This appliance has to be installed in an environment defined in pollution
degree 2 / Overvoltage category II or better for a max. altitude of 2000 m.
Before any installation or maintenance work, make sure the power supply
of the instrument is cut.
This symbole indicates that the module is protected by a double or
reinforced isolation.
The person who has designed the system (electrical installation including
the instrument) is sole responsable for the safety and must make sure it
has been designed according to the current safety standards.
This appliance contains electronic components and
should not be disposed of with the domestic waste.
It should be collected with the WEEE (Waste Elec-
trical and Electronic Equipment), according to the
current regulation.
The instrument may be connected to dangerous electrical
voltages.
It must be mounted, connected and implemented respecting
the current specific regulations, by a qualified technician, trai-
ned to the safety regulations, who will have read this manual.

1. INTRODUCTION
The TPIs 4R is a module of 4 relay outputs, extra narrow (7.2mm) designed
for DIN rail mounting.
It belongs necessarily to a local network made up of converters and modu-
les (one of the converters is the «master», the TPIs 4R is always «slave»).
Each converter or module is fixed on the DIN rail via a 5 points footing which
allows the communication and the supply of the TPIs of the network (24Vdc
±30%).
The modules TPIs 4R allow to increase the number of the relay outputs
associated with the measure of each of the converters of the network.
Up to 50 TPIs can be connected on the same bus and up to 200 different
measures can be made to transit ; In this configuration the maximum scan-
ning time is 200ms.
The programming is performed via the µUSB connector located on the front
face, which is to be connected to a computer of the type PC equipped with
the software SlimSet.

1.2 Functions
1.2.1 Relay control = direct control
Choice of the coil status if the associated logic input is «active».
1.2.2 Relay control = setpoint
Choice of the status of the LED associated with the relay:
The status of the LED is the image of the alarm status:
LED lit = on alarm
LED still = off alarm
Hysteresis of the alarm:
Programmable from 0 to 100% of the setpoint value.
The hysteresis is active on switching to the status «off alarm».
Mode setpoint:
1 setpoint configurable over the whole measure range
Mode window:
2 setpoints configurable over the whole measure range
Type of safety:
HIGH:
The relay coil is powered if:
measure > setpoint (in mode setpoint)
measure < setpoint 1 or measure > setpoint 2
(in mode window)
LOW:
The relay coil is powered if:
measure < setpoint (in mode setpoint)
setpoint 1 < measure < setpoint 2 (in mode window)
Time delay on the alarm:
The relay time delay is adjustable from 0 to 25 seconds, in 0.1s increments.
It is active both on switching and switching back.
Alarm recording:
Allows to record the alarm after a setpoint has been passed. When the
measure reverts below the alarm setpoint, the relay remains on and the
LED blinks to warn the user that the setpoint has been passed (zero reset
by programming).
Weight and width of the pulse programmable if driven by an integrating
converter TPIs 61 or TPIs 261.

2. CONFIGURATION OF THE NETWORK
First start by launching the configuration software SlimSet.
The purpose is to define your network using the software.
1) Connect a USB cable on the first instrument of the bus (the most on the left
or the most on the right).
Click on «communication with the devices» and then on «add the connected
device to the architecture».
The instrument will be recognized, and the software will request its position
within the architecture. Enter it, and do the same for all the instruments of the
bus.
2) Then choose the instrument which will be the master (TPIs or TPIvM) and
programme it as master if it is a TPIs (the orange led becomes active).

Important:
From the version 2.02 of the TPIs it is possible to access the configuration of
the instruments of the bus directly from the master.
In this case first connect the instrument defined as master (TPIs or TPIvM),
programme it as master if it is a TPIs and click on «communication through the
master» and then «add or remove some devices».
The software will then take up all the instruments present on the bus and read
their configuration one by one.
For each instrument detected, the SlimSet will request its position on the archi-
tecture. This position can be determined by a specific blinking of the green led
of the concerned instrument (morse code blinking: twice on, once off).
3) Then programme each of the instruments, as well as the links between ins-
truments:
for each of the outputs of the output modules (TPIs 4R, TPIs 2A/4A ...) you
must define the converter associated with this output, as well as the measure
associated with this output.
4) Then transfer the programming of all the instruments of the bus.
Important :
From the version 2.02 of the TPIs, it is possible to transfer the programming of
the TPIs directly from the master.
For this purpose, connect yourself on the master and click on «communication
with the devices» and then «communication through the master» and then «send
the configuration of all devices».
Then transfer the programming of the master.
5) Then validate the bus. For this purpose connect yourself on the master, click on
«validate network».
This will record the configuration of the bus in order to point out any error (loss of
a module for example).
The network must always be validated after adding / removing an instrument and
after the modification of all the links between instruments.

The TPIs of the nework must be mounted one
after another.

The product must be installed by qualified staff, competent on the directives
and the regulation applicable to the area 2.
It must be installed in a protecting enveloppe conform with the EN 60079-15.
The operator must ensure an external protection in order to prevent transient
disturbances on the supply of the modules higher than 40% of the nominal
voltage.
The USB cable must be inserted or withdrawn only if the instrument has been
set off tension or if the area is safe.
The converter must be disconnected from its DIN rail footing only if the
rail supply has been set off tension or if the area is safe.
The installation must be done according to the EN 60079-14 : 2014.
• INSTALLATION IN DIVISION 2 (cFMus)
Class I, Div.2, Groups A,B,C,D T4

The product must be installed by qualified staff, competent on the directives
and the regulation applicable to the division 2.
It must be installed in an additional protecting enveloppe ensuring a protection
at least of the type IP54.
The USB cable must be inserted or withdrawn only if the instrument has been
set off tension or if the area is safe.
The converter must be disconnected from its DIN rail footing only if the
rail supply has been set off tension or if the area is safe.
The installation must be done according to the Canadian Electrical Code Part
1 (for Canada) and the National Electrical Code / NFPA 70 (for the USA).

directives et la législation applicables à la division 2.
Il doit être installé dans une enveloppe protectrice additionnelle assurant une

OPTION C
)
With the option C you can have on the TPIs 4R-C 10 calculation formulas,
programmable in a dynamic way, using operators, pre-defined functions, col-
lected measures, external registers of the TPIs 4R-C and 16 programmable
constants. You can create groups of measures in order to perform operations
directly on the whole group.
These 10 results can be directly associated with all the instruments of the
network.
Example of formula:
if ((Measure 1 constant 0) AND (Measure 4 = True)) then (True)
Constant 0 = 525°
Measure 1 = Measure of the temperature of a furnace
Measure 4 = logic input
If the temperature of the furnace is 525° and if the logic input is active then
the result of the formula is true.
