Keep this manual for safety warnings, precautions, operating or
inspection and maintenance instructions.
1. Operate in a safe work environment. Keep your work area clean,
well lit and free of distractions.
2. Keep anyone not wearing the appropriate safety equipment away
from the work area.
3. Store tools properly in a safe and dry location. Keep tools out of the
reach of children.
4. Always wear impact safety goggles that provide front and side
protection for the eyes.
5. Wear gloves that provide protection based on the work materials.
6. Avoid wearing clothes or jewelry that can become entangled with
the moving parts of a tool. Keep long hair covered or bound.
7. Support the workpiece or clamp it to a stable platform. Holding
the workpiece by hand or against your body may lead to
personal injury.
8. Use the correct tool for the job. This tool was designed for a
specific function. Do not modify or alter this tool or use it for an
unintended purpose.
9. Inspect the tool components periodically. Repair or replace
damaged or worn components.
10. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Only use
accessories intended for use with this tool. Replace damaged
parts immediately.
11. Maintain the tool’s label and name plate. These carry important

OPERATION
PREPARING THE TUBE
1. Prepare the tube before expanding. For hard tubes, the tube will
need to be annealed before expanding. Use a gas torch to heat the
tube, if not, the tube may crack after being expanded. See figure 1.
2. Deburr the tube. Put the deburrer inside the tube and rotate it
clockwise smoothly to deburr the tube. See figure 2.
TUBE EXPANDING
1. Attach the expander head. Pull the expander handle levers apart
before attaching the desired expander head. Select the correct size
of expander head and attach by screwing it on to the tube expander
in a clockwise direction. See figure 3.
2. Insert the expander head into the tube at a depth of 2 to 3 mm.
Squeeze the expander handle levers closed lightly to expand the
tube a little bit, then insert the expander head into the tube the rest
of the desired distance. See figure 4.
NOTE: If the tube is distorted badly and you cannot insert the
expander head into it completely, follow the steps below:
a. Remove the tubing from the expander head.
b. Unscrew the expander head counterclockwise to remove the
expander head from the tube expander.
c. Attach a smaller size expander head onto the tube expander.
See figure 5. For example, if a 7/8 in. O.D. tubing will be
expanded, put a 5/8 in. expander head on the tube expander.
d. Insert the tubing expander head completely into the tube
completely and squeeze the expander handle levers until the
tubing is expanded completely.
e. Remove the smaller expander head from the tube expander
and then put on the correct sized head onto the expander.
See figure 6.
f. Insert the tubing expander head completely into the tube.
3. Squeeze the expander handle levers to the closed position until the
tubing is expanded completely. See figure 7.
4. After the tubing has been expanded, pull the expander handle levers
to the open position to retract the tubing expander head, then
remove the tubing from the expander. See figure 8.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Maintain the tool with care. A tool in good condition is efficient,
easier to control and will have fewer problems.
2. Only use accessories intended for use with this tool.
3. Keep the tool handles clean, dry and free from oil/grease at
all times.
DISPOSAL
Recycle a tool damaged beyond repair at the appropriate facility.
