INTRODUCTION
The 4-1/2 in. tile saw is designed for cutting tile with accuracy and speed. The adjustable steel base
and bevel guide allow the user to repeat cuts with a consistent depth and bevel. A dual water supply
system keeps both sides of the cutting blade cool for longer periods of productive cutting. Tools to
quickly change the cutting blade are included.

IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

basic precautions to reduce the risk of personal injury and/or damage to the equipment. Before
allowing someone else to use this tool, make sure they are aware of all safety information.
WARNING! The warnings, cautions and instructions discussed in this instruction manual cannot
cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. Common sense and caution are
factors that cannot be built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.

WORK AREA
1. Operate in a safe work environment. Keep your work area clean and well lit.
2. Do not use the tool in the presence of flammable gases.
3. Keep anyone not wearing appropriate safety equipment away from the work area. Distraction can cause you
to lose control of the tool.
4. Store tool properly in a safe, dry location to prevent rust or damage. Always lock up tools and keep them out
of the reach of children.
PERSONAL SAFETY
CAUTION! Wear protective equipment approved by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or American
National Standards Institute (ANSI) when using power tools.
1. Head Protection
• Always wear impact safety goggles that provide front and side protection for the eyes.
• Wear the appropriate rated dust mask or respirator when working around metal, wood and chemical
dusts or mists.
• Wear earplugs if the power tool or work environment is noisy.
• Wear a full-face shield if your work creates metal filings or wood chips.
• Wear a hard hat to protect your head from falling objects.
2. Gloves
• The gloves should provide protection based on the work materials.
• Wear suitable gloves to reduce the effects of vibration.
3. Wear protective clothes that are electrically non-conductive.
4. Foot Protection
• Steel toe footwear or steel toe caps to prevent injury from falling objects.
• Non-skid footwear is recommended to maintain footing and balance.
5. Control the tool, personal movement and the work environment to avoid personal injury or damage to tool.
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use your common sense.
• Keep articles of clothing, jewelry, hair, etc., away from moving parts to avoid entanglement with a tool.
• Do not operate any machine/tool when tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medications.
• Do not overreach when operating a tool. Proper footing and balance enables better control of a tool in
unexpected situations.
• Use clamps or other practical ways to support or secure the workpiece to a stable platform. Holding the
workpiece by hand or against your body is not stable and may lead to loss of control and injury.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY
1. Disconnect tool from power supply before cleaning, servicing or changing any parts or accessories.
2. Do not alter any part of the tool or accessories. All parts and accessories are designed with built-in safety
features that may be compromised if altered.
3. Double insulated tools eliminate the need for a three wire grounded power supply cord and grounded
power supply system. Instead the tool is equipped with a polarized plug that requires a polarized
outlet/power supply.
• A polarized plug has two blades of different widths, allowing only one way to insert the plug
into the outlet.
• Reverse the plug if it does not properly fit into the outlet.
• If the outlet does not accept a polarized plug, contact a qualified electrician to install a polarized outlet.
• Do not alter the plug as that can compromise built-in safety features.
4. Do not disconnect the power supply cord in place of using the ON/OFF switch on the tool. This will prevent
an accidental startup when the power supply cord is plugged into the power supply.
POWER SUPPLY CORD
1. Insert the power supply cord plug directly to the power supply whenever possible.
• Use extension cords or surge protectors only when the tool’s power cord cannot reach a power supply
from the work area (see below).
2. Do not operate this tool if the power supply cord is frayed or damaged. An electric shock may occur,
resulting in personal injury/death or damage the tool.
• Inspect the tool’s power supply cord for cracks, fraying or other faults in the insulation or plug before
each use.
• Discontinue use if a power supply cord feels more than comfortably warm while operating the tool.
• Take the following steps if either of the above situations occur:
- Tag or mark the tool as "defective" or "out of service" until repaired.
- Contact an electrician or qualified person to replace the power supply cord.
3. Prevent damage to the power supply cord by observing the following:
• Never use the power supply cord to carry the tool.
• Do not pull the plug from an outlet by the power supply cord.
• Keep the power supply cord clear of the tool and the tool’s work path while in operation. The power
supply cord should always stay behind the tool.
• Keep the power supply cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
• Do not allow people, mobile equipment or vehicles to pass over an unprotected power supply cord.
- Position power supply cords away from traffic areas.
- Place power supply cords in reinforced conduits.
- Place planks on either side of the power supply cord to create a protective trench.
• Do not wrap the power supply cord around tool as sharp edges may cut insulation or cause cracks if
wound too tight. Gently coil the power supply cord and either hang on a hook or fasten with a device to
keep power supply cord together when storing.

