NFC - moto g7 power
Using NFC on the moto g
7
power
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a short-range wireless technology that lets you quickly
exchange information between your phone and other NFC-enabled smartphones, smart
accessories, and smart posters.
When you use NFC to communicate with other devices, you do so securely:
NFC only works over a short range (a few centimetres), so it's unlikely that you'll connect by
mistake. In order to snag your NFC signal, an eavesdropper would need to be uncomfortably
close to you. And you would still have to accept the connection before sending or receiving
information.
Your phone uses the latest security, encryption, and authentication features to protect your
personal information.
You can turn off NFC when you’re not using it. But even when NFC is ON, it's automatically
disabled when your phone display is locked.
Along with these safeguards, exchange information only with others you know and trust.
Share or receive with NFC
NFC makes it easy to securely share with sources you trust, without having to type a lot of
information or struggle with account configurations.
Turn NFC on
1. Go to Settings > Connected Devices > Connection Preferences
2. Turn on NFC.
3. Touch Android Beam and make sure it is on.
Share content between devices
Share or beam content from your phone to another device by touching the devices together
(usually back to back). Before you begin, make sure both devices are unlocked, support NFC,
and have NFC and Android Beam turned on.
1. Open the screen that contains something you want to share, such as a photo, web page, video,
map, or contact.
2. Touch the back of your phone to the back of the other device.
When the devices connect, they vibrate and you see Tap to beam on your phone.
3. Touch your screen to share the content.
Read NFC tags on posters and signs
Receive web links, e-coupons, brochures, maps, and more from an NFC tag. Look for the NFC
logo on NFC-enabled accessories, posters, signs and store displays. Just touch the back of your
phone to within 2 cm of the logo to receive its tag information.
Turn NFC off
Go to Settings > Connected Devices > Connection Preferences and turn off NFC.
How to properly charge the moto g7 power
If you are just setting up your moto g
7
power, new batteries are not fully charged. Plug the
supplied battery charger into your phone and an electrical outlet. It may take several seconds to
start charging the battery.
If your battery is completely discharged, it may take several minutes for the device to begin
charging. The battery needs to charge to a minimum voltage before the system can boot up, and
this may take a few moments to achieve.
It is best to use the Motorola charger that came with your phone. Chargers have different output
capacities, and a weak charger will take longer to charge your battery. If you are using the
device heavily at the time, it may be possible for a weak charger to fail to provide enough energy
to actually charge at all.
Important note: The Motorola Turbo charger will charge the device at a faster rate when the
device is below 78%. If the device is already at 78% or higher, it will charge at regular speed.
Battery charging rate will start to slow down when the battery temperature reaches 44C or
above. Once device cools down, charging rate will go back to normal for Turbo charging.
NOTE: If your device is below 78%, but it does not begin Turbo charging when you plug it into
the Turbo Charger, try uplugging and plugging back in using one fluid motion.
During initial set up of your device, once you have added your accounts (Google and any others)
your device will typically transfer significant data while it initially synchronizes your accounts
and updates applications from the Play Store. Your phone's battery may drain faster than usual
during this initial update and sync session. After the initial sync, and a few charging cycles, your
battery will reach its maximum capacity. We strongly recommend keeping the phone attached to
the charger during the initial sync.
It may take several charging cycles for your battery to reach optimum performance.
When your device is turned on and you are charging, the battery icon in the top notification bar
will show the charging indicator, which looks like a lightning bolt inside the battery.
When your device is turned off, the charging indicator will be in the middle of the screen looks
like the outline of a battery. You may need to briefly press the power button to activate the
screen.
We suggest charging each night so you start the day fully charged and ready to go!
Your device will warn you when its battery is getting low, first when the charge remaining falls
below 15% of its capacity, and again below 5%. When you see these warnings it is a good idea
to charge as soon as you can and/or stop usage that could wait for a later time. For example -
and depending on your circumstances and priorities - you could enter airplane mode to stop all
radio transmissions, or stop applications that use a lot of energy (such as navigation or streaming
applications).
My moto g7 power does not seem to be
charging, or is doing so slower than I expect
It is best to use the Motorola charger that came with your phone. Chargers have different output
capacities, and a weak charger will take longer to charge your battery. If you are using the
device heavily at the time, it may be possible for a weak charger to fail to provide enough energy
to actually charge at all.
Inspect the charger. Ensure it is not damaged - check the insulation on the wire for cuts, ensure
the micro-USB plug fits securely into the device, and that the transformer (the larger portion with
the wall outlet plugs) is not visible damaged. Some wall outlets can be loose - the prongs of the
plug do not firmly make contact with the conductors inside the wall. While connected to your
phone, jiggle the charger at the wall outlet and watch the battery icon at the top of the phone's
status bar. If the charging icon shows intermittently, try using a different outlet (and get an
electrician to replace the loose outlet).
