INSTALMTION CONSIDERATIONS
f40TP Always pr~test the detectors Iocafion using the ASC-GBS Glass
Break Tester.
. Do “et...
Mount the detector with obstmctions between the glass being protected and !he
detector.
For maximum false alarm immunity, do not mount the delector closer than
5 ft. (1.5 m) hom the glass when mounting on the same sudace as the glass.
Mount closer than 2 ft. (0.6 m) to heating or coohng outlets; mount as far
away as possible. [f draffs from these outlets blow on the detector, select a
different location for the detector. Use the environmental test procedure to
verify gmd installation locations.
Install on 24-hour protection circuits.
. Hemember...
The best mounting location is within 25 ft. (7.6m) from the glass, in- line with
the center of the glass, and on the ceiling or opposite wall of the glass being
protected. Do no! exceed maximum ra”9e,
Range will be reduced i“ areas that a,e acoustically SOH.This may be due to
carpeting, drapes, plants, or other sound absoting materials. The ASC.GBS
Tester should be used to veri~ range in all Installations.
Glass Break detectors are intended only as perimster protection devices
They should always be backed “p with motion sensors.
Glass Break detectors are designed to detect the breakage of framsd glass
and may not detect such things as bullet holes, spontaneous breakage 0
glass (with “o imPa.t), and removal of glass.
. Maximum Range:
The maximum detection range is 25 H. (7.6 m) from the faflhe$t corner, {o
glass sizes 12 by 1Y (0.3m by 0.3m) and larger.
rESTING
resting the Location:
Temporarily ~,lacethe detetior flea< the
desired mounting location using Z-sided
tape.
Power the detector using a 9V ba[te~.
The detectors LED should remain off.
Activate the deteoors test mode by

tion.
Remember: If the detector happens to 81arm during this test, the alarm
relay will activate as we!l.
Test #2: Response Test:
lhis lest Shot,ld be preformed using ths ASC-GBS Glass 6reak Tester. The
ASC.G8S produces a tigh-frequency !one designed to alarm the unit to fuflher
verifyproper Iocatlon.
Remember: l-he detector must be i“ the test mode to petiorr. this response
test.
CAUTION: D<Inot point the tester at your ear (or anyone el:se,s). Doing so
could damage hearing.
. Hold the ASC-GBS Tester againstthe window being tested and poin! it directly at
the detector.
. If window treatments are installed (cunaios or blinds), operate the Tester
betind them.

ends. This will allow you to better obsewe the detectors LEO.
For large windows, peti”rm ttis test at different placements along the win-
dow.
. The alarm/test LEO and the alarm relay will activate for three seconds
if this is an acceptable detector placement.
Note The low frequency response of the de!eclor can be tested (wtile still in the
test mode) by opening a door about 1 inch and slzmming ii shut, The detectof

After “erifying an acceptable location, permanently mount the detector.
The ASC25 detector requires 2 mounting screws. Spacing for mounting holes (3,2&
center to center) matches those 01a sing!e-gang outlet box (not s“ppbed),.
The ASC25R detector an be mounted using the one center screw hole.
Remo”al of the circuit board is not required for mounting of either the ASC25 or
/
ASC25R detector.
