PLANNING YOUR HOME SECURITY NEEDS
Before you begin to install your security system, analyze the premises to determine
your security needs. Consider those doors and windows which are more likely to be
used as points of entry by an intruder, the ones that are poorly lit or the entrances
that cannot be seen from the street.
Sketch a map of the premises and determine which doors and/or windows need
contact sensors and which area of the premises need to be monitored by a motion
sensor. We recommend you put one door/window sensor on the main door you
enter/exit from most often, other sensor(s) monitoring your bedrooms. The motion
sensor monitors your secondary entrance. Direct the motion sensor at the area you
want to monitor. For example, if you would like to monitor the back door, you can
mount the sensor on the side so it only looks across the back door and cannot see
any movement passing outside its coverage area.
Below is an example of how to position your security system in a house.
