insert your SIM card

Your Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card stores your

phone number and other information. Turn off your

device and remove your battery before you install

or remove a SIM card.

Hold your device with both hands and use your

thumbs to push battery cover.

Note: Before using your device for the

first time, be sure to review the important

safety information in the reference guide.

Periodically review this information so you

remember how to safely use your device.

insert a memory card

Memory cards are optional. You can use a removable

microSD memory card with your device to store and

retrieve multimedia content (such as photos and

sounds).

If necessary, remove the

back cover and battery.

Slide the memory card into

the card slot as shown.

charge your battery

New batteries are not

fully charged. Plug the

travel charger into the

mini-USB port on your

device as shown.

Plug the other end into

an electrical outlet.

Your device might take

several seconds to start charging the battery. Your

device’s red charge indicator comes on and a lightning

bolt appears over the battery charging icon, in the title

bar. The internal battery bars move while the battery

is charging, and stop when the battery is fully charged.

B efore you can start using your device, you must

complete the registration steps. You’ll know your device

has been activated when the Welcome screen appears.

Just follow the prompts until you see the

Congratulations screen.

your device securely with

both hands, then push up on

the display with your thumbs.

The display springs smoothly

into the open position.

The normal operating position of the device

is horizontal, with the trackball on the right.

Bluetooth™ wireless

use a headset or handsfree

car kit

Your device can make handsfree calls using an optional

Bluetooth headset or car kit.

Note: The use of wireless devices while driving

may cause distraction. Discontinue a call if you can’t

concentrate on driving. Additionally, the use of wireless

devices and their accessories may be prohibited or

restricted in certain areas. Always obey the laws and

regulations on the use of these products.

Before you try to connect your device with a

handsfree device, make sure the device is on and

ready in pairing or bonding mode (see the user’s guide

for the device). You can connect your device with only

one device at a time.

Your device lists the devices it ﬁ nds within range.

When using a Motorola Bluetooth headset use the send/

end key on the headset to make and answer calls. The
