1. IMPORTANCE SAFEGUARD
When usingelectrical appliances, basic safetyprecautions shall always
be followed, including the following:
1.
Read all instructions and keep these safety instructions. Any type of
misuse of the appliance may result in a potential injury.
2.
Do nottouch hotsurfaces. Use handles or knobs. The heating
elementsurface is subjectto residual heat after use and plastic
housingsmay feel warm to touch several minutes upon use.
3.
To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons do not
immerse cord, plugs or appliance in water or other liquid. Avoid
spillage on the plug. Never touch cord with wethands. Do not overfill
watertank.
4.
Connectthe appliance to outlets with a grounding contact only.
Electricalvoltage must be 120 V.
5.
Do notlet cord hangover edge of table or counter, or touch hot
surfacesor sharp edges. Do not allow cord to dangle (risk of
accident).
6.
Do notoperate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after
the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner.
Unplugcord immediately. Return appliance to the nearest
authorizedservice facility approved by NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®
Hotline for examination, repair or adjustment.

Do notplace on or near a hot gasor electric burner, in a heated
oven,radiators or range top. Always place on a stable and even
surface. The surface must be resistant to heat and fluids, like water,
coffee,descaler, or similar.
To disconnect, turn any control to «off», then remove plug from wall
outlet.Do not unplug by pulling the cord.

Unplugfrom outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to
cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the
appliance.Never clean wet or immerse appliance in any fluid. Never
cleanthe appliance with running water. Never use deter gents to
cleanthe appliance.

Do notdismantle appliance and do not putanything into openings.
10.
The use of accessory attachments notrecommended by the
appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or injury to
persons.
11.
Any operation, cleaning and care other than normal use must be
undertakenby aftersales service centers approved by NESCAFÉ®
Dolce Gust Hotline.

In case ofintensive use without allowing sufficient cooling time, the
appliance will stop functioning temporarily with the red indicator
lightblinking. This is to protect your appliance from overheating.
Switchthe appliance off for 20 minutes to let itcool down. If
beverage volumes are programmed for 10 or 12 oz, letthe machine
cool down for 1½ minutes before making the next beverage to
preventthe risk of overheating.
13.
Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near
children. Keep appliance / power cord / capsule holder out of
reachof children. Childrenshould not use the appliance.
14.
This appliance canbe used by childrenaged from 8 years and
above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilitiesor lack ofexperience andknowledge ifthey have
beengiven supervision or instruction concerning use of the
appliance in a safe way andifthey understand the hazards
involved. Cleaning anduser maintenance shall not be made by
childrenunlessthey are older than 8 and supervised by an
adult.

Do notuse outdoors.

Do notuse appliance for other than intended use. Appliance
mustbe used in accordance with these instructions and
specifications.

Do notremove hot capsulesby hand. Use capsule holder
handle and turn it upside down to dispose of used capsules.

Alwaysclose machine head with capsule holder. Do not pull
outcapsule holder before indicator stops blinking.

Machines equipped with a locking handle: Scalding may occur
ifthe lever is opened during the brewing cycles.

Do notput fingers under outletduring beverage preparation.

Do nottouch the injector ofthe machine head.
23.
Never carry the appliance by the machine head.

The capsule holder is equipped with one permanent magnet.
Avoidplacing capsule holder near appliancesand objects that
can be damaged by magnetism, e.g. creditcards, diskettes
andother data devices, video tapes, television and computer
monitorswith picture tubes, mechanical clocks, hearing aids
andloud speakers. Patients with pacemakers or defibrillators:
Do not hold capsule holder directly over pacemaker or
defibrillator.

We recommend using the NESCAFÉ®DolceGusto®capsules
designed and tested for the NESCA®DolceGust
machine. They were designed to interact together -the
interactionprovidesthe in-cup quality that
NESCA®DolceGust is known for. Each capsule is
designed to prepare a perfect cup, and cannotbe reused.

For rinsing and beverage preparation only use

Ifaway for more than 2 days (on holidays etc.)the
machine must be emptied, cleaned and
unplugged. Before reuse rinse machine according
to instructions in 7. on page 1, beginning with
step4 to step 8.

4. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SAFE USE

Ensureto use the correct mains voltage as givenin 2. on
page 1. Connectpower plugto mains power socket. Press
ON /OFF icon. Machine moves automatically to preparinga
beverageposition.

While machine is heatingup, ON / OFF icon starts blinking
red. After approx. 30 seconds, ON / OFF iconlights up
steady green. Machine is ready to use.

Rinse water tank manually with freshdrinking water. Fill
water tank withfresh drinking water. Insert water tank into
machine.

Make sure that rinsingtool is incapsule holder and capsule
holder is in machine. Place an empty large container under-
neaththe coffee outlet.

Startrinsingwith cold water: Setbar display to maximum
level with touchvolume selector. Touch coldwater icon.
Machine starts rinsing. Lights onbar display vanish pro-
gressively.

Waituntil countdownis finished and machine stops.

Continue rinsing with hotwater. Setbar display to max-
imumlevel withtouch volume selector. Touchhotwater
icon. Machine starts rinsing. Lights on bar display vanish
progressively.

Remove rinsing tool. Warning: Hot water! Handle with care!

water. Switch on machine. While machine is heating up, ON
/ OFF icon startsblinking red. After approx. 30seconds, ON
/ OFF icon lights up steady green. Machine is ready to use.

