A fun sorting and placing game for 1-2 children age 2+
Dear Parents
Congratulations on your decision to invest in this HABA product.
You have made a smart choice, as it offers your child many ways to
develop through play.
These instructions offer many hints and suggestions about how
to discover, with your child, the wooden parts and use them for
different game ideas. In this way, different skills are fostered: fine
motor skills, concentration, careful observation, as well as assigning
colors and shapes. But first and foremost playing will be a lot of fun!
Learning happens through playing, almost effortlessly.
We wish your child lots of fun playing, pegging, sorting and explo-
ring!

1 sorting box, 2 sliding lids, 5 sorting blocks, 1 die,
set of game instructions
ENGLISH
Game Idea #1: Pegging and classifying
In free play your child can explore the different sorting blocks and
the sorting box. Play with your child! Show him the different holes
and the matching sorting blocks. Let him freely explore.
For the classifying game the two lids showing a racing car are slid
face up into the sorting box: place the sliding lid with the holes in
the upper rail and the lid showing the racing car driver in the lower
rail.
Turn the blocks so that the child can see the motifs printed on
them. Now he can sort the blocks into the holes.
When your child has finished sorting the blocks pull out the lower
lid in one fell swoop while keeping the upper lid in place with
your thumb. All the blocks will fall down and the pegging fun can
start all over again. When pulling the lid it may happen that the
blocks jam slightly between the lids, just tilt the box slightly.
Now the lid can be pulled out again.

Game Idea #2: Die Game (for 2 children)
For the die game turn over both sliding lids. Now place the green
side and the side with the colored shapes face up: slide the lid
with the holes in the upper rail and the lid showing the shapes in
the lower rail. Turn the blocks so that their plain color side is face
up. Each child receives two blocks and the white triangle is placed
in the center of the table. Get the die ready.
The aim of the die game is to be the first to be left without blocks.
The younger child starts and passes the die through the square
hole of the lid. The die will fall inside the sorting box where it hits
a dowel and bounces off. The die spins and rolls out of the box.
What appears on the die?
s¬!¬SHAPE
Compare the shape with the blocks in front of you. If you have
a block of this shape, introduce it into the matching hole of the
upper sliding lid. If you don’t have the corresponding block pass
the die on to the other child.
s¬4HE¬WHITE¬TRIANGLE
Take the triangle from the center and place it in the matching
hole. Then pass the die on to the other child.
s¬4HE¬BIRD
You were lucky and can choose which block you want to sort.
The first child to be left without any blocks wins the game.
6ARIATION¬FOR¬OLDER¬CHILDREN
Play according to the basic game taking into account the following
change: if a child rolls a shape on the die that has already been
sorted in he has to take back the corresponding block. In this way
it will be more difficult to sort all the blocks.
