Before Using the Product
About the Board
This product is an accessory board for electrically isolating external signals input to A/D converter
interface boards.
Features
Isolated Amplifier Function is installed.
This product contains eight isolation amplifier channels.
The board provides isolation between the input and output signals and also between channels. The
input gain can be set independently for each channel to either 1 or 200.
Cold Junction Compensation Circuit for Thermocouple Sensor is installed.
This product has a cold junction compensation (CJC) circuit used for all eight channels. The CJC
circuit is available when the 200 gain is selected. The circuit allows a thermocouple to be connected
directly to this product.
Current Input Function is installed.
Each of this product channels has a 250Ω current monitor resistor. This enables a -40mA - +40mA
current input to be converted to a -10V - +10V voltage input.
Easy connection to external signal with M3 screw type terminal blocks.
This product has M3 screw-type terminals for connecting the analog input signals. The analog output
signals for the analog E series boards also use M3 screw-type terminals. These terminals make it easy
to connect external devices.
Other Features
- Easy to connect with the analog E series board through a PCB37PS Series (option).
- This two products can be cascaded to provide a maximum of 16 isolated amplifier channels.
- Either PC power (via CN1) or an external power source can be used to supply power to this
product.
- This product can be installed on the DIN rail using the optional DIN rail installation adapter
(DIN-ADP1).

This warranty is not applicable for scratches or normal wear, but only for the electronic circuitry and
original products. The warranty is not applicable if the device has been tampered with or damaged

(1) Put this product in the storage bag.

CN1 : Connector for connecting to an A/D converter board.
A PCB37PS series cable can be used if connecting to an analog E series board.
CN2 : Connector for connecting another ATII-8C in cascade.
TB1 : Terminal for connecting external power supply (+5V - +9VDC). If JP2 is set to
external power supply, connect the external power supply to this terminal.
TB2 : Terminal for analog output signal. Use to connect the analog output signal (OUT0)
on analog E series boards to an external device.
CH0 - CH7 : Terminals for analog input signals.
Use to connect external devices or thermocouples.
JP1 : Jumper for selecting the signals connected to CN1.

Using Method
This product’ s each channel can have three different applications. Here we show you these
applications of CH0.
Operation as a Voltage Input Amplifier
Input a voltage in the range -10V - +10V to terminal CH0.
The input voltage is output from CN1 via the isolated amplifier.

Input a current in the range -40mA - +40mA to terminal CH0.

- Although the analog input circuits include a protection circuit, do not apply an input signal to any
channel in excess of

Operation as a Thermocouple Sensor Amplifier
Connect the output of the thermocouple sensor to terminal CH0.
The output of the thermocouple sensor is amplified by 200 times and output from CN1 via the isolated
amplifier. The +IN terminal on the terminal bank is connected to a line disconnection detector circuit.
If a line disconnection occurs, the CN1 output is saturated towards the -10V side, providing a line
disconnection detection signal.
The value is output from CN1 after performing CJC based on the temperature sensor on the board.
The default factory settings for the CJC circuit are adjusted for a type K thermocouple sensor. If you
change the type of thermocouple sensor, refer to the section describing the adjustment procedure. Note
that, as hardware linearization is not performed, linearization must be performed based on the output of
CN1.

Cautions Regarding the Power Supply
+5VDC Supply from the A/D Converter Board via CN1
(When JP2 setting = (1 - 2))
The resistance increases with the length of the cable between this product and A/D converter board. A
long cable may result in error of this product due to a low supply voltage.
If connecting this one product only, use a PCB37PS-0.5P or PCB37PS-1.5P cable. If connecting this
two products, use a PCB37PS-0.5P cable.
If using other than a PCB37PS series cable, ensure that the power cable resistance is 0.1Ω or less.
+5V - +9VDC Supply from an External Power Supply
(When JP2 setting = (2 - 3))
Table 4 lists the recommended specifications of the external power supply.
Ensure that the current rating of the power supply has a sufficient safety margin over the maximum
current consumption of this product.
Note also that excessive noise on the power supply line may reduce the accuracy of this product.

Cautions when Using Two ATII-8C Boards
When using two ATII-8C boards, use a PCB37PS-0.5P cable to connect CN2 on the first board to CN1
on the second board. This connects the outputs from CN1 on the second ATII-8C board to IN8 - IN15
of CN1 on the first board via CN2 on the first board. In this case, set jumper JP1 as follows.

The power supplies for this product are set by their respective JP2 jumpers.
Setting JP2 to (1 - 2) supplies power to the two ATII-8C boards via their respective CN1 connectors.
If JP2 is set to (2-3), supply power to the two ATII-8C boards via their respective TB1 terminals.

Adjustment Procedure
For the adjustment procedure, you will require a reference voltage generator and a digital multi-meter.
The following uses CH0 as an example to explain the adjustment procedure.
Preparation :
Set JP4 to voltage input (1 - 2) and JP3 to without CJC (1 - 2). Also set JP1 to IN0.
Always allow a 15-minute warm-up period before starting adjustment.

Adjustment :
(1) Input amplifier gain adjustment
The gain cannot be adjusted with jumper JP5 set to gain = 1.
To adjust the gain, set jumper JP5 to 2-3 to set gain = 200.
Connect the digital multi-meter between check pin CP4 and [-IN] for CH0. Input +10.0000V ÷
200 = 0.0500V to the input terminal and adjust trimmer VR5 until the digital multi-meter reads
+10.0000V.
(2) Isolated amplifier offset adjustment
Connect the digital multi-meter between CN1(pin 1) and CN1(pin 20). Input 0.0000V to the input
terminal and adjust trimmer VR3 until the digital multi-meter reads 0.0000V.
(3) Isolated amplifier gain adjustment
Adjust the isolated amplifier gain after first adjusting the offset. Connect the digital multi-meter
between CN1(pin 1) and CN1(pin 20). Input +10.0000V to the input terminal (or, 0.0500V if the
input gain is set to 200) and adjust trimmer VR4 until the digital multi-meter reads +10.0000V.

(4) CJC circuit adjustment
Connect the digital multi-meter between check pins CP1 and CP3 (GND). For an ambient
temperature of 25
°
C, adjust trimmer VR1 until the digital multi-meter reads -0.050V. If the

C, use the following formula to calculate the expected voltage
