About the Board
This product is an accessory board that provides simultaneous sampling function for the Analog E series
boards.
Features
Simultaneous Sampling
This product has 16 sample/hold amplifiers.
These sample/hold amplifiers hold analog input signals simultaneously on 16 channels. The signals
are captured when the amplifiers receive a control signal from the analog E series board.
This product samples signals on 16 channels simultaneous.
Easy connection with an external signal according to the M3 terminal block
This product has terminal blocks (M3 screw type) for connecting analog input signals.
It also has terminals (M3 screw type) for connecting analog output signals from analog E series board.
These terminal blocks enable easy wire connection to the external equipment.
Furthermore, there is an extension connector, which enables the connection with an optional BNC
connector terminal (ATP-16) etc.
Others
- Easy to connect with the analog E series board through an optional calbe (PCB37PS-0.5P).
- Either PC power (via CN1) or an external power source can be used to supply power to this
product.
- This product can be installed on the DIN rail using the optional DIN rail installation adapter
(DIN-ADP1).

If the external power source has been set by JP1, connect the external power to this terminal
block.
CN3: Analog output signal terminal block
This terminal block connects the analog output signal (OUT0) of the analog E series board to
an external equipment.
The output signal (OUT0) is also connected to the CN6's OUT0 pin.
CN4: Terminal blocks for analog input signals (CH0 - CH7)
These terminal blocks connect analog signal from external equipment. These signal lines of
CH0 - CH7 are also connected with the same signal lines (CH0 - CH7) of the CN6 connector.
CN5: Terminal blocks for analog input signals
(CH8 - CH15)
These terminal blocks connect analog signal from external equipment. These signal lines of

Caution on Use
How to deal with the input connector when no signal was input
When no signal is connected to the input terminal, please connect the input pin with analog ground.
Otherwise, if the input terminal is open, it will be effected by the nearby channels.
Power Supply
This product’s power supply can be selected by using jumper JP1<from CN1>. When the accessory
board obtain the power from Analog E series card, please using the option cable (PCB37PS-0.5P) which
length is 0.5m.
When offering the power by using long cable or high-impedence cable, the accessory board may not be
able to obtain the sufficient power because the voltage decrease caused by impedence of the cable.
Please use external power supply when connecting the ATSS-16A accessory board to the analog E
series board through the option cable (PCB37PS-1.5P) which length is 1.5m.
Table2.1 indicated the recommend specification of an external power supply.
Please choose the external power supply that could offer the sufficient power.
In addition, if the power line include much noise, the accuracy may not match the product’s
specification.

Analog E Series’s Sampling Clock
When connecting the accessory board ATSS-16A to the analog E series, according to the features of
sample/hold amplifier, the setting of analog board’s sampling clock should meet the following
condition.
Sampling clock [μsec] Scan clock [μsec] x Number of Scan Channels + 2μsec
Example :
AD12-16U(PCI)EV’s scan clock is 1
μ
sec. When scanning from ch0 to ch7 (8 channel in all),
AD12-16U(PCI)EV’s sampling clock should set over 10 usec.
Sampling Clock[μsec] 1μsec x 8 + 2μsec = 10μsec
Please refer to analog E series’s manual and driver software help document, if need to know the
particular specification of analog E series board.
