Operation
Chopping
Before first use, you must clean the appliance thoroughly, as
described in the section on cleaning.
1) Place the bowl on the stand .
2) Insert the blade holder with the blade onto the bearing .
3) Prepare the food by chopping larger pieces into pieces (approx.
1 in) so they can fit better into the bowl .
To chop cheese and salami, the pieces must
not be larger than ¾ in x ¾ in (2 cm x 2 cm), otherwise the appli-
ance may be damaged.
4) Add the food to the bowl . Please use the following table as a
guide:

5) Close the bowl with the lid : Place it onto the bowl so
that the lugs on the lid grip into the guides on the bowl .
Turn the lid so that the lugs slide into the guides below.
6) Place the motor unit on the lid flange .
7) Press the motor unit downward as shown in fig. B.
The motor starts at normal speed.
To process the food at a higher speed (Turbo), press both the
motor unit and the Turbo button and keep both pressed
down as shown in Fig. C.
If larger pieces start collecting on the wall of the bowl during
processing, lift the motor unit off the lid flange .
Give the bowl a firm shake and restart the processing.
Any remaining residues can be removed with a spatula.
Particularly hard foods should be cut into small pieces (approx.
0.8in / 2 cm) before processing. Otherwise, the motor unit
could lock. Use the pulsing processing method when working
with hard foods. To do this, press the Turbo button several
times briefly (in addition to the motor unit ). If the food is not
completely chopped, you can either cut it into smaller pieces or
lift the motor unit off the lid flange .
Give the bowl a firm shake and restart the processing.
8) Once the food is fully chopped, let go of the motor unit
and, if applicable, the Turbo button .
9) Remove the power plug from the socket.
SMZ 260 I3 US-EN 11
Never attempt to remove food from the bowl until the blade
has come to a complete stop. There is risk of injury and food
can also splash out and make a mess.
10) Wait until the blade has come to a complete standstill.
11) Lift the motor unit off the lid flange .
12) Remove the lid .
Handle the extremely sharp blade with caution as it can
cause injuries. Keep the blade out of the reach of children.
13) Pull the blade holder with the blade carefully out of the
bowl .
14) Remove the food.
Chopping harder, coarse foods can cause the bowl to take
on a dull appearance. This is normal and will not impair the
functioning of the appliance.
After you have finished processing the food, you can use the
stand as a lid for the bowl to keep the food fresh longer.
Take the motor unit and the lid off the bowl .
The blade holder with the blade can remain in the
bowl , if so desired.
Remove the stand from the underside of the bowl .
You can now place the stand on the bowl so that it
closes off the bowl .

Whipping cream
You can also use the appliance to whip cream with the help of the
whisk attachment :
1) Place the bowl on the stand .
2) Push the whisk attachment onto the blade holder :
For 3.38 oz (100 ml) of cream, place it onto the blade
holder so that the whisk attachment is in contact
with both blades and clicks into place (fig. 1):
Fig. 1
For 6.76 oz (200 ml) of cream, turn the whisk attachment
horizontally by 180° (Fig. 2), so that it is in contact with
only one blade and clicks into place (Fig. 3). It then
whips higher through the cream.
180°
Fig. 2
SMZ 260 I3 US-EN 13
Fig. 3
3) Attach the blade holder together with the whisk attachment
to the bearing .
4) Add the cream.
To whip cream, you should make sure that it is well chilled be-
fore whipping (max. 8 °C / 46.5 °F / fridge temperature).
For 3.38 oz (100 ml) oz of cream, we recommend a whipping
time of around 30 seconds at normal speed.
For 6.76 oz (200 ml) oz of cream, we recommend a whipping
time of around 30 - 50 seconds at normal speed.
Depending on certain factors, such as fat content or the ambient
temperature, the whipping time can vary. Keep an eye on the
cream while you are whipping it and adjust the whipping time to
fit your needs.
