Installation
Fitting to the wall
Attention: Installation
involves connection to the
mains power supply. 230 V
means danger to life! There-
fore, switch off the power
first and use a voltage test-
er to make sure the wiring
is off circuit. Installing the
SensorLight involves work
on the mains power supply;
this work must therefore be
carried out professionally
in accordance with national
wiring regulations.
Undo the screw on the top.
Remove screw and pull out
wall mount. Do not detach
the internal wiring
connected
to the terminal block but
gently pull out the entire
terminal.
Hold the mounting plate
against the wall and mark
where to the drill the holes,
paying attention to any wir-
ing concealed in the wall.
Drill holes and insert rawl
plugs. To conduct a switch-
ing operation, the mains
connection must be fed
in by at least a two-core
cable.
For this purpose, pierce the
mounting plate and fit seal-
ing plug. After feeding the
cable through, the mount-
ing plate can be screwed
into place and aligned.
Connection of the mains
lead
The mains lead consists of
a 2 to 3-core cable.
L = phase conductor
(usually black or brown)
N = neutral conductor
(usually blue)
PE = protective-earth
conductor, if present
(green/yellow)
If in doubt, the conductors
must be identified with a
voltage tester; subsequently
disconnect the power sup-
ply again. Phase (L) and
neutral conductor (N) must
be connected to the termin-
als already holding a cable
of the same colour. The
protective-earth conductor
(PE) must be sealed off with
insulation tape.
Important: Getting the
cable connections crossed
will produce a short circuit
in the unit or in your fuse
box. In this case, you must
identify the individual con-
ductors once again and
re-connect them. A mains
switch for switching the
light "ON" and "OFF" can
of course be installed in the
mains lead.

Principle
Movement triggers lights,
alarms and many other
devices. For your con-
venience, for your safety
and your security. Whether
at the front door, on the
garage, patio or carport, in
the stairwell, storage room
or basement, this Sensor-
Light is quickly installed
and ready for operation.
The integrated pyroelectric
infrared detector senses
the invisible heat radi-
ated from moving objects
(people, animals, etc.). This
heat detected in this way
is converted electronically
into a signal that switches
the light on. Heat is not
detected through obstacles,
such as walls or panes of
glass. Heat radiation of this
type will, therefore, not trig-
ger the sensor.
Focal points and angles of
vision of the STEINEL 360°
lens (with 120° angle of
aperture)
a) Sensor lens aimed forward b) Sensor lens aimed down c) Sensor lens aimed back
The most reliable way of
detecting movement is to
install the light with the sen-
sor at a slight angle to the
direction in which a person
would walk and by ensuring
that no obstacles (such as
trees, walls etc.) obstruct
the line of sensor vision.
Please note: Full reach of
12 m is best achieved by
turning only the top row of
lens segments below the
casing.
