I mowers. These mowers are A.N.S.I. 871.4 1984 approved. This chapter is
r designed to assist you, the owner/operator, to become sufficiently equipped to

transport, maintenance, and storage of the mower. Good judgement and com-
mon sense should always prevail. Take efforts to prevent the possibility of un- ~
authorized or unknown use, or availability of this mower to anyone outside your ~
direct supervision. Always remove and store key when mower is not in use. j
1 READ AND THOROUGHLY UNDERSTAND THIS MANUAL, and all decals on t
unit, BEFORE attempting to operate ~

SAFETY SUMMARY

. 7 ALWAYS BE ALERT when operating mower. DO NOT let outside interests dis-
tract you.
8 ALWAYS CLEAR AREA to be mowed of any foreign objects (stones, wire, cans,
bottles, etc. that could be picked up and thrown by mower.
9 ALWAYS DISENGAGE ALL attachment levers BEFORE ATTEMPTING to start
mower.
10 ALWAYS DISENGAGE POWER TAKE-OFF (PTO) attachments, RETURN ALL
levers to NEUTRAL POSITION, STOP engine and REMOVE key PRIOR to leaving
operator's seat FOR ANY reason.

11 ALWAYS DISENGAGE power, STOP engine, and REMOVE spark plug wire, ~
J before attempting any inspection, adjustment, cleaning, or repair. ~
i 12 When not mowing, DO NOT drive (transport) the mower with cutting deck
blades engaged.

13 USE CARE when mowing around fixed objects. NEVER deliberately run over
foreign objects as damage to mower and/or injury to others may result.
. 14 NEVER MOW on a surface angle greater than 15 degrees. ALWAYS MOW
ACROSS the face on slopes of 15 degrees or less - NEVER UP AND DOWN. DO
NOT ATTEMPT sudden starts or stops when mowing on a slope. AVOID SUDDEN
TURNS and use EXTREME CAUTION when changing directions on any slope. =~
15 IF MOWER STOPS while going uphill, DISENGAGE BLADE and BACK
MOWER SLOWLY down hill.
16 Use CARE when operating near, or crossing roadways.
17 DISENGAGE cutting deck blades when backing up. DO NOT MOW IN
REVERSE as a practice. IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to mow in reverse,
ALWAYS OBSERVE AREA UNDER AND BEHIND YOU before mowing.
18 Mower and attachments SHOULD BE STOPPED AND INSPECTED AFTER
STRIKING ANY FOREIGN OBJECT. ANY DAMAGE should be repaired before
using mower again.

NOTE - Looking at tractor from cutting section, lift arm ~'\

side of tractor mounting bracket. Left lift arm will go
against inside of tractor mounting bracket.
4 Secure each rod end (3) with each lift arm (5 and 6) to tractor mounting brack-
ets (10 and 11) with bolt (12), washer (13), and nut (14).

NOTE - Do not force halves of PTO shaft together.
Forcing them together indicates that they are not
properly aligned and will cause severe damage
to unit. When splines are aligned correctly, halves
will slide together easily.
5 Align marks on pro shaft (15) and join halves of pro shaft (15) together.
6 Secure cutting section half of PTO shaft (15) to mower with roll pin (16) and
setscrew (17).

. Secure lift cylinder rod end (10) to cutting section lift bracket (2) with clevis
pin (11) , hairpin clip (12) and spacer (13).
9 Tighten nut (1) on idler tension rod to adjust tension of drive belt. Go to STEP
13.

4 Re-assemble parts (1) through (13) and adjust both front caster wheels (14) to
desired height using necessary combination of spacers (4), (5) and (6). Measure
height and record for reference.
S Re-assemble parts (15) through (25) and adjust both rear carriage wheels (26)
to the recorded height of front caster wheels (14) PLUS 1/8" using the necessary
combination of spacers (15) through (20).

i! . Careful inspection and servicing of the mower will aid in locating possible
: defects, correcting defects or preventing them. Perform these items as outlined
here to ensure the highest level of reliability and safety. OBSERVE THESE, AND
