Risk of electric shock!
A faulty electrical installation, excessive power supply
voltage, or incorrect use can result in electric shock.
The kettle should not be operated with an external timer or a
separate remote control system.
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than
the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit
in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit
fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit,
contact a qualified technician. Do not modify the plug in any
way.
Always take hold of the power cord by the plug and do not
pull on the cord itself.
Do not place any items of furniture or other heavy objects on
the power cord. Make sure that the cord is not bent,
especially in the area near the plug.
Ensure that the power cord does not come into contact with
hot or sharp areas or edges in order to avoid damage.
Ensure that the power cord does not come into contact with
any of the hot surfaces of the kettle. A damaged power cord
can cause fire or electric shock.
Only connect the kettle to a power socket that is always
easily accessible. Only operate the kettle with the voltage
specified on the rating plate, otherwise there is a risk of
electric shock!
Do not use an adapter plug or extension cable that does not
meet the relevant safety standards and do not perform any
procedures on the power cord yourself! If the power cord is
SilverCrest SWKH 1500 A1
US-EN - 7
damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, their
service department or by a similarly qualified person in order
to avoid hazards.
Never make a knot in the power cord and do not bundle it
with other cords. The power cord should be laid in such a
way that no one steps on it or is obstructed by it. There is a
risk of injury.
If you notice any smoke, unusual noises or smells, unplug the
kettle’s power cord from the power socket immediately. If this
happens, you must stop using the kettle until it has been
checked by a specialist.
Repairs are required if the kettle has been damaged, liquids
or objects have gotten inside the housing, the kettle has been
exposed to rain or moisture or if the kettle is not functioning
properly or has been dropped. All repairs should only be
carried out by qualified technicians.
Never open the housing of the base (7), as this does not
contain any parts to be maintained. If the housing is open,
there is a risk of electric shock.
The kettle must always be disconnected from the mains
network if left unattended and prior to cleaning.
Never immerse the base (7) or the pot (8) in water or any
other liquid. If liquid enters into the base (7), disconnect the
plug from the power socket immediately and contact the
service department.
Do not spill liquid onto the device plug connection.
Fill the pot (8) with water at least to the MIN mark. If you do
not pour in enough water, there is a risk of fire due to
overheating.

Risk of injury!
Improper handling of the kettle may cause injury to
the user.
A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce risks
resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a
longer cord.
Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords
are available and may be used if care is exercised in their
use.
SilverCrest SWKH 1500 A1
US-EN - 9
If a long detachable power-supply or extension cord is used:
1. The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-
supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great
as the electrical rating of the appliance.
2. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension
cord should be a grounding type 3-wire cord; and
3. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not
drape over the counter top or table top where it can be
pulled on by children or tripped over.
Never touch the housing of the pot (8) during and
immediately after operation. Only use the handle (3) to hold
or carry the pot (8).
Hot steam can escape when heating water. Make sure not to
burn yourself. Wear an oven glove, if necessary. Turn the pot
(8) so that the steam is directed away from you.
The surface of the heating element is still hot after use.
Only clean the pot (8) once it has cooled down completely.
At maximum, fill the pot (8) up to the MAX marking. If you
pour in too much water, it can boil over and cause burn

6. Before Initial Use
Remove the SWKH 1500 A1 kettle and all accessories from the packaging and check the
completeness of the delivery. Remove all protective film. Keep the packaging material away from
children and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner.
7. Initial Use
Before you prepare water for consumption for the first time, you must first clean the kettle (8) in
order to remove dust and any remnants of the packaging material. Do so by proceeding as follows:
1. Open the lid (1) by pressing the lid release button (2) and rinse the kettle (8) with clear water.
2. Fill the kettle (8) with drinking water up to the ‘1.7 l MAX’ mark.
3. Close the lid (1) by pressing it down until it snaps into place. Boil the water once (see ‘Boiling
the water’ section below) and pour it out.
Repeat steps 1–3. The kettle (8) is now clean and disinfected. You can now use the kettle (8).
7.1. Boiling the water
Keep the base (7) away from water. There is a risk of death by
electric shock.
Boil the water and pour it away twice before you use the kettle for the first time
(see the previous section on “Initial Use”).
Always use fresh drinking water. Do not drink water that has been in the pot (8)
for longer than an hour. Do not reheat water that has cooled down. Always
pour away old water. Otherwise germs may form.

