INSTRUCTION MANUAL takeMS mem.line 8,9 cm

- In order to operate the hard disk the power supply unit which is included in the delivery is

required. Please only use this power supply unit to operate the mem.line.

- It is possible to operate the mem.line either the USB-Port or via the eSATA connection of

your PC.

- The takeMS mem.line will be recognized as an additional drive in “My Computer” of your PC. It

possibly occurs that the drive letter of the hard disk is already used on your PC. If this is the case,

please assign another drive letter for the new data storage device using the disk management

(administrative rights are required to do so).

-When using an e-SATA connection it may happen that your PC will not recognize the mem.line.

In this case, keep the mem.line connected and restart your PC. Now the mem.line should be

recognized. In order to be able to use the Hot-Plug function (Plug in and remove during operation)

of e-SATA it is necessary that your e-SATA connection is AHCI* compliant. AHCI* requires a

corresponding driver which generally is provided by your PC- or mainboard manufacturer.

-If your PC or mainboard does not support AHCI* you need to switch off your PC before

connecting and removing the mem.line if you use the e-SATA connection. An interruption of the

e-SATA connection without AHCI support may lead to data losses and might damage the mem.

line as well as other hard disks in your PC.

* AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) is an interface standard for Serial-ATA-Controllers. It

allows communicating with these controllers via the software.

In order to learn if your PC supports “AHCI“ click on Start -> Run or press the windows key and R

simultaneously. Then enter devmgmt.msc and press the ENTER key. If you click on the character

+ in front of “THE ATA/ATAPI Controllers” you should nd an entry which includes AHCI, e.g.

Intel(R) ICH9-SATA AHCI controller.

If any damages are occurring since you do not consider the above mentioned hints, the guarantee

for your takeMS b. line will be null and void.

DISPOSAL OF THE DEVICE.

Do not dispose of the device with the household waste. Request the corresponding municipal

organizations about the possibilities for the disposal of electronic devices.

GEBRAUCHSANWEISUNG takeMS mem.line 8,9 cm

- Die Festplatte benötigt zum Betrieb das mitgelieferte Netzteil, bitte benutzen Sie ausschließlich

dieses um die mem.line zu betreiben.

- Sie können die mem.line entweder über den USB-Port oder den eSATA Anschluss Ihres

Computers betreiben.

- Die takeMS mem.line wird an Ihrem Computer als zusätzliches Laufwerk im Arbeitsplatz

erkannt. Unter Umständen, kann es vorkommen, dass der Lauf-werksbuchstabe der Festplatte

schon von Ihrem Computer benutzt wird. Sollte dies der Fall sein, weisen Sie dem neuen

Datenträger über die Datenträgerverwaltung einen anderen Laufwerksbuchstaben zu (hierzu

benötigen Sie administrative Rechte).

- Bei Verwendung einer e-SATA Verbindung kann es vorkommen dass ihr PC die mem.line

nicht erkennt. In diesem Fall lassen Sie die mem.line angeschlossen und starten den PC neu.

Die mem.line sollte nun erkannt werden. Um die Hot-Plug (An- und Abstecken im laufenden

Betrieb) Funktion von e-SATA nutzen zu können muss ihr e-SATA Anschluss AHCI* kompatibel

sein. AHCI* erfordert einen entsprechenden Treiber, der Ihnen in der Regel von Ihrem PC- oder

Mainboardhersteller zur Verfügung gestellt wird.

- Sollte ihr PC bzw. Ihr Mainboard AHCI* nicht unterstützen müssen Sie, bei Verwendung einer

e-SATA Verbindung, Ihren PC vor dem Anschliessen und Abziehen der mem.line ausschalten.

Eine Unterbrechung der e-SATA Verbindung ohne AHCI Unterstützung kann zu Datenverlust

führen und die mem.line sowie alle anderen Festplatten in ihrem PC beschädigen.

*AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) ist ein Schnittstellen-Standard für Serial-ATA-

Controller. Er ermöglicht es, mit diesen Controllern per Software zu kommunizieren.

Um zu erfahren ob Ihr PC „AHCI“ unterstützt klicken Sie auf Start -> Ausführen, oder drücken

Sie die Windowstaste und R gleichzeitig. Geben sie nun devmgmt.msc ein und drücken ENTER.

Wenn Sie nun auf das + Zeichen vor “DIE ATA/ATAPI Contoller” klicken sollten Sie hier einen

Eintrag vornden der AHCI enthält, z.B. Intel(R) ICH9-SATA AHCI-Controller.

Sollte eine Beschädigung aufgrund von Nichtbeachtung der vor-

hergehenden Hinweise eintreten, erlischt die Garantie auf Ihre takeMS mem.line.

ENTSORGUNG DES GERÄTS

Das Gerät darf nicht mit dem Hausmüll entsorgt werden. Erkundigen Sie sich bei den zuständigen

kommunalen Einrichtungen, welche Entsorgungsmöglichkeiten es für elektronische Geräte gibt.
