Using the Battery Charger
NOTE: Batteries will not reach full charge the first time they are charged.
Allow several cycles (operation followed by recharging) before the Batteries
will become fully charged.
NOTE: Performance of the charger may vary depending on variations in local
line voltage. Extension cord usage may also affect tool performance.
NOTE: During recharging, the Battery will become slightly warm to the touch.
This is normal and not a cause for concern. Do not keep the Battery or
charger in an environment of extreme heat or cold. They will work best at room
temperature.
Battery Temperature Warning:
WARNING: Battery explosion may cause serious personal or property injury
including death. Charge the Battery only within a 50° to 100° F. temperature range.
Lower temperatures may inhibit charging. Higher temperatures increase chance of
battery failure, including explosion.
Battery Charger Safety:
1. Charge the Battery only with the included charger. Use of other chargers may
cause battery failure including explosion. Only charge the battery on a non-
flammable surface, such as concrete.
2. Ensure that the Battery Charger is connected only to a 120 VAC, 60Hz power
supply that includes a circuit breaker.
Cordless Tool Safety:
1. Before charging the battery, check to be sure that the trigger operates
properly, and returns to the OFF position when released.
2. Be aware that the tool will operate as soon as the trigger is pressed. Be
careful to not press the trigger when loading or changing cartridges or making
any adjustment to the tool.
18. Maintenance. For your safety, service and maintenance should be performed
regularly by a qualified technician.
Warning: The warnings, cautions, and instructions discussed in this instruction

Working with the Rechargeable Battery
Charging the Battery:
1. Batteries are normally shipped with low or no charge to prevent potential
problems during shipment. Before use, you must charge your new Batteries.
Charge time is approximately 3-5 hours. Before charging the battery it is
suggested that you first discharge the battery, by operating the tool, and allow
the battery to cool before performing initial charge.
2. Plug the battery charger into a 120 VAC, 60Hz power outlet.
3. Plug the Charger into the outlet in the Battery pack (1) in the handle of the
tool. The Red LED will illuminate indicating that a Battery is charging.
4. The Red LED will remain on for approximately 3-5 hours while the Battery
charges. When the Battery is fully charged the charger will stop charging, the
Red LED will go out, and the Green LED will illuminate indicating that the
Battery is fully charged.
5. When the Battery is fully charged, remove the charger plug from the Battery
Pack, and unplug the charger from its power source. Put the charger away for
safekeeping. Do not leave the Battery Charger plugged in and attached to the
tool indefinitely.
Operation
Using your Cordless Grease Gun
1. Charge the battery as discussed above.
2. Retract the Plunger by pulling it downward. Unscrew the cap from the bottom
of the Cylinder (4) and remove the cap and plunger assembly.

About Grease
Selecting the right grease:
Grease is available in many types and grades. It is important to select the correct
grease for your application. Most types of grease are available in 3 Oz. cartridges,
which will operate in this tool.
Axle Grease is commonly used in bearings and axles. It is relatively inexpensive.
It is made of fatty oils with addition of tar, mica or graphite.
Calcium and Sodium based greases are the most common. Sodium based
grease has a higher melting point than Calcium, but is less resistant to water.
Lithium based grease has high temperature resistance and good resistance to
water. It is a good choice for high performance applications and applications which
are exposed to weather.
Grease Additives:
Special compounds are often added to basic grease to improve performance for
certain applications.
Teflon® is often added to improve lubricity.
Rosin oil with lime are often added to the basic mineral oil and water found in
gear grease.
Glycerol and Sorbitan Esters are often used in low-temperature grease.
Graphite or Molybdenum are often used in extreme pressure (“EP”) greases.
These solids prevent the operating parts of machinery from contacting each other
during heavy loading operation.
About Zerk Fittings
Grease fittings are known as “Zerk Fittings” They come in several common sizes.
Zerk fittings thread into axles and bearing housings, making it easy to add grease
to those parts. This grease gun is designed to fit standard Zerk fittings.
To operate, simply press the Grease Fitting (5) of this tool over the Zerk fitting of
your work item. The Zerk fitting has a small spring loaded ball bearing in the end
which acts as a one-way valve to allow grease to enter.
Zerk fittings will occasionally be damaged or become clogged. They can be easily
replaced by turning them counterclockwise to remove, and a new one turned
clockwise back into the opening.
Replacement Zerk fittings may be purchased from Harbor Freight Tools and other
hardware sources.

Troubleshooting
Tool will not operate or operates slowly:
1. Battery may need to be charged. Recharge the Battery.
2. Too great a load is being placed on the tool. Check to be sure the grease
fittings of both the tool and the work item are not clogged or damaged. Check
to be sure protective foil cover has been removed from grease cartridge. Check
to be sure plunger is functioning properly. Check condition of cartridge and
grease, replace if necessary.
Battery loses charge quickly:
1. A new Battery will not hold a charge as long as older ones. Completely
deplete and recharge Battery Pack several times to extend its charge life.
Grease squirts out of Cylinder at Plunger:

may be clogged or damaged. Check condition of cartridge and fittings, repair
or replace if necessary.
