or servicing. Only qualified personnel may install this system.
NFPA 70/National Electrical Code (NEC) or local codes must
be followed. System must be properly grounded according to
National Electrical Code (NEC). Do not lift pump by power cord.

Biohazard Risk
Once wastewater source has been connected to system,
biohazard risk exists. Installer(s) and/or service personnel
must use proper personal protective equipment and follow
handling procedures per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1030 when handling
equipment after wastewater source has been connected to

warning.
Do not modify the cord and plug. When using the cord
and plug, plug into a grounded outlet only. When wiring to
a system control, connect the pump ground lead to the
system ground.
Do not run the pump dry. Dry running can overheat the
pump, which may cause personal injury through burns, and
will void the warranty. See "Standard Limited Warranty" on
Page 6.
The pump normally runs hot. To avoid burns, allow it to cool
for 30 minutes after shutdown before handling it.
Submersible sump pumps are not approved for use in swimming
pools, recreational water installations, decorative fountains

PUMPS NOT OPERATING OR IN STORAGE:
Pumps with carbon ceramic seals must have impellers manually
rotated (6 revolutions) after sitting nonoperational for 3 months
or longer and prior to electrical start-up.
Pumps with tungsten carbide seals must have impellers
manually rotated (6 revolutions) after sitting nonoperational for

GRINDER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
4
1. Remove existing pump and pipe system.
2. Make sure pump compartment is clean of any debris.
3. Make sure there is sufficient amount of
power/control/alarm cord to be able to splice into Pentair
Hydromatic* power/control/alarm cords at the new junction
box.
4. Lift pre-assembled unit into place using lift rope supplied.
5. Guide tabs will line up with existing alignment brackets.
Retrofit system discharge piping should seal with existing
pipe socket.
6. After gooseneck is lined up directly above ball valve socket,
drop into place. Make certain that adapter is forced all the
way into socket to ensure a pressure tight seal.
7. If gooseneck and T-handle do not seat evenly, adjust
discharge piping length by loosening lock nut and rotating
discharge piping until proper length is reached.
8. Rotate ball valve handle/latch to secure piping and open
valve. If gooseneck is not completely forced into the seal
with existing pipe socket as described above, ball valve
handle/latch will not close completely over gooseneck
piping.
9. Route power, control cords, and high water alarm through
junction box.
10. Properly calibrate operation of the unit by ensuring that
liquid level in the basin is at its lowest level when control
panel cycles unit off.
