General information:
The Player will typically display a repeating loop of information usually containing the current pool temperature and the current setpoint.
At times the display will show a timer or error codes if conditions exist, but mostly you will come to recognize the Temp and Setpoint loop.
One of the timers that you will see is the Off timer. This is a 240 second (4 minute) countdown that will occur anytime the Heat Siphon
turns off either in the background or shown directly on the display. This is a safety feature that allows the internal pressures to equalize before
restarting. You will see it as, “OFF, 239, 238, 237, 236, OFF, 234, 233” etc.
Another timer you will see is the FLO timer. This is a 15 second timer that begins when the water pump turns on. This is to give the water
pump time to push all the bubbles through the system and achieve good water flow before the Heat Siphon turns on. You will see it as, “FLO,
14, 13, 12, 11, FLO, 9, 8, 7, 6” etc. Modes: (POOL, SPA, AUTO PIC, OFF)
At any time and from any mode, press BOTH arrow keys at the same time and the display will begin blinking showing the current mode.
You now have 3 seconds to press the up (or down) arrow. You can continuously press the up (or down) arrow to scroll through the four different
modes. The modes are: POOL, SPA, AUTO PIC, and OFF. Three seconds after your last keypress the mode will be accepted with an audible beep.
Notice that the lights will change to match the mode.
POOL mode: changing setpoint
The Temp/Setpoint display loop for Pool mode is: “POOL 78F; HEAT SET 80F” You can tell you are in POOL mode by the green light and
the use of the word “POOL” in the water temperature display, ex. “POOL 78F”. “HEAT SET 80F” tells you the pool thermostat is set for 80F.
At any time you can press the up or down arrow key once, the current setpoint temperature will blink, at that point press either the up
arrow to increase the setpoint or the down arrow to decrease setpoint. Three seconds after your last keypress, the new setpoint will be accepted
with an audible beep. You can confirm your new setpoint by watching the Temp/Setpoint display loop. The Heat Siphon will maintain this
temperature within a degree and a half.
SPA mode : changing setpoint
The Temp/Setpoint display loop for Spa mode is: “SPA 100F; HEAT SET 102F” You can tell you are in Spa mode by the yellow light and
the use of the word “SPA” in the water temperature display, ex. “SPA 100F”. “HEAT SET 102F” tells you the spa thermostat is set for 102F.
What is AUTO PIC?
Auto Pic is a way for the Heat Siphon to decide, on its own, what body of water you are heating (pool or spa) and then heat that body of
water to the correct setpoint (pool setpoint or spa setpoint). This is a convenience feature and the goal is to allow you to simply turn your pump
off, switch your valves to pool or spa, and turn your pump back on. The Heat Siphon will do the rest.
How does AUTO PIC work?
Any time the Heat Siphon sees the water pump turn on, the Heat Siphon tries to decide what body of water it is heating. It does this by
turning on and heating the water for 5 minutes. If the heat up rate is fast then it will assume it is heating a spa and heat to the SPA SETpoint.

If the heat up rate is slow then it will assume it is heating a pool and heat to the POOL SETpoint. AUTO PIC : lights and display
The Heat Siphon shows you it is Auto Pic-ing, or waiting to Auto Pic, by flashing both the green (pool) and yellow(spa) lights at the same
time. It will flash fast if it is waiting for a timer to expire, and flash slow once it turns on and starts the Auto Pic process. Once it has chosen a
mode to run in, it will stop flashing both lights and only turn on the chosen mode’s light. If it picks “auto pool” mode then you will only see
the green (pool) mode light turn on. “Auto spa” mode will be the yellow (spa) light
Even though you only see one light you will know you are still in Auto Pic mode because of the display text. The first part of the display
text will change to indicate what the Heat Siphon is doing. “AUTO HEAT 75F” tells you that it is still Auto Pic-ing a mode and the water temp
is 75. “AUTO POOL 75F” tells us that it has chosen the pool setpoint and the water temp is 75. “AUTO SPA 100F” tell us that it has chosen the
spa setpoint and the water temp is 100. The pool setpoint and the spa setpoint will always follow the water temperture in the Auto Pic Temp/
Setpoint loop. AUTO PIC : changing setpoint
You can change the setpoints for either POOL or SPA by pressing the up OR down arrow when you see the portion of text corresponding
to the setpoint you want to change. If you want to change the SPA setpoint, then press an
arrow key when you see “SPA SET 102F”, and to change the POOL setpoint, press an arrow key when you see, “POOL
SET 80F”. Just like in Pool or Spa mode, three seconds after your last keypress your new setpoint will be accepted with an audible beep.
OFF mode:
OFF mode puts the Heat Siphon into an off state. The Heat Siphon is now dormant until someone presses a key. Once any key is pressed,
the Player will restart into the last known mode before OFF was chosen. And the 240 second Off timer will begin. Fahrenheit/Celsius: changing
temperature scale
To change the temperature display from F to C, or from C to F, press and hold both arrow keys for three seconds. (you will hear beeping
during this time) Once you see the current scale (F or C) displayed, release both arrow keys and then press just one arrow key to change to the
desired temperature scale. You may scroll between the two scales by repeated pressing of an arrow key. Three seconds after your last keypress,
the new temperature scale will be accepted with an audible beep. Player Key Lock: locking and unlocking the keys
To lock the Player, press and hold both arrow keys until you see “LOC” on the display (six seconds), then release both keys. Three sec-
onds after you release, “LOC” will be accepted with an audible beep. Your keys are now locked. The display will continue to show the current
Temp/Setpoint loop and continue to heat your pool or spa as needed, however any keypress will show “LOC” on the display.
To unlock the Player, simply press and hold both arrow keys for six seconds until you hear a
beep, then release both buttons and the Player is now unlocked
