REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
A top mounted, self-contained, balanced refrigeration system using R-134a refriger-
ant is conveniently located behind the one-piece louver assembly. It features a ple-
num effect blower, large, high humidity evaporator coil located outside the food zone,
coated with a plastic to retard corrosion, and a top mounted non-electric condensate
evaporator. A cord and plug is supplied standard.
INTERIOR ARRANGEMENTS
Standard interior arrangements for reach-in model RHT232WUTET include nine-
teen (19) #1 tray slides per section to facilitate thawing. The roll-in model
RRI232LUTET is designed to accommodate two (2) roll-in racks. Readily remov-
able, interior mounted, stainless steel guides for racks are provided for protection.
Maximum rack size with wheels inboard of frame is 27” wide by 29” deep by 66” high.

SPECIFICATIONS APPLYING TO EVEN-THAW REFRIGERATOR OPERATION
APPLICATION OVERVIEW:
The Even-Thaw is designed to thaw product at safe temperatures. By keeping the
cabinet temperature from rising above 40°F, the Even-Thaw inputs small amounts of
heat while moving large volumes of air around the product. This design allows the
product to thaw at refrigerated temperatures that minimize bacteria growth.
When in Even-Thaw mode, the refrigeration system is disabled and a second control
adds enough heat to keep the cabinet at the upper limit of normal refrigerator tem-
peratures. The rate at which frozen product absorbs heat gradually slows as it warms.
During the Even-Thaw process, the unit will continue to operate in this mode (refrig-
eration OFF, blower and heater ON) until the product being thawed can no longer
absorb the heat as fast as it is being put into the cabinet. When this happens, the air
temperature will slowly rise to 40°F at which time the heater will turn OFF and the
refrigeration system will begin to cycle. As the refrigeration system begins to cycle
the product continues to thaw. Based on the product being thawed and the way it is
loaded, the end-user will have to determine how much time it takes to thaw each
particular product.
PRODUCT LOADING GUIDELINES:
THE EVEN-THAW IS DESIGNED TO BE LOADED TO CAPACITY FOR EACH EVEN-
THAW CYCLE. When the unit is cycling at refrigerator temperatures (approximately
36°F to 39°F), load the cabinet with frozen product to be thawed. If possible, remove
all packaging and place the product directly on aluminum sheet pans for optimum
heat transfer. While it is possible to Even-Thaw product that is wrapped, it will be
slower than if it were unwrapped. At the very least the packaging should be opened
to allow air to circulate. Also, it is not recommended to thaw product that is stored or
packaged in cardboard boxes. Product should be placed on the pans in a single
layer; each pan should be filled with as much product as can be arranged without the
pieces touching each other. The cabinet should be loaded with as many pans as it
will hold and still allow air circulation on all sides of the pan.
WARRANTIES
The standard warranty includes a five year compressor warranty and a one year
parts and labor warranty on all components and the cabinet. Additional warranties
are available at extra cost.
CONSTRUCTION, HARDWARE AND INSULATION
Cabinet exterior, including front, one piece sides, louver assembly and doors are
constructed of heavy gauge stainless steel. Cabinet interior is constructed of stain-
less steel. Exterior cabinet top, back and bottom are constructed of heavy gauge
aluminized steel. Adjustable 6” high stainless steel legs are included (reach-in model
only).
Doors are equipped with removable plug cylinder locks and guaranteed for life cam-
lift, gravity action, self-closing metal, glide hinges with stay open feature at 120°.
Hinges include a switch to automatically activate the interior incandescent lighting.
Guaranteed for life, work flow door handle is mounted horizontally over recess in
door which limits protrusion from door face into aisleways.
Vinyl magnetic door gaskets assure tight door seal and are easily removable for
cleaning. Anti-condensate heaters are located behind each door opening.
Cabinet contains high density, non-CFC, foamed in place polyurethane insulation.
Even Thaw Operation
The adaptation for a fast thaw refrigerator includes controlled heat input to operate
during the initial stage of thawing. Also, additional air movement is provided to
speed up the exchange of heat.
In order to fast thaw safely, an automatic temperature limiting control is used to
separately govern heater operation. A control to automatically convert to refrigera-
tor operation at the proper time is also provided.
Initiation of even-thaw operation is automatic when inside cabinet air temperatures
drop below 32°F or manually by depressing and releasing a converter switch mounted
to the front of the cabinet.
