In-Sight Strobe Light Adapter Installation & Reference

STEP 2 – Adjust the Light Pulse Width
The light pulse width is the duration of time the LEDs will be on during each image
acquisition. The Strobe Light Adapter has two controls for adjusting the light pulse
width (Figure 2-5). The first control is a three-position slider switch labeled X10 that
selects a 0 (0), 100 microsecond (1), or 200-microsecond (2) pulse width. The second
control is a rotary switch labeled X100, featuring positions 0 through 9, which
correspond to pulse widths 0 through 90 microseconds.
Figure 2-5: Light Pulse Width Controls
The light pulse width is set by adjusting both controls until a suitable light intensity level
can be achieved within the In-Sight camera’s exposure time. The effect of the switches
is additive, so any light pulse width between 10 microseconds and 290 microseconds
can be set. For example, if the three-position slider switch is set to 100, and the rotary
switch is dialed to 5, then the light pulse width would be 150 microseconds.
NOTE With both the slider and rotary switch set to 0, the light pulse width is nominally 5 microseconds.
Follow these steps to display the light pulse width while adjusting its duration.
8. Open the System menu. Select Live to enter Live mode.
9. Adjust the X10 and X100 controls on the Strobe Light Adapter to increase the light
pulse width until the strobing operation of the light is visible.
