START-UP PROCEDURE
GENERAL INSPECTION
1. Make sure following is in place before a Start Up:
• Pre-Start-Up Check List is completed – dehumidifier and premise are ready for a Start-Up
Design conditions (where and what is applicable) are met. Room and pool water temperatures are brought
to design conditions to establish appropriate load; starting up dehumidifier with significantly lower load most
often would not reveal dehumidifier true performance.
Following documents are available (familiarize yourself with following documents, including current Start-Up
Procedure, prior to Start-Up):
Start-Up Report form – shipped from factory with the dehumidifier.
Operation and Maintenance Manual and Touch Display Manual – shipped from factory with
the dehumidifier. Refer to these documents as needed for dehumidifier description, operation, operator
panel navigation etc.
Contact factory to obtain copies of above mentioned documents if needed.
Completed Start-Up Report must be submitted to manufacturer within terms set in Warranty
(see Operation and Maintenance Manual) – otherwise dehumidifier warranty is void!
Take pictures of dehumidifier installation, premise etc. and submit along with Start-Up Report.
Record ALL applicable data in Start-Up Report, note and correct/address all discrepancy prior to starting up the dehumidifier.
! WARNING
2. Perform Dehumidifier Inspection – verify/perform following (where applicable):
Dehumidifier is leveled and firmly affixed.
External systems/components properly connected/installed and tested prior to Start-Up:
Ductwork
Power
Communication lines (internet, BMS, ROP etc.)
Control wires to external components (outdoor condenser/dry cooler, external pumps, fans, dampers,
sensors etc) – verify wiring is per wiring diagram
Outdoor condenser/dry cooler – verify proper installation, piping, charge
! CAUTION
OAC line set MUST comply with length limits and pipe sizes shown on dehumidifier Main Label – verify/address if incorrect.
! WARNING
Any external piping connected to the dehumidifier (heating/cooling liquids, pool water, gas etc.) –
verify correct direction and sizing

Dehumidifiers with NO internally installed space heater (no space heating option included or space heater is installed
externally to the dehumidifier) would require Supply Air (SA) temperature sensor to be installed in the ductwork
downstream of space heater. SA sensor is pre-wired to the control board at the factory; sensor is provided with the
dehumidifier (close to Supply Air duct connection) in the bag with respective label.
NOTE
Some dehumidifier could be equipped with compressor isolating valves and
other manual valves that need to be open prior to dehumidifier start up!
Locate and tighten ALL hose clamps – on ALL pool water, glycol hose connections etc.
! CAUTION
! CAUTION
Drain – verify P-trap is installed correctly and primed
Other systems/devices
For dehumidifiers with water or glycol circuits (heat recovery, space heating, protocol glycol loop etc) –
verify that there is no air in the system (check automatic air vents, manual air bleeding valves etc).
Outdoor condenser/dry cooler is charged according to the dehumidifier label (refrigerant/glycol type
and amount, if applicable).
For dehumidifiers with external dry cooler: verify that static pressure at the compressor pump
is min 25-30 psi after dry cooler is charged (verify that air is bled out of the system – see above).
External pumps performance (pool water, heating/cooling water, GPM etc) is per spec.
Access to ALL dehumidifier components, doors, louvers, filter racks, access ports and covers is not restricted.
CAUTION ! Locate and tighten ALL electrical apparatuses’ wiring terminals:
Contactors and relays
Distribution blocks
Board and additional terminals
Fuses
Other wiring connections
Perform dehumidifier internal and external inspection for any shipping damages, loose articles, fasteners,
wires etc – tighten/address as needed.
3. Perform Premise and Mechanical Room Inspection - verify/perform following (where applicable):
! No chemicals stored in same mechanical room where dehumidifier is installed.
Having chemicals stored in same mechanical room will void warranty!
Floor drain is present in mechanical room
External disconnect for dehumidifier is easily accessible and clearly labeled; same is done for outdoor
condenser/dry cooler.