EXTENSION CORD
1. Use an extension cord that matches or exceeds the amperage rating of the tool. Using a power supply cord
that is too long or an incorrect gauge could cause the following hazards:
• Fire from overheating.
• Electric shock from melting or damaging the cord’s insulation.
• Underpowering the tool causing a functional failure, resulting in personal injury or damage the tool.
• A cord that is too long may create an obstacle hazard to others moving within the work area.
2. Use the tool without an extension cord whenever possible. Only use an extension cord as a temporary
means of reaching the power supply. Unroll the power supply cord completely to prevent it from overheating
and damaging the electrical insulation.
3. When operating a power tool outside, use an outdoor extension cord marked "W-A" or "W". These cords are
rated for outdoor use. Constructed of more durable materials, they can withstand temperature changes,
UV light (sunlight) and moisture, reducing the risk of electric shock.
4. Use in conjunction with a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). If operating a power tool in a damp
location is unavoidable, the use of a GFCI reduces the risk of electric shock. It is recommended that the GFCI
should have a rated residual current of 30 mA or less.
KICKBACK PRECAUTIONS
WARNING! Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged rotating wheel, backing
pad, brush or other accessory. The edge of the wheel enters the pinch point and digs into the
material, causing the wheel to climb out or kick out in the opposite direction of the cutting
blade’s rotation.
Kickback may result in:
• Serious injury to yourself or others.
• Loss of control over the tool.
• Damage to the tool or cutting blade.
• Damage to the workpiece.
Kickback is the result of improper use of the tool and can be avoided by taking proper precautions:
1. Always use both hands when operating the tool. Maintain a firm grip on the tool and position your body and
arms to allow you to resist kickback forces.
2. Never place your hand near the rotating accessory. If kickback occurs, the wheel may pass over your hand
and seriously injury you.
3. Use clamps or a vice to hold down the workpiece.
4. Do not position your body in a way that will allow the tool to strike you should kickback occur. Kickback will
propel the tool in the direction opposite to the wheel’s movement at the time of snagging.
5. Use special care when working on corners, sharp edges, etc. Corners, sharp edges or bouncing have a
tendency to snag the rotating accessory and cause loss of control or kickback.
6. Only use the cutting blades designed for this tile saw as listed in the Specifications.

SPECIFIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Warning ! Immediately switch off the saw if any of the following occurs:
• Malfunction of the plug, receptacle or damage to power supply cord.
• The switch or trigger is broken.
• The tool will not shut off.
• User sees or smells smoke.
• The user smells the odor of scorched insulation.
• The cutting blade is wobbling or loose.
• Sparks inside the housing.
1. Ensure power supply matches the voltage of the tool’s motor (120V AC, 60 Hz).
2. Make sure the power switch is in the OFF position before connecting the tool to the power supply.
3. A large amount of dust will be created when working with the tile saw. Hold the tool so material is
ejected away from you and other persons. Water supply attachments will reduce the amount of dust
during operation.
4. Water supplied to the cutting blade may spatter and collect on the ground, creating an electrical hazard.
• Cut tile at a location away from other electrical devices and power supplies when possible.
• Protect electrical devices, power and extension cords and power supplies from water spray and puddles
at all times.
• Ensure the tool’s power supply cord plug is protected from water produced during operation.
5. Never use a cracked or worn diamond cutting blade. Change the cutting blade before using.
CUTTING BLADE SPECIFIC PRECAUTIONS
1. Only use tile cutting blades that are approved for a speed of 13,000 RPM or greater (see Specifications).
2. Only use tile cutting blades with the correct arbor size for the spindle of the cutting blade
(see Specifications).
3. Never install more than one disc at a time.
4. Do not start the tool when the cutting blade is touching the workpiece.
5. Always use both hands when operating the tool.
6. Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact
hidden wiring or its own power supply cord. Contact with a "live" wire will make exposed metal parts of the
tool "live" and shock the operator.
7. Before using the tool on the workpiece, run the tool at the highest speed, without a load, for at least 30
seconds in a safe position. Stop immediately if there is any vibration or wobbling that could indicate poor
installation or a poorly balanced cutting blade. Check the tool to determine the cause.
8. During long work periods do not allow the motor to overload and/or overheat. Take work breaks to rest
the tool.
9. When the machine is in operation, keep hands away from the cutting area.
10. Do not subject the cutting blade to any lateral pressure as it may damage the tool or cause it to kickback.

