ETERNUS CS800 SCALE QUICK START
Using variable-length deduplication, CS800 SCALE provides scalable, backup storage. CS800 SCALE provides easy to
configure disaster recovery protection when it is paired with one or more systems as a replication target.
The ETERNUS CS800 SCALE is an OEM product and functionally identical to Quantum DXi4800. All links below point to
Quantum documentation, which can be used for CS800 SCALE as well. For complete documentation, including pre-

Your system includes a Node, or a Node and up to four Expansion Modules (EMs).
Installing ETERNUS CS800 SCALE
Step 1 Unpack the Node, and ensure it is configured as ordered. Then, unpack the Expansion Module.
See Install > DXi4800 System Installation > Unpack the DXi4800.
Step 2 Determine the order of components in the rack, then locate the mounting position. See Install >
DXi4800 System Installation Install the DXi4800 System in the Rack. For specifications, see
Install > DXi4800 System Installation > Choosing a Location > Rack Space Requirements.

Important
Install the Node and EMs in the rack and connect all cables before following the power-up sequence.
Step 3 Install any Expansion Modules; then
install the Node above the Expansion
Modules. See Install > DXi4800 System
Installation > Install the DXi4800 System

Step 4 Cable the DXi4800. See Install >
DXi4800 System Installation > Install the

Configuring ETERNUS CS800 SCALE
At a minimum, you must complete the following steps to get your system up and running.
See Install > DXi4800 System Installation > Perform Initial Configuration.
You can configure and schedule replication as needed.

Operating the ETERNUS CS800 SCALE
Step 1 Access the Remote Management Console.
Step 2 Complete the Getting Started Wizard.
Step 3 Upload the new DXi software.
Now that the CS800 SCALE is up and running, you can monitor the health of system components, replication and
data reduction statistics, and activities. See Operate > DXi4800 User Guide > DXi4800 Status.
Using the Status page, you can view
information about:

Accent status

Activities
Step 4 Connect the Ethernet cables. For a video, click the
