AquaPRO 160711 is ideal for shallow water tables (25’ or less) and can be used in any soil type. With the capacity to be driven up to 50’ deep, it is compatible with both jet and pitcher pumps. The 1-1/4" or 2" pipe requirement and airtight joint necessity ensure efficient water lifting.

Shallow Well Drive Point
This shallow well drive point:
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Is for water tables of 25' or less.
Can be used in any soil.
Requires 1-1/4" or 2" pipe.
Can be used with a jet or pitcher pump.
NOTE: Make sure that you know how far it is to the water.table
before you begin this installation. The depth limit for.driving this point
is 50'. Shallow well jet pumps and pitcher.pumps will not lift water
more than about 25'.
All pipe joints between the well point and the pump must be airtight or
the pump will not lift water.
1.With a post hole digger or an auger, dig a hole where you want the
well. Make it 3" to 6" in diameter and 2 to 3' deep.
2.Thread a drive coupling onto the drive point and thread a piece of
pipe of a convenient length into the drive coupling.
NOTE: You must use drive couplings because the threads in them are
cut to allow the ends of the pipe to meet, transmitting the force of the
hammer blows from pipe to pipe rather than from pipe to the coupling
threads. An ordinary coupling from the hardware store will hold the pipe
ends apart, forcing the coupling threads to transmit the driving force.
This will destroy the couplings as the threads are not strong enough to
do this.
NOTE: Before installing the drive point, remove the plastic protective
wrapping around the screen.
3.Set up the drive point and pipe assembly in the hole you have dug.
NOTE: Make sure that the assembly is perfectly square in the hole.
4.Drive the point into the ground, using either a sledge hammer or a
“steel post driver” (a weighted piece of 2 or 3" pipe) against the drive
cap.
5.When the point is far enough down into the ground, remove the drive
cap, add another piece of pipe, and replace the drive cap on top of the
new piece of pipe.
NOTE: Drive only on the drive cap! Trying to drive on the open pipe
end or the coupling will destroy the pipe or the coupling.
6.Rotate the whole assembly clockwise at intervals to keep the
threaded joints tight.
7.Continue driving the point in until you have gone 5 to 10 feet below
the water table.
8.Clean the well. This can be done by “surging” (pushing a long pole
down the pipe and working it up and down to make the water “surge”
through the perforations in the drive point) or by putting a garden hose
down the pipe and flushing out the well.
9.Install the pump (shallow well jet or pitcher pump) at ground level.
Operate the pump to finish cleaning the well. (See Figure 1 for a
diagram of the completed installation.)