Adjustdrip tray position. Place cup with correctcup size on
driptray. See 3. "BEVERAGE EXAMPLES" or package.

Pull out capsule holder. Make sure rinsingtool is not
inside. Insert capsule in capsule holder. Insertcapsule
holder into machine.

Use touchvolume selector to illuminate amountof bars in
accordance withthe number of bars shownon capsule, or
selectamount of bars to your owntaste. Choose XL bever-
age for an extrabigcup. Wait around1.5 minifyou wantto
prepare a second extra big cup.

beverage). Beverage preparationstarts. Stay beside the

Put rinsingtool into capsule holder. Insert capsule holder
into machine. Place anempty large container underneath

Rinse the machine: Light up all bars to max. level using
touchvolume selector. Touchhot water icon. Machine
starts rinsing. Lights on bar display vanish progressively.

Remove and empty container. Warning: Hot water! Handle
withcare!

Pull out capsule holder. Remove rinsing tool. Reinsert cap-
sule holder. Place drip gridon drip tray. Then insert drip
tray at desiredposition. Ifany, remove water from water
tank.

Switchoff machine. Unplugpower plug!Clean machine with
a softdamp cloth. Dry it afterwards with a softdry cloth.

Use NESCA®DolceGust liquid

Do not use vinegar for descaling! Avoidcontactof descalingliquid with any
partof the machine.
Do not push ON / OFF icon during descaling
cycle.

Ifthe beverage comes out slower thanusual (evenin
droplets), or if it is cooler than usual or ifthe power button
issteady orange (descaling signal), the machine has to be
descaled.

Switchoff machine. Ifany, remove water from water tank.

Mix 0.5 liter fresh drinkingwater with descaler in a meas-
uringcup. Pour descaling solution into water tank and
insertwater tankinto machine.

Remove drip grid and drip tray. Putrinsing toolinto cap-

empty large container underneath the coffee outlet.

Press andhold ON/ OFF iconfor atleast 5 seconds. ON/

enters descaling mode.

approximately 2 minutes. Wait until extractionstops.

For a better effectofthe descaler, the machine enters a
waitingtime of2 minutes. Bar display lights vanish pro-
gressively. The ON / OFF icon blinks alternately green /
orangeduring the waiting time.

Empty andclean container. Rinse andclean water tank. Use
a clean food-safe brush and washing-up liquid as needed.
Afterwards refillwith freshdrinking water and insert itinto
machine.

capsule holder. Empty and cleancontainer. Rinse and clean
water tank. Afterwards refill with freshdrinking water and
insertit into machine.

Cleanmachine with asoft damp cloth. Dry itafterwards
witha soft dry cloth. Place drip grid on driptray. Then
insertdrip tray at desiredposition.

9. 1 NO LIQUID COMES OUT NO WATER?
No liquid comes out: Beverage preparation stops part way
duringdelivery or does notstartat all. Bar display flashes
and ON/ OFF iconblinks redand greenrapidly.

Check ifthe water tank contains enough freshdrinking
water. If not, refill withfresh drinking water andtouchhot/-
coldwater iconagain to continue preparation. If the water
tank is full proceedas follows.
No liquid comes out: The capsule may be blockedand under
pressure.

Alwayskeep the machine upright! To stop preparation,
touchhot/cold water icon again. Do not unplugthe machine!
Machine releases pressure.

Coffeemix ispressed out oftop ofcapsule holder. Wait
until pressing process is finished. This is the case ifyou
hear no noise coming from the machine.

Do not drink the coffee!If capsule holder can be pulled out:
Throw away the capsule. Ifcapsule holder cannotbe pulled
out, wait for 20 minutes, try again. If capsule holder is still
blocked,unplug machine. Call the
NESCA®DolceGust hotline. For hotline numbers see
lastpage.

Rinse the machine: Follow instructions in 5. onpage 1.
Cleanwith washing-up liquidand freshdrinking water both
sides ofcapsule holder. Rinse driptray with freshdrinking
water and cleanit with a cleanfood-safe brush.

Unplugpower plug!Remove water tank. Take outthe
injector tool. Pull cleaningneedle out ofinjector tool. Keep
needleout ofreach ofchildren!

Remove capsule holder. Push injector tool over injector.

Removeinjector only on coldmachine! Turn injector tool
anti-clockwise. Remove injector. Donot leaveinjector unat-
tended!Keep injector out ofreach ofchildren!

Insertcleaning needle into injector to unclogit. Ifnotpos-
sible,prepare a descalingsolution with one descaler and
0.5liter drinking water. Put injector in descalingsolution.

Put injector onto injector tool.

Insertinjector from below into opening ofmachine. Support
injector with hand. Rotate injector clockwise until it fits. Fol-
low instructions in 8. onpage 1.
ON /OFF ICON TURNED TO ORANGE COLOUR

This means thatthe machine needs to be descaled. Follow
instructions in8. onpage 1.

Machine cannot be switched on. No opening / closingof the
machine.

Make sure that the opening/ closing is notblocked by cable
or surrounding objects.

Check ifthe power plug is correctly pluggedinto a mains

machine still cannot be switched on, call the

Machine does notstay closed. Used capsule icon blinks
orangeuntil capsule is removed.
