1. Introduction
TheiKANseriesisafamilyofindustrialModbusLEDdisplaydevicesthatdeliverindustrialgrade
antinoisecapabilitiesaswellasreliabilityandstability.Theseriesdisplaydeviceishighlysuitable
forpresentingformattedmessagesinindoorareasusingeitherUnicodecharacters,whichcanbe
usedtodisplaymultiplelanguages,orASCIIcharacters.SupportforthepopularModbus
industrialprotocolisprovidedmeaningthatiKANdisplaydevicescanbeeasilyintegratedinto
existingPLCandSCADAenvironments.
168variablesareprovidedtoallowdatawrittenfromaPCoraPLCtobedisplayedinaformatted
messageinrealtime.Sevencolorsareavailableforthetext,whichcanbeusedtoindicate
differentdegreesofimportanceofthemessage,aswellassignificantlyincreasethereadabilityof
themessageinanindustrialarena.
Messagescanbeeditedusingastandardwebbrowser,suchasGoogleChrome,Firefox,orIE,etc.,
onaPC,mobile device,orsmartphonewithoutanylimitationsrelatedtospecificcontroltoolsor
programs.Thedisplayofindividualmessagescanalsoberemotelyenabledordisabledas
necessaryusingthesamestandardwebbrowser.Eachmodelinthe iKANseriesprovidesstor age
spaceforupto64commonmessagesand10instantmessages,eachcontainingamaximumof40
Unicodecharactersor100ASCIIcharacters.Withanopenuserinterfaceandtheabilitytodisplay
realtimedata,theiKANseriesLEDdisplaycanbeinstalledinavarietyofindoorspaces,including
shoppingmalls,railwaystations,andindustrialareas.

TheiKANseriescanbeemployedasalargeHMIwithamemorystorageofupto64common
messagesand10instantmessages,eachofwhichcanbeusedtodisplayinformation
generatedbyaPLC.Messagetextcanbedisplayedinarangeofsevencolors,includingred,
blue,yellow,green,lightblue,purple,andwhite,whichcanbeusedtoindicatewarningsor
alarms,aswellasincreasingthereadabilityofamessage.

SupportsMultipleLanguages
TheiKANseriesofdisplaydevicesupportsUnicodeinput,meaningthatmessagescanbe
configuredtobedisplayedinmultiplelanguages.

Amaximumof64commonmessagesand10instantmessagescanbepreconfiguredfrom
thefirstmomentthattheiKANseriesdisplayisswitchedon.Whenthedisplayisin
operation,thefocusneedsonlybeonmessagemanagementratherthantheneedto
frequentlyupdatethemessages.

Instantmessageshaveahigherprioritythancommonme ssages.Onceaninstantmessageis
enabled,thecommonmessagecurrentlybeingdisplayedwillbesuspendeduntil theinstant
messageisdisabled.Thisfeatureallowsthemostimportantinformationtobedisplayedin
anemergencysituation.
Integertypevariablesenabledatamapping
TheiKANseriesofdisplaydevicesprovidetheabilitytoperformdatamappingtotranslatea
computerintegervaluetoareadablephysicalvalue,suchasthevoltage,temperature,or
relativehumidity,etc.Intheindustrialfield,thisisacommonlyperformedtaskbetweenthe
hostcomputerandthedataacquisitiondevicesviatheModbusprotocol,enablinga
reductionintheresourcesandprogrammingrequiredforthehostcomputer

TheiKANseriesallowsamessageandtheparametersofthevariablestobesavedasa

3. Configuration
3.1. Ethernet configuration
ThefactorydefaultIPaddressforeachiKANdeviceis192.168.255.1.BeforeintegratinganiKAN
seriesdisplayintoyournetwork,youshouldconfiguretheIP,Mask,andGatewayaddressesfor
thedevicebysettingthevaluesthatarevalidforyournetworksystem.To dothis,followthe
instructionsgivenbelow.
NOTE:
z OneiKANdeviceuses2adjacentIPaddresses.OnceanIPaddressissetforaniKANdevice,
thenextIPaddresswillbeautomaticallysetforthecontrollerintheiKANdisplay.Ifthe
nextIPaddressisalreadyusedforanyotherdevice,youwillfailtocommunicatewiththe
iKANdisplay.
z DetailsonhowtochangetheIPaddressonyourcomputerdependuponthetype
architectureandoperatingsystemyouareusing.UsetheHelpandSupportfunctionality
onyourcomputerandsearchfor"IPAddressing".

3. EntertheIPaddressoftheiKANdisplayintheaddressbarofabrowser,suchasGoogle
Chrome,Firefox,orIE,etc.,andthenpressEnter.ThewebconfigurationpagefortheiKAN
devicewillthenbedisplayed.

NotethattheiKANdevicewillbe automaticallyresetonceyouclicktheUpdate
Settingsbutton.
RestoretheIPaddressoftheHostPCtothepreviousvalue.
Repeatstep3above,butenterthenewIPaddressoftheiKANdevice,andthen
pressEntertodisplaythewebuserinterfacethatallowsmessagestobe
preconfigured.

3.2. Connecting to a remote DL-302 device
TheiKANseriesdevicescanbeusedtodisplaydatasuchasthetemperature,humidityandCO2
valuessourcedfromaspecificremoteDL302devicethatisconnectedtothesamenetworkas
theiKANdevice.OncetheIPaddressfortheDL302devicehasbeenconfigured,thedata
recordedbytheDL302canbeautomaticallyobtained.TospecifytheIPaddressoftherequired
DL302device,followtheinstructionsgivenbelow.
ClicktheSystemtabatthetopofthepage.
ClicktheETHERNEToptionfromthemenuonthelefthandsideofthepage.
EntertheIPaddressforthedesiredDL302.

3.3. Importing/Exporting pre-configurated messages
IfyoursystemcontainsmorethanoneiKANseriesdevice,itcouldtakealotoftimetoconfigure
eachoneindividually.Tosimplifythisprocess,theImport/Exportfunctionthatisfoundonthe
webconfigurationpagecanbeusedtopreconfigurethe contentsofamessageorvariableon
theiKANseriesdevicebefor eusingModbusTCP /RTUcommandstomanagethemessagepool,
therebyreducingtheneedtorepeattheconfigurationtasksmultipletimes.
OnceamessagehasbeenconfiguredfortheiKANdevice,usetheExportfunctiontosavethe
contentsasaCSVfileontheHostPC.ThismeansthatadditionaliKANseriesdisplaydevicescan
beeasilyconfiguredbyimportingthecsvfiletothatdevice.

Click the IMPORT/EXPORT option from the menu on the lefthand side of
thepage.
ClicktheSavebuttontosavethecurrentconfigurationasaCSVfile.
Aconfirmationdialogwillbedisplayed,clicktheOKbuttontosavethefile.
ClicktheExportbuttontosavetheconfigurationfiletotheHostPC.
The exported will be saved to the download folder location where your
browsersavesdownloadedfiles. 

oneinterfacecanbeusedatthesametime.TransmissiondataformatisN81,E81orO81
selectableontheiKANdevice.
