28/33EF020GRA) -
The POWER switch supplies power to all of the functions of the fireplace. This switch must be in the on position
for any of the functions including the remote to work.
TEMPERATURE (23/28/33EF020GRA) -
The Temperature control knob is used to set up the room temperature. The further the knob is rotated clockwise,
the higher the set point temperature will be. Turning the knob counter clock-wise will lower the set temperature.
Use this function to help regulate the ambient temperature.
HEATER (23/28/33EF020GRA) -
Your fireplace consists of a fan forced wire element type heater. The HEATER switch turns the heater ON and OFF.
The blower starts to work and blow hot air when turn on this button.
FLAME (23/28/33EF020GRA)-
Each time the flame button is pressed, the intensityof the flame decreases. There are six brightness levels you can
cycle through including the OFF setting.
DOWN LIGHT (28/33EF020GRA ONLY) -
The DOWNLIGHT switch turns on thedown light that illuminate inside of the firebox.

NOTE: The insert Main Power Switch must be switched
ON in order for the Remote Control to function.
The Power button will put the insert in a standby
mode. This will turn off all functions at once but
will hold the settings in memory. By pressing the
button again the unit will turn on at the same settings.
Each time the flame button is pressed, the intensity
of the flame decreases. There are six brightness
levels you can cycle through including the OFF setting.
This button will turn the power to the heater and
blower ON and OFF. The blower starts to work and
blow hot air when turn on this button. The rotary switch
(TEMPERATURE) controls the thermostat feature
to help regulate your room’s temperature accordingly.
NOTE: This remote control uses 1 CR2032 Lithium lon button cell battery (Included). Never dispose of
batteries in fire, except under conditions of controlled incineration. (Failure to observe this precaution may
result in an explosion.)

TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE

1. No power. Turn on all switches and don’t work.
2. Flame switch is at “ON” position, no glow and
flame.
3. Logs glow, flame effect does not work.
4. Have flame effect , but heater does not blow
warm air.
5. Heater doesn’t work, while HEAT-ON switch
is at the “ON” position.
1a. Check that unit is plugged into a standard 120V power outlet.
2a. Please try to turn on/off flame switch several times first, if still
no flame, please call customer service.
3a. Open back of unit. Check to see if spindle was connected to the
motor.
3b. Check to see if spindle motor is running. If not, call
customer service.
4a. Check that HEAT-ON switch is at “ON” position.
5a.Turn all switches to the “OFF” position and unplug the unit from
the wall outlet for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes plug the unit back
into wall outlet, and operate as normal.

the wall outlet for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes plug the unit hack
into wall outlet, and operate as normal.

INSTRUCTIONS D’INSTALLATION
Une fois le manteau en bois monté, placez-le près de
vous de pouvoir accéder à l’arrière du foyer et du manteau
puisque le foyer électrique encastrable devra être installé
par l’arrière de ce dernier.
Avec un tournevis cruciforme, retirez les vis et les brides
de montage en métal posées de chaque côté de l’ouverture
centrale pour le foyer. Vous devez ensuite déballer avec
soin le foyer électrique encastrable. Placez le foyer encas-
trable dans le manteau, en le passant par l’arrière de ce
dernier. Assurez-vous que l’avant du foyer fasse face au
manteau de bois. Avec l’aide d’un adulte, soulevez le
foyer encastrable et glissez-le doucement dans l’ouve
rture
du
manteau
, jusqu’à ce que la bride se trouveàégalité
a
vec le manteau. Assurez-vous que le foyer encastrable
est bien centré dans l’ouverture. Faites attention lorsque
vous placez et ajustez le foyer encastrable car le bas de ce
manteau. Utilisez les vis fournies ainsi qu’un tournevis
cruciforme pour remettre les brides de montage en place.
NE PAS TROP SERRER.
Avec l’aide d’un adulte, soulevez l’unité montée avec
soin et placez-la dans le manteau, à l’endroit choisi pour

