New Features
Your Model 3151 CSU or Model 3161 DSU/CSU has new features installed that are not yet reflected in
the associated reference card. Please keep this document with your reference card until a new reference
card is available.
New User Interface Configuration Options
Com Use: ASCII
Next Mgmt ASCII Term Prev
Communication Port Use. Specifies how the communication port is used.
Mgmt – Configures the communication port as the link to an SNMP or Telnet system.
ASCII – Configures the communication port as a proprietary ASCII port supporting Front Panel Emulation software
and ASCII alarm messages. Only one ASCII communication port is allowed per 3000 Series carrier.
Term – Configures the communication port as the interface to an async terminal.
CmInActTm: Disab

Communication Port Inactivity Timeout. Specifies whether the communication port disconnects after a period of
inactivity specified by the CmDiscTm configuration option.
Enab – The communication port disconnects after the period of inactivity specified by CmDiscTm.
Disab – The communication port does not disconnect due to inactivity.

Save – Stores the time delay for use with inactivity disconnects.

SNMP Trap Disconnect. Specifies whether the modem connection or carrier external communication port device
connection is disconnected after sending a trap message. This configuration option applies only to modem
connections or carrier external communication port device connections initiated as a result of the trap message
being sent.
Enab – Specifies that the modem call or carrier external communication port device call is disconnected after a trap
message is sent.
Disab – Specifies that the modem call or carrier external communication port device call is not disconnected after a
trap message is sent. The line is held until it is manually disconnected or disconnected by the remote modem.
NOTE: This configuration option is only available if SNMP traps are enabled and the integral modem or the carrier
external communication port device is enabled and configured as an SNMP management link.
