Thegroundsurfacemustbecompactedandfirmenoughtowithstandthe
pressure and weight of a fully set up pool. Do Not set up the pool on mud, sand,
soft or loose soil condition, deck, platform, concrete, asphalt or any other hard
surfaces.

CertaintypesofgrasssuchasSt.AugustineandBermuda,maygrowthroughtheliner.
Grass growing through the liner it is not a manufacture defect.
4.
Theareashallfacilitatedrainageofthepoolwateraftereachuseand/orforlongterm
pool storage.
Barriers for Residential Swimming Pool Guidelines:
Anoutdoorswimmingpool,includinganinground,aboveground,orongroundpool,hottub,
orspa,shouldbeprovidedwithabarrierwhichcomplieswiththefollowing:
1.
Thetopofthebarriershouldbeatleast48inchesabovegrademeasuredontheside
ofthebarrierwhichfacesawayfromtheswimmingpool.Themaximumvertical
clearance between grade and the bottom of the barrier should be 4 inches measured on
thesideofthebarrierwhichfacesawayfromtheswimmingpool.Wherethetopofthe
pool structure is above grade, such as an aboveground pool, the barrier may be at
groundlevel,suchasthepoolstructure,ormountedontopofthepoolstructure.Where
the barrier is mounted on top of the pool structure, the maximum vertical clearance
between the top of the pool structure and the bottom of the barrier should be 4 inches.

Openingsinthebarriershouldnotallowpassageofa4-inchdiametersphere.
3.
Solid barriers, which do not have openings, such as a masonry or stone wall, should not
contain indentations or protrusions except for normal construction tolerances and tooled
masonry joints.
4.
Wherethebarrieriscomposedofhorizontalandverticalmembersandthedistance
between the tops of the horizontal members is less than 45 inches, the horizontal
members should be located on the swimming pool side of the fence. Spacing between
verticalmembersshouldnotexceed1-3/4inchesinwidth.Wheretherearedecorative
cutouts,spacingwithinthecutoutsshouldnotexceed1-3/4inchesinwidth.

Wherethebarrieriscomposedofhorizontalandverticalmembersandthedistance
between the tops of the horizontal members is 45 inches or more, spacing between
verticalmembersshouldnotexceed4inches.Wheretherearedecorativecutouts,
spacingwithinthecutoutsshouldnotexceed1-3/4inchesinwidth.
6.
Maximummeshsizeforchainlinkfencesshouldnotexceed1-1/4inchsquareunlessthe
fence is provided with slats fastened at the top or the bottom which reduce the openings
tonomorethan1-3/4inches.
7.
Wherethebarrieriscomposedofdiagonalmembers,suchasalatticefence,the
maximumopeningformedbythediagonalmembersshouldbenomorethan1-3/4
inches.
8.
AccessgatestothepoolshouldcomplywithSectionI,Paragraphs1through7,and
should be equipped to accommodate a locking device. Pedestrian access gates should
open outward, away from the pool, and should be self-closing and have a self latching
device. Gates other than pedestrian access gates should have a self-latching device.
Wherethereleasemechanismoftheself-latchingdeviceislocatedlessthan54inches
fromthebottomofthegate,(a)thereleasemechanismshouldbelocatedonthepool
sideofthegateatleast3inchesbelowthetopofthegateand(b)thegateandbarrier
shouldhavenoopeninggreaterthan1/2inchwithin18inchesofthereleasemechanism.
9.
Whereawallofadwellingservesaspartofthebarrier,oneofthefollowingshouldapply:
