SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read and understand the owner's manual and labels
affixed to the log splitter. Learn its application and
limitations as well as the specific potential hazards
peculiar to it.
Do not operate the log splitter while under the
influence of drugs, alcohol, or any medication that
could affect your ability to use it properly.
Avoid dangerous conditions:
- Put the log splitter on a 60 - 75cm high, stable, flat,
and level work bench where there is plenty of
room for handling, and helps the operator to stay
alert. Bolt the log splitter to the work surface if it
tends to slip, walk, or slide.
- Keep your work area clean and well lighted.
Cluttered areas invite injuries.
- Do not use the log splitter in wet or damp areas
or expose it to rain.
- Do not use it in areas where fumes from paint,
solvents or flammable liquids pose a potential
hazard.
Check your log splitter before turning it on. Keep
guards in place and in working order. Form a habit of
checking to see that keys and adjusting wrenches are
removed from tool area before turning it on.
Do not wear loose clothing, neckties or jewelry
(rings, wrist watches). For long hair, wear hair
protection. Work only with closely fitting clothes.
Protective electrically non conductive gloves and
non-skid footwear are recommended when
working.
Protect your eyes and face.
Any log splitter may throw foreign objects into the
eyes. This can cause permanent eye damage. Always
wear safety goggles.
Do not put the log splitter on the ground for
operations. This is an awkward operating position:
the operator has to bring his face close to the
machine, and thus risks being struck by wood chips
or debris.
Keep visitors and children away.
The log splitter must be operated by one person
only. Other people should keep a safe distance from
the work area. Never use other people to help you
with freeing a jammed log.
Inspect your log.
Make sure there are no nails or foreign objects in logs
to be split. The ends of the logs must be cut square.
Branches must be cut off flush with the trunk.
Do not overreach
- Floor must not be slippery.
- Never stand on the log splitter. Serious injury
could occur if the tool is tipped or if the cutting
tool is unintentionally contacted. Do not store
anything above or near the log splitter where
anyone might stand on the tool to reach them.
Avoid injury from unexpected incidents
- Always pay full attention to the movement of the
log pusher.
- Do not attempt to load the log on until the log
pusher has stopped.
- Keep hands away from moving parts.
Protect your hands
- Keep your hands away from splits and cracks
which open in the log. They may close suddenly
and crush or amputate your hands.
- Do not remove jammed logs with your hands.
Do not force the tool
- Never try to split logs larger than those indicated
in the specifications table. This could be
dangerous and may damage the machine.
- Do not use the log splitter for a purpose for
which it was not intended.
Never leave the machine running unattended
Do not leave the machine until it has come to a
complete stop.
• Disconnect power
Unplug when not in use, before making adjustments,
changing parts, cleaning, or working on the log
splitter. Consult the manual before servicing.
Protect the environment
- Take used oil to an authorised collection point or
follow the stipulations from the country where
the log splitter is used.
- Do not discharge into drains, soil or water.
Make the workshop childproof
- Lock the room.
- Disconnect master switches.
- Store the log splitter away from children and
others not qualified to use it.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
• Extension cords
Improper use of extension cords may cause
inefficient operation of the log splitter which can
result in overheating. Be sure the extension cord is
no longer than 10m and its section is no less than
2.5mm2 to allow sufficient current flow to the
motor.
Avoid use of free and inadequately insulated
connections. Connections must be made with
protected material suitable for outdoor use.
Avoid electrical shock

