•Whenconnectingordisconnectingpowertohot-pluggablepowersupplies,observethe

o Installthepowersupplybeforeconnectingthepowercabletothepowersupply.
o Unplugthepowercablebeforeremovingthepowersupply.

Powering Off and Restarting

1. ShutdownallcomputersconnectedtotheKVMswitch
2. UnplugthepowersupplyfromtheKVMswitch
3. Wait10secondsandthenplugthepowersupplybackintotheKVMswitch
4. Poweronalloftheconnectedcomputers
Port Switching
TherearethreewaysofaccessingcomputersanddevicesconnectedtotheKVMswitch:
•ManualPushbuttons
•Mouseportswitchingfunctionality
•Hotkeys
Manual Pushbuttons
Pressingapushbuttonwillbringthefocusofoneofthefollowingtothecorresponding
port; KVM only, Audio only, USB only, or KVM, Audio and USB focus simultaneously.
WhatfunctionalityisswitchedisdeterminedbytheMode Selectionpushbutton.
PresstheMode Selectionpushbuttontodeterminethefunctionalitythatisswitchedto
aportwhenitspushbuttonispressed.Pressingthemodeselectionpushbuttononce
highlights the KVM, Audio and USBfunctionalityiconsallatthesametime.Pressingit
twice highlights KVM only; three times Audio only; and four times USB only.
After selecting the desired functionality via the Mode Selectionpushbutton,pressthe
pushbuttonoftheportyouwanttoswitchthatfunctionalityto.
Pressingandholdingpushbuttons1and2simultaneouslyformorethan2secondswill
initiate Auto Scanmodeatthedefaultintervalof5secondsperport. Auto Scan mode
switchesbetweenportsatregularintervals.DuringAuto Scanmode,onlytheKVMfocus
switchesbetweenports,whileAudioandUSBremainontheporttheywereatwhenAuto
Scan modewasinitiated.ToexitAuto Scanmode,pressthe[Esc]or[Spacebar]key.On
theB004-2DUA4-K,pressingandholdingpushbuttons3and4simultaneouslyformore
than2secondsperformsakeyboard/mousereset.
Mouse Port Switching Functionality
Whenenabled,theMouse Port Switching Functionality allows users with scroll mice
to simultaneously switch the focus of the KVM, Audio and USBbetweenportsby
double-clickingthescrollwheelontheirmouse.Whenused,portswillbeaccessedin
sequentialorder.(e.g.port1willswitchtoport2;port2toport3,andsoon).
Asthisfunctionisdisabledbydefault,youhavetoenableitviahotkeycommand
(SeeMouse Port Switching in the Hotkeyssectionofthismanualfordetails).
For Mouse Port Switching Functionalitytowork,Mouse Emulation mustbeturnedon.
Hotkeys
Hotkeysallowyoutoswitchfunctionalityfocusbetweenportsusingonlythekeyboard,
aswellascongureKVMswitchsettings.Thefollowingsectiondescribesthehotkey
functionalityavailablefortheB004-2DUA2-KandB004-2DUA4-K.

Port Switching Hotkeys
Toswitchfunctionalitybetweenports,akeyboardhotkeycommandisenteredthat
determines what port is accessed and which functionality is assigned to it. This
commandstartsbypressing[ScrollLock][ScrollLock]or[Ctrl][Ctrl].[ScrollLock]
[ScrollLock]isusedbydefault.Totogglebetweenthesetwo,seeAlternate Port
Switching Hotkey Command in the Hotkey Setting Mode section of this manual.
ThetablebelowcontainsthePort Switching Hotkeys used to determine what port is
accessed and which functionality is assigned to it. Note: The table below uses the
[Scroll Lock] [Scroll Lock] preceding sequence. Simply substitute [Ctrl][Ctrl] if you decide
to change the HotkeyPrecedingSequence.
Hotkey Command Action
[ScrollLock][ScrollLock][Enter] SwitchesfocusoftheKVM, Audio and USB
fromtheportthatcurrentlyhastheKVM
focustotheportthatfollowsit.(e.g.1to2,

that currently has the KVM focus to the port

Command. When Hotkey Setting Modeisactivated,the[ScrollLock]and[CapsLock]

suspended.ThesectionthatfollowsdescribeshowtoactivateHotkey Settingmode,and

Asrmwareupgradesbecomeavailable,theycanbefoundontheinternetat
www.tripplite.com/support. The Firmware Upgrade Utilitycomeswiththermware
upgradele.FirmwareupgradescannotbeperformedsimultaneouslywheninQuad-View
Mode.KVMsinQuad-Viewmodewillneedtobedisconnectedfromeachother,switched
totheHostposition,andupgradedseparately.ToupgradethermwareofyourKVM
switch,followthestepsbelow:
1. FromacomputerconnectedtoyourKVMswitch,gotowww.tripplite.com/supportto
obtainthermwareupgradeforyourKVMswitch,andsaveittoyourcomputer.
2. ShutdownallofthecomputersconnectedtotheKVMswitch,exceptforthe
computerthatyoudownloadedthermwareupgradeto.
3. InvokeFirmware Upgrade Mode via the Firmware Upgradehotkeycommand.
(SeeFirmware Upgrade Mode in the Hotkey Setting Mode section of this manual
fordetails.)
4. Onthecomputerthermwareupgradeleissavedto,runtheFirmware Upgrade
Utility lebydouble-clickingonitorbyopeningupacommandlineandtypinginthe
path to it.
5. Afterreadingthelicenseagreement,clickontheI AgreeoptionandclickNext. The
Firmware Upgrade UtilitymainscreenappearsanddisplaystheKVMswitchinthe
Device List on the left side of the screen.
6. HighlighttheKVMswitchintheDevice List byclickingonitwiththemouse.Ifyou
want the Firmware Upgrade UtilitytochecktheKVM’srmwareversiontoseeifitis
older/newerthanthermwareupgradele,checktheCheckFirmware Versionbox
inthelower-leftofthescreen.IfyouwanttheFirmware Upgrade Utility to upload the
rmwareupgradelewithoutcheckingtheKVM’srmwareversion,leavethisbox
unchecked.ClickNext.
7. IftheCheckFirmware Versionboxischecked,andtheFirmware Upgrade Utility
ndstheKVM’srmwareisnewerthanthatofthermwareupgradele,youwillbe
promptedtocontinueorcancel.Oncethermwareupgradestarts,statusmessages
appear in the Status Message panel and progress towards completion is shown in the
Progress Bar.Whentheupgradeiscomplete,theStatus Message panel will inform
youthatthermwareupgradewasok.Atthispoint,clickFinish to complete the
rmwareupgrade.Afterasuccessfulrmwareupgrade,theswitchwillresetitself.
Firmware Upgrade Failure
Ifyouarenotnotiedofasuccessfulrmwareupgrade,itmeansthatthermware
upgradefailedtoinstallproperly.Inthiscase,dothefollowing.
1. PowerofftheKVMswitchbydisconnectingtheexternalpowersupply.
2. PressandholdtheMode Selection Pushbutton,whileatthesametimeconnecting
theexternalpowersupplytorestorepowertotheKVMswitch.ThefrontpanelLEDs
willbegintoashtoindicatethattheKVMisinrmwareupgrademode.