US-EN - 13
Cable rewind
An integrated cable rewind is located on
the underside of the base (7). You can
adapt the length of the power cable (6) to
the conditions at the location in which you
are using the kettle.
You can minimize the length of the cord
when you are not using the kettle.
Unwind the power cable (6) on the underside of the base (7).
Place the base (7) on a flat, non-slip and dry surface. Make sure that the power cable (6)
passes through one of the openings on the underside of the base (7). This is to ensure that the
pot is positioned securely.
If the power cord (6) does not pass through one of the openings on the
underside of the base (7), the base (7) and pot (8) are not positioned securely.
The movement of the boiling water can make the kettle tip over and cause
serious damage to property and cause injuries!
Open the lid (1) by pressing the lid release button (2).
“Minimum filling” display
The minimum amount of water to add is
16.9 fl oz / 0.5 liters. This small amount
can not be displayed on the external
water level gauge (4).
For this reason, there is a special mark
inside the kettle (8) that precisely
displays the minimum filling amount
when you are filling in water. This mark
can be seen inside the pot (8) when the
lid (1) is open.
Fill the pot (8) with drinking water up to a minimum of the interior ‘0.5 l MIN’ mark and a
maximum of the ‘1.7 l MAX’ mark on the inside of the water level gauge (4) and shut the lid
(1).
You can freely rotate the kettle (8) by 360° around its vertical axis when you place it
on the base (7). The pot does not need to be locked into a particular position. This
way, you can turn the kettle (8) so that the water level gauge (4) is easy to see or to
direct the steam from the kettle (8) away from you.
SilverCrest SWKH 1500 A1
14 - US-EN
Connect the plug to a power socket that is always easily accessible.
Place the kettle (8) on the base (7) and press the ON/OFF switch (5) down in order to switch
on the kettle (8). The status display in the ON/OFF switch (5) lights up. The kettle (8) makes
noise during the heating process. This is not due to a malfunction.
DANGER of burn injuries
Turn the pot (8) so that the steam is directed away from you.
Otherwise you could burn yourself.
Only boil the water with the closed lid (1) on. Otherwise the pot (8)
can tip over and cause burn injuries and damage to property.
As soon as the water boils, the kettle (8) switches off. The ON/OFF switch (5) automatically
returns to the upper position and the status display in the ON/OFF switch (5) goes out.
Pull out the power cable (6) plug from the socket, remove the kettle (8) from the base (7) and
pour out the water.
DANGER of burn injuries
Never touch the housing of the pot (8) during and immediately after
operation. Only use the handle (3) to hold or carry the pot (8).
Hot steam is released when the water boils. Make sure not to burn
yourself. Wear an oven glove, if necessary. Turn the pot (8) so that
the steam is directed away from you.
Always make sure that the lid (1) is shut when pouring out the
water. Hot water could otherwise flow out of the opening at the top
used to fill the kettle.
8. Cleaning and Maintenance
Always remove the plug from the power socket before cleaning
commences. Otherwise, there is a risk of electric shock.
Do not pour or spray any liquids onto the base (7) or immerse it in
water or any other liquids. Otherwise, there is a risk of electric shock
and a fire hazard due to short circuits.
DANGER of burn injuries
Wait until the pot (8) has cooled down completely before cleaning it.
Otherwise you could burn yourself.
SilverCrest SWKH 1500 A1
US-EN - 15
Do not use any scratching or abrasive cleaning agents or abrasive objects (such
as a metal scourer) for cleaning purposes. Otherwise the pot (8) may be
damaged.
Rinse the inside of the kettle (8) with clear water.
Clean the outer surfaces of the kettle (8) or base (7) with a slightly damp cloth. Use some
washing up-liquid on the damp cloth for stubborn stains. Make sure to remove any detergent
residue from the kettle (8) and base (7) before using the kettle (8) again. Dry the kettle (8) and
base (7) thoroughly before the next use.
You can use a cleaning or bottle brush with a long handle to remove stubborn
stains from inside the kettle (8).
8.1. Descaling the kettle (8)
Limescale may build up in the kettle (8) over time. This can lead to loss of energy and shorten the
kettles’s (8) service life. You should therefore remove the limescale as soon as it becomes visible.
Use a descaling agent that is used for coffee machines and other household devices. Proceed
as described in the instructions for the descaling agent.
Rinse the kettle (8) with plenty of clear water several times after descaling it.
8.2. Cleaning the limescale filter (9)
A limescale filter (9) is installed in the kettle (8). You should clean the limescale filter from time to
time. Proceed as follows to clean the limescale filter (9):
Remove the cooled down kettle (8) from the base (7).
Open the lid (1) by pressing the lid release button (2).
Reach carefully into the kettle (8) with
your hand, grasp the upper end of the
limescale filter (9), and pull it up and
out of the holder. Please note that the
holder can not be removed.
Place the limescale filter (9) in a warm
descaling solution for household
appliances (such as for coffee
machines) for several hours and then
rinse it thoroughly with clear water.
Replace the limescale filter (9) by
sliding it from above into the side
guides of the holder.
Close the lid (1) by pressing it down until it snaps into place.
SilverCrest SWKH 1500 A1
16 - US-EN
8.3. Storing the device when not in use
If the kettle will not be used for a longer period of time, store it in a clean and dry place.
Let the kettle (8) cool down fully before you store it.
Wrap the power cord (6) around the cord rewind under the base (7) and store the kettle in a
safe, dust-free place.
