2.2 Intended use
The device PR 1626/60, ../61 is intended for the intrinsically safe separation of electrical
devices which are located in an area prone to explosions and electrical devices located in
a secure area.
Product operation, commissioning and maintenance must be performed by trained and
qualied personnel who are aware of and able to deal with the related hazards and take
suitable measures for self-protection.
The device reects the state of the art.
No warranty is given that the product is free of faults, especially not in conjunction with
third-party software and hardware components required for operation.
The manufacturer does not accept any liability for damage caused by third-party system
components or due to incorrect use of the product. The use of this product signies
recognition of the stipulations listed above.
2.3 Initial inspection
Check the contents of the consignment for completeness, see Chapter 4. Check the
contents visually to determine whether any damage has occurred during transport. If
there are grounds for rejection of the goods, a claim must be led with the carrier
immediately. The Minebea Intec sales or service organization must also be notied.
2.4 Before operational startup
NOTICE
Perform visual inspection.
Before operational startup as well as after storage or transport, inspect the device
visually for signs of mechanical damage.
Before operational startup, acceptance of the installation by an authorized expert is
compulsory.
Mounting, installation, and earthing
When installing and assembling the device, the information in the EU type examination
certicate and the respective national regulations for the installation of electrical systems
in potentially explosive atmospheres must always be observed (in Germany in accordance
with VDE 0165, for example).

3 Device Description
The device is used for intrinsically safe interface electrical equipment situated in a hazardous (Ex) area with
electrical equipment situated in a safe area.
The device is designed for weighing applications requiring intrinsically safe interfacing.
This is achieved by use of double provided current and voltage limiters in the supply
circuit and barriers in the measuring and sense circuits of the device.

* These signals may only be operated with a SELV power supply unit or an evaluation
unit with SELV supply.
The unit provides the intrinsically safe interfacing of:
-1 voltage output for the supply of e.g. load cells situated in a hazardous (Ex) area,
-1 measuring voltage input from the hazardous (Ex) area,
-1 sense voltage input from the hazardous (Ex) area.
This is achieved by use of double provided current and voltage limiters in the supply
circuit and barriers in the measuring and sense circuits of the device.
The device is available in 2 versions:
-PR 1626/60: UDC = 12 V (nominal)/80 mA
e.g. for the connection of 4 load cells of 650 , connected in parallel (162.5 )

-PR 1626/61: UDC = 7,5 V (nominal)/92 mA
e.g. for the connection of 8 load cells of 650 , connected in parallel (81.3 ) or for
the connection of 4 load cells of 350 , connected in parallel (87.5 ).
The housing of the PR 1626/60, ../61 contains provisions for wall or rail mounting
according to EN 60715.
It is supplied with UDC = 24 V.
Connections are to be made via terminal contacts up to 4 mm2.
The terminal must be connected to the potential equalization system, see
Chapter 5.2.1.
The ground connection is designed for lines of at least 4 mm2.
