2. Safety
2.1 Safe use of the appliance
Because the appliance has hot surfaces during normal use, the following warnings and in-
structions should be observed:
During long-time operation even the frame of the appliance gets hot.
The capability of the appliance to store and even out heat also keeps it hot for a
long time after switching it off.
Depending on temperature setting, the surface of the plate can be burning hot. For
safe handling of dishes it is recommended to use heat protective gloves.
Do not leave the appliance on for long periods totally without supervision.
2.2 Safety instructions in case of malfunction
In the event of fault or malfunction, switch the appliance off by unplugging the connection
cable from the socket. Contact an agent authorised by the manufacturer and use original
spare parts.
2.3 How to dispose of the appliance
Once the appliance has reached the end of its useful life, it must be disposed of in com-
pliance with local rules and regulations.

3.3 Operating principle
The heat surface of the hot plate is heated by heating elements located under the surface.
Heat is distributed evenly on the heat surface by means of a heat transfer plate. The tem-
perature of the plate is steplessly controlled by a power regulator. The intervals of the
heating cycles (heating elements on) depend on how far clockwise the power regulator has
been turned. Full power is achieved by turning the power regulator to position 1. The heat-
ing elements are then continuously on (100 % power).
The yellow pilot light indicates that the plate has been switched on. The pilot light goes
out when you switch off the plate by turning the power regulator to position 0.
Since the power regulator is not thermostatically controlled, the surface temperature of the
hot plate seeks, depending on the set value, a so called equilibrium, which means that
thermal power received by the environment and products and thermal power released by
the appliance are the same. For this reason, the temperature of the hot plate may somewhat
vary depending on the load although the set values remain unchanged.
The LLM-800 model is equipped with a sneeze guard and two heating lamps. The heating
lamps have a separate ON/OFF switch on the front panel, fitted with a yellow pilot light.

4. Operation instructions
4.1 Operation procedures
4.1.1 General
There is a slight smell of metal and thermal insulation when the plate is heated for the first
time. This is completely normal and disappears by heating.
4.1.2 How to use the hot plate
The power regulator functions both as a current switch and a temperature regulator. When
you turn the power regulator, the plate goes on and the yellow lamp lights up. The pilot
lamp is continuously on as long as the plate is switched on. The temperature will stepless-
ly increase while turning the power regulator clockwise. Full power is obtained by turning
the regulator on continuous duty (100 %) to position 1. The heating elements are then con-
tinuously on, so the surface temperature of the plate without load may rise even up to 160-
170°C. When you do not need the hot plate, switch it off by turning the power regulator
to position 0 (pilot lamp goes out).
The LLM-800 model has an ON/OFF switch for heating lamps on the front panel. When
not needed, the heating lamps should be turned off.
When empty, the surface plate is partly separate from the heat transfer plate, which means
that the surface temperature of the hot plate is lower than the set value. The weight of a
dish, however, causes the surface to press against the heat transfer plate, so the following
settings can be regarded as guiding temperatures:
1/4 turn: approx. 35°C
1/2 turn: approx. 75°C
3/4 turn: approx. 125°C
Depending on the temperature setting, the surface of the hot plate as well as the heating
lamps of the LLM-800 model can be extremely hot.

4.2 After use
4.2.1 Cleaning
Use of a hose or pressure washer for cleaning the hot plate is forbidden.
When cleaning the hot plate, observe that the surface is hot quite a long time after use.
Hot plates are electrical appliances, which means that there are restrictions regarding
cleaning them with water. Cleaning is permitted only with a damp cloth to avoid water
getting into the air inlets. Depending on how dirty the hot plate is, use an alkaline sub-
stance which can be diluted in a spray bottle to loosen grease.
Do not use steel wool or abrasive pads in cleaning. Once a surface is scratched, dirt sticks
to it much more easily.
4.2.2 Service
This appliance does not contain parts which can be serviced by the user. Maintenance
must be carried out by an authorised agent.
In the event of fault or malfunction, switch the appliance off at the mains. Contact an agent
authorised by the manufacturer and use original spare parts.

Installation

5. Installation
5.1 Packing
The LL-600 and LL-800 models are delivered in cardboard boxes. The adjustment pads
and fixing screws come in a plastic bag.
The LLM-800 model, assembled in the factory, is packed in a wooden box. The heating
lamps are delivered with the appliance, in packages.
5.2 Siting the hot plate
Adjust the legs so that the hot plate stands steadily on the worktop. The legs can be slightly
adjusted by turning the screws on the legs, either clockwise or anticlockwise. When fixing
the legs, be careful that the connection cable does not get jammed under the plate.
To prevent damage, the top of the hot plate must not be used as a worktop on a construc-
tion site or during installation.
5.3 Electricity connection
Before connecting the appliance to the mains, make sure that the connection cable is not
damaged. Connect the plug to an earthed 230V socket.
All information needed to connect the hot plate is to be found on the name plate, the con-
nection diagram and the installation drawings.
5.4 Test-run
Please read the operation instructions before using the appliance.
Test the appliance once it has been connected to the mains electricity.
Check that
the yellow pilot lamp lights up when the hot plate is switched on by turning the
power regulator
the plate warms up. When empty, the surface plate is partly separate from the heat
transfer plate, so temperature differences may be felt when touching the surface by
hand
the heating lamps and the yellow pilot light for the ON/OFF switch turn on when
the lamps are switched on.

6. Troubleshooting
If the appliance fails to work, check to ensure
that it has been used according to the instructions
that the electric plug has been connected
that the circuits breakers (fuses) on the distribution board are in working order.
Ask a qualified person to check overload protection.
Should the hot plate still not work, contact an authorised agent. Before phoning, make
sure you have at hand the appliance type and serial number to be found on the name plate
on the bottom of the appliance.