11. Do not use the tool on any materials containing asbestos.
12. The cutting blade will not stop immediately when the machine is turned off. Exercise caution.
13. Do not place the tool down after use until the cutting blade has come to a complete stop.
14. Do not touch the cutting blade or the workpiece surface cut with this tool. They may be hot and could inflict
a burn injury, even when used with the water attachment.
TOOL USE AND CARE
1. Use the correct tool for the job. Do not force a small tool or attachment to do the work of a larger industrial
tool. Maximize tool performance and safety by using the tool for its intended task.
2. Do not modify this tool or use for a purpose for which it was not designed.
3. Securely hold this tool using both hands. Using tools with only one hand can result in loss of control.
4. Maintain tools with care. Keep tools clean, sharp and in good condition for an improved and safer
performance.
• Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.
• Inspect tool fittings, alignment, hoses and the power supply cord periodically and, if damaged, have
them repaired by an authorized technician or replaced.
• The handles must be kept clean, dry and free from oil and grease at all times.
• A properly maintained tool reduces the risk of binding and is easier to control.
• Sharp tools are safer than dull tools. You do not have to apply excessive amounts of force to make your
cuts. Applying excessive force can lead to slips and damage to your work or personal injury.
5. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches from the tool or machine before operation or before connecting
it to a power source. A wrench or key that is left attached to a rotating part of the tool increases the risk of
personal injury.
6. Avoid unintentional starts. Be sure that the ignition switch is in the neutral or OFF position when not
in use or before connecting it to any power source. Do not carry the tool with fingers near or on the
trigger/switch.
7. Maintain the label and nameplate on the tool. These carry important information. If unreadable or missing,
contact Princess Auto Ltd. for replacements.
LUBRICATION
1. Only use the lubricants supplied with the tool or specified by the manufacturer. Other lubricants may not be
suitable and may damage the tool or cause a malfunction during use.
2. When not in use for an extended period, apply a thin coat of lubricant to the steel parts to avoid rust.
Remove the lubricant before using the tool again.
UNPACKING
1. Carefully remove the parts and accessories from the box.
• Retain packaging material until you have carefully inspected and satisfactorily installed or operated
the tool.
2. Make sure that all items in the parts list are included.
3. Inspect the parts carefully to make sure the tools and accessories were not damaged while shipping.

OPERATION
PARTS IDENTIFICATION

ASSEMBLY
INSTALLING THE WATER SYSTEM
1. The waterspout is attached to the depth guide.
• The waterspout has two extensions to deliver water on either side of the cutting blade.
• The water flow is regulated by a shut off valve incorporated into the waterspout.
2. Push the end of the flexible waterpipe onto the waterspout inlet.
3. The water adapter is designed to fit over a faucet or the end of a hose. Push it into place until seated.
• A pressurized water source is required to maintain the water flow on the cutting blade, such as access to
the municipal water system through a tap.
REMOVING OR INSTALLING THE CUTTING BLADE
WARNING! Unplug tile saw before removing or installing a cutting blade.
To install remove or install a cutting blade the following is required:
• A new cutting blade
• The hexagon socket wrench included with the tile saw
• Wrench included with tile saw
• The tile saw
• Optional: Work gloves to protect hands
• Optional: Container to hold parts
• Optional: Clamp to hold tile saw

REMOVING TILE CUTTING BLADE
1. Set the tile saw to minimum cutting depth and lock into place by tightening the butterfly nut.
2. Set the tile saw down on its front on a flat, stable surface. The base is to the right side and the tool’s handle
on the left. The cutting blade’s block clamps are in the center, facing the user.
3. Secure or clamp the saw in place.
4. Place the supplied wrench around the raised octagon of the outer clamp. Use the same hand to steady the
tile saw, if the latter is not clamped in place.
5. Place the hexagon socket wrench over the block screw. Slowly twist clockwise to loosen nut.
CAUTION! A tight block screw may suddenly release during loosening and cause the hexagon
wrench to slip free of the bolt. If unprepared, the hand holding the wrench may receive a minor injury
from colliding with a nearby surface or object.
6. When loose enough, block screw may be unscrewed by hand. Hold outer clamp as it may fall when block
screw is removed. Place block screw, outer clamp and wrenches aside.
7. Hold inner clamp in place by putting your forefinger in the arbor hole.
8. Grip cutting blade and pull towards you until it is freed from the back clamp. It will still be between
the waterspouts.
9. Pull cutting blade to the upper right to remove from tool.
NOTE: Inner clamp may be removed from the arbor shaft at this time, as it is not held in place.
INSTALL TILE CUTTING BLADE
1. Insert inner clamp onto arbor shaft (if removed in prior step). The rectangular end of the arbor shaft fits in
the arbor hole of the inner clamp.
2. Insert cutting blade from the upper right so the cutting blade is between the waterspouts. Fit the rest of the
cutting blade within the blade guard assembly.
3. Position arbor hole on cutting blade over back clamp. Gently push until the cutting blade is firmly seated.
4. Fit the octagon recess on the outer clamp over the raised octagon of the inner clamp.
5. Insert block screw and turn anti-clockwise to tighten until the screw head is against the outer clamp.
6. Place the wrench around the raised square on the outer clamp to hold it in place.
7. Place the hexagon socket wrench on Block screw and tighten anti-clockwise.
CAUTION! Do not over-tighten nut as it may damage the cutting blade and impair the
effectiveness of the tile saw.