Before powering up a dehumidifier, verify proper voltage power supply is connected. Check at main disconnect.
Once powered up a dehumidifier, check for proper power supply (phasing, voltage etc) at main
distribution block and at transformers’ secondary lines (24 VAC for main control one, others, if any –
as per transformer label).
Check compressor(s) crankcase heater operation. Insure crankcase heater(s) powered.
Check Voltage Monitor status – address respectively, if any, alarms shown:
If Voltage monitor (VM) indicates phase reversal on three-phase power supply – power dehumidifier
down and reverse/switch any two power leads. All motors, compressors, pumps within the dehumidifier
are synchronized with Voltage Monitor – proper phasing to Voltage Monitor from main power will insure
proper rotation.
Check Operator Panels for response (both, local and remote, ROP, if applicable) – you should see home page
on the display (refer to Touch Display manual, if needed):
Verify that Comm status indicator (on the right side of touch display home page) is green (meaning that
communication between Touch Display and control board is OK); investigate otherwise.
! Important Notes!
Air balancing and fans speed adjustment.
As many other settings, Main Blower and Exhaust fans (if any) speed is set at the factory to certain, default
level. These settings normally have to be checked and adjusted (as needed – increased or reduced) during
Start Up and Air Balancing to ensure dehumidifier proper operation and correct airflow.
Above statement applies to majority of dehumidifiers - with very few exceptions, dehumidifiers are
equipped with fans with ability to modulate/adjust their speed – fan motor could be equipped with VFD
(variable frequency drive) or fan itself could be of EC type.
It is recommended to have Air Balancing completed prior to or, at least, at the beginning of a Start Up,
to ensure proper adjustments of refrigeration, space heating and other components (like TX valve etc) and
systems that are influenced by airflow.
Dehumidifier must be powered up at least 24 hours prior to a Start-Up for crankcase heaters to warm up compressor(s)!
Make sure it is safe to turn power on – exercise caution!
! WARNING
Ductwork is installed in such a manner that:
No short-cycling occurred (no closely located supply and return grills)
No stagnant air zones
Air is supplied onto outer windows, doors (to prevent sweating)

Before attempting to operate the dehumidifier, familiarize yourself with Touch Display Layout and Navigation.
Refer to Touch Display Manual and current document.
! WARNING
Intro
Touch Display operator panel could be used
as local or remote operator panel.
Touch Display provides standard operator
panel’s functions (viewing sensors readings,
adjusting settings or operating dehumidifier
etc.), as well as some additional ones, like
extended Help feature, Notes feature, data
logging etc.; menus and settings structure is
very similar to web monitoring online system.
Best way to get accustomed with Touch
Display is to practice – read current document
and surf Touch Display menus, use Help
feature etc.
For more, in depth details on Touch Display layout and features, refer to Touch Display Manual.
Dehumidifier Operational Modes
The dehumidifier could operate in two distinctive control modes:
• Normal Mode (standard automatic operational mode) – dehumidifier operation is automatic and fully
controlled by software algorithm, all safeties are enabled, no person supervision is required.
Service Mode – dehumidifier components could be engaged only manually (from Touch Display Operator
Panel), certain safeties, active during Normal Mode, are omitted during Service Mode.
By default, all dehumidifiers delivered from factory, are set to be in Service Mode (to avoid uncontrolled start of
any component without prior check or proper start-up by qualified person). Therefore, once powered, dehumidifier
should assume Service mode and Touch Display should show Service mode home page. It has distinctive
SERVICE MODE” note displayed – see below
Touch Display home page layout
When dehumidifier is powered up, restarted or rebooted, touch display would by default show home page. Home
page layout is shown on the pictures below (Normal Mode – top, Service Mode – bottom).