SOLUTION
PROBLÈME
1. Aucune alimentation électrique, les voyants
ne s’allument pas.
2. L’interrupteur de la flamme est réglé à la
position « ON », mais aucune illumination et
aucun effet de flammes ne s’activent.
3. Les bûches s’illuminent, mais aucun effet de
flammes ne s’active.
4. Il y a un effet de flammes, mais la chaufferette
ne souffle pas d’air chaud.
5. La chaufferette ne fonctionne pas, même si
l’interrupteur « MARCHE/ARRÊT » (ON/OFF)
de la chaufferette est réglé à la position ON.
1a. S’assurer que l’unité est bien branchée dans une prise normale
de 120 V.
2a. D’abord, essayer de nouveau de mettre en marche et à
l’arrêt l’interrupteur à plusieurs reprises. S’il n’y a toujours aucun
effet de flammes, communiquer avec le service à la clientèle.
3a. Ouvrir l’arrière de l’unité. Vérifier si l’élément rotatif est relié au
moteur.
3b. Vérifier si le moteur de l’élément rotatif fonctionne. Si non,
communiquer avec le service à la clientèle.
4a. S’assurer que l’interrupteur « MARCHE/ARRÊT » (ON/OFF) de
la chaufferette est réglé à la position ON.
5a. Régler tous les interrupteurs à la position « OFF » et débrancher l’unité
de la prise murale pendant cinq minutes. Après cinq minutes, brancher
de nouveau l’unité dans la prise et l’utiliser normalement.
TROUBLE & SHOOTING GUIDE
1. Aucune alimentation, les interrupteurs
principaux ne s’allument pas.
2. L’interrupteur d’alimentation principal est allumé,
mais aucun effet de flammes ne se produit.
3. Les lumières éclairant vers le bas ne s’allument pas.
4. Il y a un effet de flammes, mais la chaufferette ne
souffle pas d’air chaud.
5. La chaufferette ne fonctionne pas, mais les
interrupteurs d’alimentation et de la chaufferette
sont réglés à la position « ON » et le thermostat
est réglé à la position « HI ».
1a. Vérifier que l’unité est branchée dans une prise standard de
120 V.
1b. Vérifier que l’interrupteur d’alimentation principal est réglé à
la position « ON ».
4a. S’assurer que le thermostat est réglé à la position « HI » (Élevé).
4b. Essayer de régler le bouton CHAUFFERETTE à la position « ON »
et à la position « OFF » à plusieurs reprises afin de s’assurer qu’il
est réglé à la position « ON ».
5a. Régler tous les interrupteurs à la position « OFF » et débrancher
l’unité de la prise murale pendant cinq minutes. Après cinq minutes,
brancher de nouveau l’unité dans la prise et l’utiliser normalement.

2a. Essayer de mettre en marche et à l’arrêt l’interrupteur de la flamme
à plusieurs reprises.
2b. Ouvrir les panneaux supérieur et arrière afin de vérifier si
l’élément rotatif de la flamme est tombé de l’élément rotatif du
moteur.
3a. Essayer d’allumer et d’éteindre l’interrupteur des lumières éclairant
vers le bas à plusieurs reprises.

tivement la (« société ») garantit que votre nouveau
foyer électrique Twin-Star sera libre de tout défaut de
fabrication pendant une période d’un an à compter
de la date d’achat, sous réserve des conditions et des
limites suivantes.
1. Ce foyer électrique doit être installé et fonction-
ner en tout temps conformément aux instruc-
tions d’installation et d’utilisation fournies avec
autorisée, toute utilisation abusive, tout accident
ou toute mauvaise utilisation du produit annulera
la présente garantie.
2. Cette garantie est non transférable et ne vise que
l’acheteur original, à la condition que l’achat ait été

3. La présente garantie se limiteàla réparation ou au
remplacement des pièces jugées défectueuses, tant
au niveau du matériel que de la qualité d’exécution,
à la condition que ces pièces aient été utilisées dans
des conditions normales d’utilisation et d’entretien,
4. La société pourra, à sa discrétion, se décharger
entièrement de ses obligations à l’égard de la
présente garantie en remboursant le prix de gros
des pièces défectueuses.
5. Toute installation, tout travail, toute construction,
tout transport ou tout autre coût/frais connexe
découlant des pièces défectueuses, de la réparation,
du remplacement ou autre, ne sera pas couvert par
la présente garantie et la société n’assume aucune
responsabilité à cet égard.
6. Le propriétaire/utilisateur assume tous les autres
risques, le cas échéant, y compris tout dommage
ou perte direct, indirect ou accessoire découlant de
l’utilisation ou de l’incapacité à utiliser le produit,
sauf comme le prévoit la loi.
7. Toutes les autres garanties – expresses ou implic-
ites – à l’égard de ce produit, de ses composants et
accessoires, ou de toute obligation/responsabilité
de la part de la société sont expressément exclues
par les présentes.
8. La société n’assume aucune autre responsabilité
à l’égard de la vente du produit Twin-Star ni
n’autoris
