2. Functionings & principles
A low-pressure liquid refrigerant is vaporized in the heat pump's evaporator and passed into the
compressor. As the pressure of the refrigerant increases, so does its temperature. The heated
refrigerant runs through a condenser coil within the storage tank, transferring heat to the water
stored there. As the refrigerant delivers its heat to the water, it cools and condenses, and then
passes through an expansion valve where the pressure is reduced and the cycle starts over.

Installation precautions:
1. Water heaters shall be equipped with a dedicated power line and residual current circuit
breakers. The action current shall not exceed 30 mA;
2. The ground line and the zero line of the power supply shall be separated entirely.
3. Connecting the zero line to the ground line is not allowed.
4. Parameter of the power line: 3 1.5mm² or more.
5. If a power cable is damaged, it shall be replaced by qualified professionals to avoid risks.
6. In the case of places and walls where water may be splashed to, installation height of a power
socket shall not be less than 1.8 m, and it shall be ensured that water would not be splashed on
these places. The socket shall be installed out of children’s reach.
7. The phase line, zero line and ground line inside a power socket used in your home shall be
wired correctly without any wrong positioning or false connection, and internal short circuit shall
be avoided. Wrong wiring may cause fire accidents.

E.
Quick heating function key: press this key and BOOST icon lights up and the quick heating mode
is activated. Heat-pump and electric heating are activated at the same time.
2. Indication
A. COMF comfort mode : starts the heat-pump to make temperature of the water tank reach the set
level, and performs heat preservation after heating. Heat-pump start is at a priority level.
1) The default temperature for the first start is set at 55 C, which may be adjusted via +
and - . The temperature can be adjusted between 35-75 ; the heat-pump can be heated up to
65 , beyond which the electric heater will be activated.
2) Within an ambient temperature range of 7-35 C, the heat-pump is the first to be started by the
system for heating. The heat-pump will not start if the temperature is out of this range, but the
electric heating will be activated.
B. ECO economy electricity consumption mode : during the economy electricity consumption
period, the heat-pump is activated for hot water supply.
1) Introduction to economy function:
Heating is started in the economy period, and heat preservation, which will not be continued if it is
not in the economy period, is carried out after heating. If heating is not completed within the
economy period, it will be kept on until the set temperature is reached.
2) Economy time setting
After entering this mode, press SET key to set the economy time, and the 2-digit temperature
shows LP. ON lights up, hour flashes; press + and - to set the hour right now.
15
Then press SET again, "minute will flash; press + and - to adjust the minute setting.
Press SET key again, ON stops lighting, OFF lights up. If no key action occurs after

functions stop functioning temporarily, can also be pressed for confirmation while flashing). The
default economy time period is 00:00 07:00.
C. VAC vacation mode icon : hot water is provided in advance in accordance with the return date
input by users.
1) Vacation day setting
Enter into VAC mode. The 2-digit temperature flashes and shows OO , press + and - right
now to set vacation days (the range is between 1 and 99 days); press SET key for confirmation.
No heating is carried out if OO is indicated.
2) VAC mode introduction
According to user-defined number of vacation days, finished 0:00 on vacation begin heating to 65
degrees, this temperature is not adjustable.
(1) The program starts from the confirmation of the setting. The VAC mode can not be scheduled
in advance
(2) After completion of the vacation mode, ECO mode will be activated automatically;
3) Example of vacation setting
For example, you set vacation days on January 1st and return home from vacation on January 5th.
The date shall be set as (5-1) =4 days, and corresponding temperature shall also be set. The
heat-pump will start heating on 00:00 o clock of January 5
th
automatically.
D.Quick heating mode icon “BOOST”: this icon will light up if quick heating function is
activated.Heat-pump and electric auxiliary unit are activated at the same time for heating.
Temperature icon “HW Left” : indicates set temperature and current temperature. Residual hot
water quantity icon : indicates the residual hot water quantity in the water tank.
Timer and preset state icon : indicates current time or preset time slot.
3. Control functions
A. Electrical leakage protection
The control system of this machine features an electricity leakage protection function.
B. 10-minutes protection
When starting the machine immediately after electricity input, the fan and the compressor will
start at the same time. When starting the machine immediately after shutdown, the machine unit
goes into the protection mode and starts after 10 minutes, which is considered to be normal.
C. Automatic defrosting function
The defrosting mode is automatically activated if the ambient temperature is too low and after the
compressor already runs continuously for a certain period.
D. Protection for nonconformist operation
16
The permissible ambient temperature for the heat-pump mode is between 7 C~35 C.
E. Overload protection function for water heaters
The working load of the compressor will be heavy if temperature is high in summer. In order to
meet hot water requirements of users and to lengthen service life of the compressor, this product
automatically adjusts the fan speed to ensure reliable operation of the compressor.
F. Anti-freezing function
The heat-pump starts heating to avoid freezing of the water tank if the temperature in the water
tank is too low.
G.The default temperature of this water heater is 55 C.
Function of the number of occupants, the temperature should be set as below; please raise the set
temperature if a more comfort is required.
H. Anti-legionella function:
This machine is equipped with a sterilization function, which is activated every 14 days to heat the
water tank to 65 C automatically to realize sterilization.
7. Checking and maintenance
Cleaning and maintenance of the water tank
Shut down the machine and cut off the power supply
Do not touch with wet hands
Do not clean with hot water or solvent
1. Safety valve maintenance
Rotate the safety valve handle once a month. The valve works well if there is water flowing out,
otherwise check for blocking and replace the safety valve if necessary.
2. Drain the water tank to empty
Cut off power supply and shut down water inlet valve, then drain the water tank to empty via the
sewage outlet. Please stay away from the sewage outlet if there is hot water inside the water tank
to avoid injury.
3. Replacement of the anode bar
The protective anode equipped for Haier heat-pump water heaters can prolong service life of its
products effectively. The magnesium anode, which shall be replaced in time, shall be checked
typically once every 2 years according to different water qualities.
17
4. Cleaning of the air filter:
The filter may be dedusted and cleaned every 3-6 months according to service conditions and dirt
accumulation. It is located at the top of the water heater and can be pulled out by holding the filter
handle upwards.