SERVICE MODE OPERATION
COMPRESSOR(S)
Before Running Compressor(s):
Read this entire section first before starting and running compressor(s)!
Ensure that present load is sufficient for dehumidifier operation – RH level is at least 45%, RA temperature
is at least 7F. Normally, running dehumidifier with load significantly lower would render Start-Up insufficient
(it would not reflect true dehumidifier operation)
Ensure that, at least, Main blower is running; if dehumidifier is equipped with min exhaust fan and/or
OA damper – engage them also to test compressor under conditions as close to actual as possible; make
respective note in Start-Up Report - what ventilation components are running/active during Compressor(s)
Start-Up operation. Refer if needed to Ventilation section.
Verify dehumidifier following compressor-related configurations:
Press Advanced (top menu), then press Compressor Options
Locate Compressor Design setting and verify it is set to Classic; adjust otherwise – select Compressor
Design and set respectively.
Locate OACC Type setting and verify it is set to 1 Stage (if dehumidifier OAC/fluid cooler fan is EC-type
– modulating control) or Low/High (if dehumidifier fluid cooler fan is two speed fan) – verify visually if
needed); adjust otherwise. Select OACC Type and set respectively.
Scroll through the compressor options by pressing “<” or “>” to locate setting as needed.
Verify evaporator coil by-pass damper operation:
Press Home (top menu) to access home page and Service (bottom) menu.
Press Compr1 (bottom/Service menu)
Press Bypass Open – verify damper proper operation (damper is opening).
Once damper opens approximately half-way, press Bypass Open again - verify that damper stops and
maintains its position. Press Bypass Open again to open damper fully.
Once damper fully opens, press Bypass Open again. Verify that damper stops and stays open.
Press Bypass Close – verify damper proper operation (damper is closing).
Once damper fully closes, press Bypass Close again. Verify damper stops and stays closed.
If load (return air temperature and RH) is rather low – leave damper in closed position for testing
purposes (to maximize airflow/load across the evaporator coil). If load is sufficient - set damper into
half-open position; refer to previous steps
Install pressure gauge set, appropriate for type of used refrigerant, and verify that gauge readings correspond
with operator panel readouts:
Observe High Pressure and Low Pressure readouts and compare to pressure gauge set readings.
Note that low pressure transducer’s pressure reading brackets are 0-200 psi – it will display 200 psi max,
even if actual pressure is higher.
While running compressor(s), monitor load (return air temperature and RH) and adjust dehumidifier operation to maintain load
close to design data, e.g. if running dehumidifier in full AC mode brings return air temperature too low, engage space heating
or switch to full Reheat/Partial mode to compensate. Make a note of it in Start-Up Report.

for second pool, if applicable)
Allow at least 3 - 5 min for stabilization and record respective data in Start-Up Report (refer to Heat page
for pool water temperatures, Compr1 page for compressor-related readouts and Vent page for air-related
readouts).
Ensure pool water temperature differential (Pool Water Out Minus Pool Water In) is satisfactory – aim for
5 - 15°F; adjust water flow if needed.
Press Heat (bottom menu) and dis-energize pool heating solenoid(s) by pressing Pool Heat (and, if
applicable - Pool 2 Heat) - check that there is no magnetic pull on the solenoid coil stem.
Observe/verify pool water temperatures are equalizing.
Make a judgement call on what mode (AC, Reheat etc.) to start with, based on outdoor and indoor conditions: e.g. if indoor
(RA) temperature is relatively high, you may want to start with full AC or Partial mode (and then do full Reheat) – with high
return air temperature, compressor(s) may not sustain their operation for long period of time in full Reheat mode.

3. Run Compressor in full AC Mode:
Verify outdoor condenser/fluid cooler operation (keep compressor running as it is while checking condenser/
cooler fan(s) operation):
Press Compr1 (bottom menu) and engage outdoor condenser/fluid cooler fans according to their type
– EC-type fans (modulating control) or two-speed type fans (refer to previously verified OACC Type
configuration setting):
For EC-type fans:
Press OACC – to issue start signal for condenser/cooler fans (as well as for fluid cooler pump, if
applicable – see below)
Press Head Press and adjust/set fan speed:
Press “+” to set fan speed to 100% (max) – verify fan engages and ramps up respectively; check
amp draw and make respective records in Start-Up Report.
Press “-” to set speed to 40-60% - verify fan slows down and run respectively.
For two-speed type fans:
Press OACC – verify fans engage in low speed; check fan rotation direction and amp draw;
Press OACC again (to dis-engage low speed), then press OACC2 - verify fan(s) switch from low to high
speed; check fan rotation and amp draw; make respective records in Start-Up Report
Press OACC2 again, then press OACC (to revert to low speed) verify respective operation.
For fluid coolers, equipped/packaged with (integral to fluid cooler) pump - pump should engage once
OACC (OACC or OACC2 – for two-speed fans arrangement) is pressed:
Verify pump engages; check rotation and amp draw. Make respective records (pump amp draw, static
and dynamic pressures) in Start-Up Report.
Engage compressor AC operation. While condenser/cooler fan(s) (and pump – if applicable) and compressor
are running:
Press A/C – verify button turns green and AC solenoid valve energizes (check magnetic pull on the solenoid
coil stem)
Press Reheat – verify button turns white and Reheat solenoid valve dis-energizes (check that there is no
magnetic pull on the solenoid coil stem)
Allow compressor to stabilize and run for 5 - 10 min.
Monitor compressor head pressure and adjust condenser/cooler fans speed as needed – aim at
350-480 psi. Note fans speed in Start-Up Report.
Check and note compressor amp draw, record it in Start-Up Report.
Verify that superheat is stable - record readings from touch display in Start-Up Report (refer to
Compr1 page for compressor-related readouts and Vent page for air-related readouts).
4. Run Pool Heating with AC – use sequence, described in step 2 (skip this step if not applicable).

