Addendum to the Release Notes for the Business Policy Switch 2000
Introduction
This release note addendum for the Nortel Networks Business Policy Switch
2000
provides additional information about software and operational issues that
was not included in the related Business Policy Switch guides.
IGMP Configuration known problems
If you enable the IGMP Fast JOIN and LEAVE feature, an IGMPv2 multicast
router must be connected to your network.
To set the Fast JOIN and LEAVE operational mode, refer to Using the Business
Policy Switch 2000 and Using Web-based Management for the Business Policy
Switch 2000. For Fast JOIN and LEAVE information, refer to Release Notes for
the Business Policy Switch 2000.
High Speed Flow Control Autonegotiation known
problems
When the High Speed Flow Control Autonegotiation feature is set to enabled (the
default), the port only advertises support for 1000 Mb/s operation, in full-duplex
mode. If you experience problems between the Business Policy Switch and other
network devices, set Autonegotiation to disabled on both sides of the link.
Note: Go to the support.baynetworks.com/library/tpubs/ URL and
locate the Business Policy Switch 2000 section for the most recent
product information. Use Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the manuals
and release notes, search for the sections you need, and print them on
most standard printers. Go to Adobe Systems at www.adobe.com to
download a free copy of Acrobat Reader.
4 MultiLink Trunk Configuration known problems
210676-A
MultiLink Trunk Configuration known problems
If a unit fails or is defaulted and the unit has a distributed MultiLink Trunk
(DMLT) with multiple VLANs configured, the MultiLink Trunk Configuration
console interface screen continues to display the trunk as enabled. If this occurs,
disable the DMLT to prevent the continuation of inconsistent VLAN membership
on the trunk.
MAC Address Security Configuration known problems
The following are known problems with MAC Address Security Configuration
features:
Clear by Ports
Clears the specified port (or ports) that are listed in the Allowed Source field
of the MAC Address Security Table screen. When you specify a port (or
ports) to be cleared using this field, the specific port (or ports) are supposed to
be cleared for each of the entries listed in the MAC Address Security Table.
At this time, the Clear by Ports field does not effectively clear ports. Nortel
Networks recommends that you manually clear ports by entering
00-00-00-00-00-00
for each entry you want to clear.
Current Learning Mode
Indicates the current learning mode for the switch ports. When the Current
Learning Mode field is set to Learning in Progress, all source MAC addresses
of any packets received on the specified port (or ports) are added to the MAC
Security Table. Currently, exceeding 445 entries may result in a system
failure. Nortel Networks recommends that you set this field to
Disabled if
you anticipate using more than 445 MAC addresses.
Device Manager known problems 5
