Introduction to Direct Endpoint Management plugin for

Kaseya VSA

Description of ESET DEM plugin for Kaseya VSA

ESET Direct Endpoint Management integration establishes direct communication between ESET

endpoint/encryption solutions and the Kaseya Virtual System Administrator (VSA). The Kaseya VSA endpoint

agent can also deploy and manage endpoints, so administrators do not need additional servers or an intermediate

console to manage the product. After a short installation process, the integration is embedded in the Kaseya VSA

interface and is always available to the administrator. The integration is created specifically for Kaseya. Therefore,

the integration uses features well known by the Kaseya VSA (for example, filtering options according to Agent

name or Machine groups and the option to choose a View are available across the ESET integration. In addition,

the integration also uses the same concepts as the ESET PROTECT Web Console.

• Ability to deploy ESET security and encryption products using the ESET Direct Endpoint Management

plugin for Kaseya VSA

• Compatibility with ESET security products for Windows (EEA, EES, EFSW, ESMX), Mac (EEA, EES), and Linux

(EEA, EES)

• Support for ESET Endpoint Encryption (full-disk encryption only)

• The Dashboard provides an overview of your machine's situation

• Information about the protection status, module version, installed product, last audit date, and more

• Overview of detected threats and resolutions

• On-demand task execution for:

oScans

oModules updates

oProduct deployments, installations and removals, upgrades, and activations and deactivation

• Policy definition per group and client

• Reporting interface

• License and deployment package management

• Availability for on-premises and cloud versions of Kaseya VSA

Why you should use ESET DEM plugin for Kaseya VSA

• Managed Service Providers (MSPs) can manage ESET endpoint products (Windows, Mac, and Linux) and

ESET Endpoint Encryption (full-disk encryption) directly from the Kaseya appliance (cloud and on-premise)

without needing ESET PROTECT.

• There is no cost to run the ESET PROTECT server.

• If ESET PROTECT is already set up, you can use Kaseya and ESET PROTECT (version 8+) simultaneously. For

example, you can use Kaseya for daily tasks and occasionally log in to the ESET PROTECT Web Console for

more complex solutions.

• Endpoint management is accessible from a single point of contact for all MSP administrators.

• The user interface is based on the same concept as the ESET PROTECT Web Console user interface.

Installation

To install the ESET Direct Endpoint Management plugin for Kaseya VSA:

1. Download the ESET DEM plugin for Kaseya VSA package and extract the files.

2. In the Kaseya VSA Console, click System > Server Management > License Manager.

3. On the Third Party tab, click Install.

On-premises administrators and users must enable the Third Party tab first.

4. Click Browse File and locate the downloaded VSAZ file.

5. Click Next until you finish the installation.

6. After the product is installed, refresh the browser if it does not refresh automatically. The ESET Direct

Endpoint Management icon is displayed at the bottom of the tree.

Allow access to your account

On-premises administrators must ensure that their firewall and network settings allow the DEM Kaseya

plugin to reach their Kaseya server on port 443. The DEM Kaseya plugin server IP address is

40.118.201.244.

During the first log in into the ESET DEM plugin for Kaseya VSA, a window asking you to allow access for the

application to your account should be displayed.

Click Allow.

Enable Third Party App Installation Globally

This topic is for on-premises administrators and users only.

To enable the Third Party tab:

1. Click System > Server Management > Configure.

2. Select the Enable Third Party App Installation Globally option.

3. Click System > Server Management > License Manager.

4. Verify that the Third Party tab is available.

Dashboard

The dashboard provides a quick overview of the current state of ESET endpoints managed by the Kaseya Virtual

System Administrator (VSA). Click ESET Direct Endpoint Management > Show > Dashboard.

The Overview dashboard displays the basic information.

To switch to another dashboard, click the appropriate tab or the plus icon to create and set up a new custom

tab.

1. In the Dashboard section, click the plus icon .

2. Type a name for your tab and click Add Dashboard.

3. You have a clean dashboard with six empty tiles. Continue with setting up the tiles.

Set up the dashboard tiles

1. In the empty dashboard tab, click the + icon.

2. Select one of the available reports and click OK. You can choose from the following reports:

• Top detections in last 7 days

• Top Computer Problems

• Computer Status Overview

• Product Versions

• Top computers with threat events in last 7 days

• Daily summary of threat events in last 30 days

• Last Computer Scan

• Last Audit Date

Remove a tile

Click the gear icon in the top left corner and select Remove.

Remove a custom dashboard tab

Click the gear icon in the right corner and select Delete currently active dashboard.

Computers

The Computers section provides an overview of all the available computers in the Kaseya environment.

View the computers

1. To open the Computers menu, click ESET Direct Endpoint Management > Show > Computers.

2. Do one of the following:

Select a computer and click Show Details or perform one of the available actions.

Computers without an ESET product installed (with only the Kaseya agent deployed and running) are not

displayed by default in the list of computers.

View unmanaged computers to proceed with the first deployment of ESET products.

Select one or more computers and click Actions to see the actions menu.

Filter the view

Filter the view according to:

• The severity of issues found on a computer (normal, critical, warning, and unmanaged)

• By adding a filter from the list of available filters

Edit the displayed columns

Edit the displayed columns list by adding, moving, and removing columns. Click the gear icon in the right corner

and select Edit Columns.

Add columns

1. Add available columns. Click the plus icon to add columns.

2. Click the arrow down or arrow up icons to move a column up or down in the list. Click the close icon

to remove a column from the displayed columns list as needed.

3. Click OK to confirm.

• Audit Date

• EEE License Id

• EEE Maintenance Mode

• EEE Status

• EEE Status Description

• EEE Version

• Encrypted

• IP Address
