TRI-CHANNEL COLD PAN OPERATION AND INSTALLATION:
CAUTION
Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service or maintenance can cause property damage, injury
or death. Read the installation, operating and maintenance instructions thoroughly before installing this
equipment.
Side Mount Controls Instruction
1. This Tri-Channel Cold Pan Unit can be reconfigured so that the controls are accessible on either
side of the unit.
2. Remove 4 mount screws from the control assembly and cut zip ties on thermostat lead; Figure 1.
3. Carefully maneuver control assembly through the condensing section of the unit to the side
position desired; Figure 2.
4. Remove 2 screws from the back of the thermostat and reposition the screws in the top two
thermostat mounting holes; Figure 3.
5. To mount the control assembly to the side angle install 2 mounting screw in the front and 2
mounting screws into the back of the control assembly; Figure 4.
6. With zip ties, tie up extra slack in compressor chord and thermostat lead.
7. The controls are now side mounted; Figure 5. When installing the unit in this configuration, be
careful not to damage control section when maneuvering it into the counter.
If unit is configured with drains, follow these steps to reconfigure the control access:
1. Remove 2 bolts and 2 nuts from the sides of the control section; Figure 6.
2. Carefully maneuver controls through the condensing section and remove the bolts from the back
of the control box; Figure 2.

Installation Instructions
1. The Tri-Channel Cold Pan Unit is to be dropped into a 24 ½” x 17 ¼” top cut-out; Figure 8. The
cabinet that the unit is dropped into should provide 400 sq. in. of breathing area at the inlet and
outlet ends of the condensing unit. There should be no wall within 6” of the compressor housing.
2. Remove crating from the Tri-Channel Unit; Figure 9. To protect the controls of this unit keep the
protective packing material on the control until installation is complete.
3. Apply a generous bead of silicone rubber sealant such as Dow Corning “RTV” or G. E. Silicone
sealant to the top rim.
4. Place two of the crate boards on each long edge of the cut-out; Figure 10.
5. Using two individuals and proper lifting techniques, lift Tri-Channel Unit off of the skid and slowly
maneuver it into the cut out and rest top rim on boards, Figure 11.
6. Carefully remove the board from under the top rim; Figure 12.
7. Any excess sealant that squeezes out between the unit top rim and counter top should be wiped
off before sealant cures or stripped away with a knife after curing.
8. In order to remove part of the load from the top rim, the bottom of the unit must be supported
with metal components that are compatible with the construction of the counter; Figure 13.
9. Plug cord into a properly grounded NEMA 5-15 outlet. Remove packing material from the control
assembly.
10. If this unit is provided with drains, the drain must be connected in accordance with local
plumbing codes.

CAUTION
For Your Safety: Electricity and water do not mix, unplug unit before cleaning. If repairs are
required, use a qualified service agent. While repairs are being made, be sure the unit is not plugged
in. Do not store highly combustible substances on or near the unit. Be sure the compressor
compartment has adequate ventilation.
To protect from possible severe electrical shock, this appliance is designed to be connected to a
properly grounded electrical circuit.
For a cord connected appliance: In order to provide proper grounding, it is essential that the grounding
prong of the plug be inserted into a properly grounded receptacle. If you do not know whether a
receptacle is properly grounded, consult a licensed electrician.
Never insert the plug into a receptacle if the cord is frayed or damaged or if the plug has been altered
or damaged.
General Information
1. Always clean equipment thoroughly before first use. (See general cleaning instructions.)
2. Check rating label for your model designation & electrical rating.
3. The cold pan needs to be pre-chilled for 30 minutes before product is loaded.
4. The cold pan is design to hold pre-chilled (33°F to 40°F) product. Do not place warm product
(above 40°F) in the cold pan as it is not designed to reduce the temperature of the product.
General Operating Instructions:
Turn Tri-Channel Unit on by positioning power switch to the up position; Figure 14.
Set timer by consulting the instruction manual provided; Figure 15. Timer is to be set for a 45
minute defrost at 9:15 AM, 1:15 PM, 5:15 PM, 9:15 PM, 1:15AM, 5:15 AM, and start at 9:15 am
again. Run time is 3 hr and 15 min. (Call 1-800-735-3853 technical service for assistance if
necessary). It is recommended that the product be removed during the 30 minute defrost time

Adjusting Thermostatic Control (Duke Part# 212450):
Your Tri-Channel cold pan has been preset in the factory to satisfy most applications. Due to
conditions which may exist in your operation, you may need to adjust the thermostat on your unit
for colder or warmer temperature. The thermostat is located on the control assembly of the unit.
Normally, the temperature setting would be about 12°F. Temperature controls set 30-35 F/Diff. 15 F
in 70 – 80 F ambient.
The temperature of your unit may be adjusted by turning the gray knob on top of the control. This
will, in turn, move the needle on the thermostat dial marked "Cut-in", which is the temperature
indicated on the right hand scale of the control. The "Cut-in" temperature indicates the temperature
at which the condensing unit will begin to run and cool the liner.
NOTICE: Field adjustment of the "differential" setting must not be made by other than
qualified refrigeration service personnel. Unauthorized tampering with the "differential"
setting may void the warranty on this equipment.
General Cleaning Instructions
Unit should be turned off and cleaned daily.
1. Remove product from cold pan.
2. Turn unit off and allow cold pan walls to defrost.
3. Wipe cold pan dry with towel.
4. Clean unit with warm soapy water or mild cleanser.
5. Clean filter monthly in warm soapy water.
6. A plastic scouring pad and a mild detergent may be used to remove hardened food.
Warning:
Do not use any highly caustic cleaners, acids or ammonia. These may cause corrosion and/or
damage to the stainless steel top or the painted surfaces.