BEFORE OPERATING THE TILE SAW
CAUTION! Follow these steps before making the rst cut.
• Check that the tile saw is unplugged from the power supply until ready to cut.
• Choose the correct cutting blade for the material to be cut. Check the specifications that come with the
cutting blade before selection.
• Set the cutting blade depth to 1/8 in. beyond the material’s thickness.
• Clamp or secure the tile so the workpiece will not move during cutting.
• Check the material for obstructions or foreign objects (nails, staples, etc.).
• Check the workbench or work area below the material to ensure there are no obstructions that the
cutting blade may catch or cut.
• Ensure the power supply cord and water pipe are behind the tile saw before cutting.
OPERATION
CAUTION! Move slow-and-steady when cutting to avoid overheating the tool’s motor or causing
damage to the material.
CAUTION! Keep nger away from the tool’s trigger until ready to make a cut.
1. Turn the tool on and check that the cutting blade isn’t wobbling and the water is contacting both sides of the
cutting blade (unless a dry cut is being made).
2. Set the front of the tile saw base on the workpiece. Align the tool guide with the guideline marked
on the material:
• Use the left side of the tool guide when the cutting blade is 0°.
• Use the notch in tool guide when the cutting blade is 45°.
NOTE: Always check the actual alignment of the cutting blade with the guideline before cutting. The guide should
be used once the cut is underway, taking the actual alignment into account.
• The cutting blade should be on the waste side of the cutline to maintain the original measurement.
3. Allow the cutting blade to achieve full speed before making the cut. Maintain a firm grip when the cutting
blade comes in contact with the workpiece to prevent kickback. Move the tool in a straight line across the tile
until the cut is complete. Do not force the saw.
4. Press the lock button (left of the trigger) once with thumb to maintain power without the trigger. To
deactivate lock and reactivate trigger, press trigger again.
5. For a partial cut, keep the trigger depressed until the cutting blade is clear of the workpiece. Release the
trigger and let the cutting blade slow to a stop before putting the tool down or realigning for another cut.
6. Do not attempt to change the tool’s direction mid-cut. The cutting blade may bind and cause a kickback or
damage the tool or material. Should the cut be off the mark, remove the tool from the workpiece, release the
trigger and wait for the cutting blade to stop rotating. Realign the tool and resume cutting.

MAINTENANCE
CAUTION! While maintaining and cleaning the tile saw, disconnect the power supply cord from the
power supply. Never use water or other corrosive liquids to clean electrical parts of the tool. Periodic
maintenance of the tile saw will prevent unnecessary problems.
1. The carbon brushes should be checked periodically and worn-out brushes should be replaced (see Replacing
Carbon Brushes).
2. Keep the vent passage clear of accumulated dirt, dust and oil.
3. Clean the tool after each use.
• Use a soft brush to remove grit from waterspouts and run water to confirm the spouts are clear.
4. If any problems occur during normal operation, disconnect the power supply at once and have the tool
checked and repaired.
CAUTION! Only qualied service personnel should repair the tool.
REPLACING CARBON BRUSHES
1. Using the parts list included, locate the carbon brushes. Remove the brush holder caps with a screwdriver
and inspect the carbon brushes. Replace them when 2/3 of each brush is worn away.
2. Take the old brush out and install new brushes. Make sure the brush slides freely within the brush housing.
3. Run the motor for 15 minutes without load to shape the brushes, so that they are properly aligned with
the commutator.
DISPOSING OF TOOL
If your tool has become damaged beyond repair, do not throw it out. Bring it to the appropriate
recycling facility.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