KONFORMITETSERKLÆRING
(
DK
)
Ferm 51
- Check that the electric circuit is adequately
protected and that it corresponds with the
power, voltage and frequency of the motor.
- Never open the electric control box on the
motor. Should this be necessary, contact a
qualified electrician.
Use a portable residual current device (PRCD) if a
residual current device (RCD) with a maximum
residual current of 0.03 A is not provided in the
electrical system.
3. ASSEMBLY
Prior to mounting an accessory always unplug the
tool.
Mounting the support leg
Place the support leg (5) under the work table as
shown in figure 1.
Connect the support leg to the work table with help
of the bolts and nuts.
Bleed screw
Fig. 1
Before operating the log splitter, the bleed screw
(13) should be loosened by some rotations until air
can go in and out of the tank smoothly.
Before moving the log splitter, make sure the bleed
screw is tightened to avoid oil leaking from this point.
Failed to loosen the bleed screw will keep the
sealed air in hydraulic system being compressed
after being decompressed. This can cause
permanent damage to the hydraulic system of the
log splitter.
Maximum pressure limiting screw
Fig. 2
The pressure of the hydraulic system is adjusted in the
factory by qualified mechanics on 4 tons maximum. The
maximum pressure limiting screw (15) is sealed with
glue.
Do not adjust the maximum pressure limiting
screw. Unauthorised resetting can cause serious
injury or damage to the machine.
4. USE
Before operation: inspect hydraulic pipes and
hoses and test stopping device.
Danger! Keep clear of moving parts.
The log splitter has to be operated by one person
only. Keep bystanders away.
Two-hand control
Fig. 1 + 2
The log splitter has to be operated by the user with both
hands:
First push the button (7) with your right hand. Now the
electromotor starts running (no load).
Then control the hydraulic control lever (11) with your
left hand.
When pushing lever and switch, the log pusher (1)
will move towards the wedge (3).
The log pusher will automatically return to start
position when one hand stops pushing the lever or
switch.
The shape and position of the wedge (3) help to
clamp the log on its place.
Never force the log splitter for more than 5 seconds
by keeping pressure on it to split excessively hard
wood. Otherwise the hydraulic system overheats
and the machine could be damaged.
Placing the log on the splitter
Fig. 1 + 3
Always set logs firmly on the log retaining plates (6)
and a work table.
Make sure logs will not twist, rock or slip while being
split.
Do not force the blade by splitting the log on the
upper part. This will break the blade or damage the
machine.
Break the log in the direction of the growing grain.
Do not place the log across the log splitter for
splitting.
Do not attempt to split 2 pieces of logs at the same
time: risk of personal injury by log being flung out.
Freeing a jammed log
Fig. 4A + 4B
Release both controls.
After the log pusher (1) moves back and completely
stops at its starting position, insert a wedge wood
under the jammed log.
Start the log splitter to push the wedge wood to go
completely under the jammed one.
Repeat above procedure with sharper slope wedge
woods until the log is completely freed.
Do not try to knock the jammed log off. Knocking
will damage the machine or may launch the log and
cause accidents.

Unscrew the oil drain bolt with dipstick to remove it.
Turn the log splitter on the support leg side and drain
the oil off in a container (fig. 5).
Turn the log splitter on the motor side (fig. 6).
Refill fresh hydraulic oil (see Technical Specifications
for quantity)
Clean the dipstick and put it back into the oil tank
while keeping the log splitter vertically.
Clean the oil drain bolt and tighten it, to avoid
leakage before placing the log splitter horizontally.
Following hydraulic oils can be used for the hydraulic
system of the log splitter:
SHELL Tellus 22
MOBIL DTE 11
ARAL Vitam GF 22
BP Energol HLP-HM 22
Periodically check oil level to ensure it is between
the 2 grooves around the dipstick.
Sharpening the wedge
After using the log splitter for some time, sharpen the
wedge of the log splitter using a fine-toothed file and
smooth any burrs of crushed area along the cutting edge.
Cleaning
Regularly clean the machine housing with a soft cloth,
preferably after each use. Keep the ventilation slots free
from dust and dirt.

Fig. 4A+4B
Frigør begge kontrolenheder.
Indsæt et stykke kiletræ under det fastklemte træ,
efter at træskubberen (1) er flyttet tilbage og stoppet
helt ved dennes startposition
Start kløvemaskinen for at skubbe kiletræet helt ned
under den fastklemte del.
Gentag ovenstående procedure med mere skarpt
skråt kiletræ, indtil træet er total frit.
Forsøg ikke at slå det fastklemte træstykke af. Slag
vil beskadige maskinen, og kan starte
kløvemaskinen og forårsage ulykker.