If your battery is completely discharged, it may take several minutes for the device to begin
charging. The battery needs to charge to a minimum voltage before the system can boot up, and
this may take a few moments to achieve.
If you have already been using your phone for a while, sometimes a collection of applications are
using resources and background services that keep your phone more active than it needs to
be. Hold the button in the lower right hand corner and close out of any open applications by
swiping them to the right or selecting the "X" in the upper right hand corner of each window.
A quick and easy test is to reboot your phone if you have not turned it off in a long time (> 1
week). Press and hold the power key to select the Power Off option. Then turn your phone
back on and charge your phone normally. Try to observe if any particular applications that you
use correlate with the phone using dramatically more energy than you expect (discharging faster
or charging slower).
1. Try another charger
2. See if the issue remains in Safe Mode
3. See if the issue remains when charging the device while it is off.
Tips to extend the battery life
Your particular usage will affect how long you can go before recharging your battery.
Navigating, playing games, surfing the Web, making calls and texting all use energy. You can
install and use a wide variety of applications on your device, and each application has its own
characteristics.
Thus your experience may vary day to day, depending on how you use your device.
Depending on your preferences, you can tailor how your device behaves by using some of the
following tips:
Charge each night so you start the day fully charged and ready to go.
You can see what subsystem, component, or application is using the most power: Touch
> Settings > Battery
If you are stationary in an area in which there is low or no cellular signal, it may be
prudent to enter airplane mode unless you must be able to (try) to make or receive calls or
texts. Doing so will prevent the phone from increasing power output in an attempt to
connect to the weak signal.
When setting the phone down after use, quickly press the power key to turn the display
off.
Set Screen timeout less then 1 minute: From the Settings menu, scroll down and tap on
Settings > Display > Advanced and then tap on Sleep to select a faster time-out.
Turn off applications actively using GPS, such as navigation applications when you no
longer need them. It is easy to forget to 'end navigation' when you reach your
destination. Swipe down from the notification bar to see if active navigation applications
offer an option to quit or exit.
Applications: some applications and widgets can use a lot of energy when you use
them. Others can also behave in a non-battery friendly manner when you are not using
them. Apps that use a lot of wireless data (streaming Video or Music, navigation/maps,
etc) will take more out of your battery because the wireless radios have to transmit and
receive a lot of data. Applications that have frequent updates (social applications, email,
IM, etc.) are also active energy consumers. Some live wallpapers and widgets may also
be consuming power. In general, observe how long your battery lasts relative to the
applications that you are using. There are many system utility applications on the Play
Store that can help identify how apps consume resources (power, data, memory) for those
so inclined to dig deeper.
A quick and easy step is to reboot your phone if you have not turned it off in a long time
(> 1 week), or if you feel it has become sluggish and its battery life is not what you
expected. Press and hold the power key to select the Power Off option. Then turn your
phone back on and charge your phone normally. Frequent reboots can help keep poorly
behaved applications from using more than its share.
Wi-Fi: in broad terms, data over Wi-Fi uses less energy than data over cellular (and will
also save on usage if you have a cap). However if Wi-Fi is not available you may choose
to turn it off as well: Swipe down from the top of the screen, and tap the quick setting
Wi-Fi Off.
Turn Bluetooth off when not in use: Swipe down with 2 fingers from the top of the
screen, then tap Bluetooth > toggle Bluetooth off.
Ensure you do not have duplicate email accounts in different applications. To check for
duplicate accounts, touch Settings > Under Accounts touch the account type > Ensure
there are no duplicates. To remove an account, touch the account > Touch Menu >
Touch Remove account
Battery Saver Mode
Battery Saver helps you keep going on a low battery by automatically restricting mobile data
until the next charge. Some apps and services won’t work unless you’re connected to a Wi-Fi
network.
1. Swipe the status bar down with two fingers and touch .
2. Battery Saver and turn it on.
3. To turn on Battery Saver automatically when your power is below a specified level, touch
Settings > Battery > Battery Saver > Enable Turn on Automatically
When the phone is in Battery Saver mode, the top (status bar) and bottom (navigation buttons) of
the home screen turn red.
Analyze battery use
You can get detailed information about what level of charge your battery has, how much time
remains on current charge, and recommendations on how to adjust your settings to maximize
battery life.
To review battery use and adjust settings:
1. Go to Settings > Battery > Usage Details
2. You'll see a list of items using battery power, adjust settings to reduce its usage.