5. Run Compressor in partial mode – Reheat and AC:
While condenser/cooler fan(s) (and pump – if applicable) and compressor are running:
Press Reheat – verify button turns green and Reheat solenoid valve energizes
(check magnetic pull on the solenoid coil stem)
Allow compressor to stabilize and run for 5 - 10 min.
Monitor compressor head pressure and adjust condenser/cooler fans speed as needed –
aim at 350-480 psi. Note fans speed in Start-Up Report.
Check and note compressor amp draw, record it in Start-Up Report
Verify that superheat is stable - record readings from touch display in Start-Up Report
(refer to Compr1 page for compressor-related readouts and Vent page for air-related readouts).
6. Stop Compressor(s) once compressor(s) operation is confirmed:
Stop compressor by pumping it down:
Press Pump Down - verify Pump Down solenoid valve dis-energizes;
Observe compressor pumping down and dis-engaging.
Monitor compressor suction pressure during pump down – stop compressor manually (by pressing
Contactor) if suction pressure drops below 20 psi and compressor has not stopped yet.
Dis-energize all compressor related components (solenoid valves, condenser/cooler fan(s)/pump etc. – refer to
previous/respective steps, if needed).
For two-compressor dehumidifiers:
Same procedures/steps, described above, are applicable to all compressors: if dehumidifier is equipped with
(and configured respectively!) two compressors, use respective Service (bottom) menu buttons – Compr1 for
first compressor and Compr2 for second one.
If permissible, run compressors separately and together (simultaneously).
While running compressors together, if needed to offset separate compressor mode effect on air temperature,
run compressors in opposite modes: e.g. run one compressor in full A/C while running second compressor in
full reheat (and vice versa). This will constitute “partial mode” for two-compressor dehumidifier.

COMMISSIONING AND
NORMAL MODE OPERATION
Finish Start-Up and Review Settings
Once dehumidifier operation in different modes is verified and respective data is recorded, stop the dehumidifier:
Stop/dis-energize main blower and any other, if any, ventilation or space heating components – refer to
respective sections as needed.
Review and set/correct Setpoints and Date & Time:
Press User (top menu), then press Setpoints – review and adjust, as needed, applicable set points values;
once done - press Back. Make respective records in Start-Up Report
It is recommended to maintain room air temperature higher than pool water temperature at least by
couple degrees, at worst – to keep them equal: having pool water temperature maintained higher than
room air temperature will cause excessive evaporating rate.
Press Date & Time – verify date and time are correct, adjust if needed; once done – press Back.
Press System Information and record respective (MAC address etc.) info in Start-Up Report
Commission the dehumidifier and Switch to Normal Mode operation.
Once dehumidifier is ready to run automatically (all systems/components operation is verified):

If not applicable or if compressor(s) to be left disabled – skip this step:
Press Advanced (top menu)
  Warning note may appear on the display – acknowledge/confirm if needed.
Press Compressors, then press Compressor Options, select Compressors Enabled, set it to Yes and then press
Enter to enable change.
Note, that this would enable all compressors; if, in two-compressor dehumidifier, one of the compressors should stay
disabled, it should be done via Compressor Configuration menu:
Press Back, then press Compressor Configuration;
Select, respectively, Compressor1 or Compressor2, set it to No and then press Enter to enable change.
