IRINjackontherearpanelofXT.So,XT
canbecontrolledbytheIRremotecontrol
ineachroomthroughIRsensor.Thereis
IROUTasbufferedoutputofIRINfor
controllingunitshookinguptoXTor
operatingasdaisychainfortheIRsignal
passingthroughthesystem.
Youcanselectdifferentremotecommand
codestocontroluptofourXTs
independentlywiththesamewireless
remotecontrolsystem.SettheZone
switchtothenumber1-4that
correspondstothezoneyouprogrammed
withtheremotecontrolhandset(see
RemoteControl).Whenyouturnonthe
XTafteryoumovetheZoneswitchthe
displaywillbrieflyflashZONECHANGE
withthezonenumberyoujustselected.

ForconveniencetheXTcanbetriggered
toturnonautomaticallywhenasuitable
voltageisappliedtoitsTriggerINjack.
Whenautomaticturnonisselectedthe
XTfrontpanelPowerbuttonisdisabled
sothaton/offisdeterminedsolelybythe
triggeringpreamporcontroller.
WhentheManAutoswitchisinitsMan
(manual)position,theautoturnon
functionisdisabledandtheXTmustbe
turnedonandoffmanuallywiththe
Powerbuttononitsfrontpanel.
WhentheManAutoswitchissettoits
Autoposition,theXTisturnedonandoff
witheitheranexternaldcoracvoltageof
3.3Vto30Vfromyourcontrolleror
preamplifier.Whenexternalvoltage
ceasestheXTwillturnoffimmediately.
TheAutoswitchpositiondisablesthe

dcjack.TotriggertheXT,plugoneendof
thecordintothisjackandtheotherend

Whenthepowerswitchispressed,theXT
turnsonandthesmallindicatorlightabove
theswitchwillglowblue.Presstheswitch
againtoturnofftheXTandtheindicator
lightgoesout.
AnycombinationofAMandFMstations,
uptoatotalofthirtyselections,maybe
storedinthememoryofthetuner.Each
selectionisassignedtoapresetbutton
andmayberecalledbypressingthe
appropriatepresetbutton.Thememory
willpreservepresetassignments
permanentlyafterapowerlossorifthe
AClinecordisunplugged.
ThisbuttonengagestheMemoryEnter
modewhichisusedtoassignselected
stationstothepresets.Procedurefor
enteringstationsintomemory:
a.SelecteithertheFMorAMbandby
pressingtheAMFMbutton.
b.Manuallytunetothedesiredstationby
usingtheTuningControlbuttons.Check
thecentertuneindicatortobesurethatthe
stationisproperlytunedandadjustif
necessary.
c.Tostoretheselectedstationinpreset
number1,presstheMEMORYbutton,then
pressthe0buttonandthenthe1button.
(Forpresetpositions1through9,the0
buttonshouldbepressedbeforethe
numberispressed,i.e.01,02,03,etc.
Otherwise,youmayhavetowaitforfew
secondsafterthe1to9digitispressed.)
NOTE:AftertheMEMORYbuttonis
pressed,apresetpositionmustbe
selectedwithinapproximately5seconds.
Ifnopresetpositionisselectedwithinthat
time,theMemoryEntermodewill
automaticallydeactivate.
d.Aftertuningtothenextdesiredstation,
presstheMEMORYbuttonthen,within5
seconds,pressthe0buttonandthe2
buttontostorethatstationinpreset
position2.
e.Continueinthismannertillallselected
stationshavebeenentered.
f.Ifyouchangeyourmindormakea
mistake,itisnotnecessarytoreprogramall
presetsinsequence.Reprogramany
presetsimplybytuningtothedesired
station,presstheMEMORYbuttonand
thenpressthedesiredpresetnumber.
g.IftheMEMORYbuttonispressedby
accident,itcanbedeactivatedimmediately
bypressingagaintheMEMORYorAMFM
buttonorsimplybywaiting3to5seconds
forautomaticdeactivation.
Thisbuttonswitchesbetweenthetwo
tuningbands:FMorAM.Thedigitaltuning
displayshowsthetunedfrequencyinMHz
(forFM)orKHz(forAM).Thetuningcircuit
maintainsa"laststationselected"memory,
returningtothepreviouslyselectedstation
whenswitchingbetweenbands.
WhenastereoFM signalisdetected,the
tunerautomaticallyswitchesintostereo
modeanddisplaysthe"S".However,very
weakFMstationsignalsmaybe
excessivelynoisy.PressingtheMONO
buttondisablesthestereoFMcircuitsinthe
tunerresultinginsignificantreductionof
noise.The"ML"isdisplayedwhen
enforcedmonooperationisengaged.
RemembertodisengagetheMONObutton
whentuningtonormalstrongerstations
becauseaslongastheMONObuttonis
engaged,broadcastscannotbereceivedin
stereo.
ThisbuttonengagestheAUTOmode,
indicatedby"(A)"ontheleftofthe
display.WheninAUTOmode,thetuner
advancesinastation-by-stationmode.
WhentheTuningbuttonsarepressed,
thetunerwilladvancerapidlyupordown
automaticallystoppingatthenextstation
whosesignalisstrongenoughtoassure
goodreception.Amutingcircuit
automaticallysilencestheoutputduring
theadvancetillthetuningcircuitslock
ontoastation.DisengagingtheAUTO
buttonputsthetunerintoMANUALmode
whichallowstuninginsmallstepsto
searchforweakstationsorfinetuningto
minimizeinterference.TheMANUAL
modepartiallyoverridesthescanmuting
allowingallstationsandinterstationnoise
tobeheardatreducedlevelswhile
tuning.WhenMANUALmodeis
operating,"(M)"isindicatedinthedisplay.
TuningupordowntheAMandFMbands
isaccomplishedbypressingeitherofthe
twoTUNINGbuttons.Pressthe>button
totunetowardhigherfrequenciesorthe<
buttontotunetowardlowerfrequencies.
WhentheXTisinMANUALmode,the
tuningfrequencywillchangeinsmall
steps.WhentheXTisinAUTOmode,the
frequencywillcontinuetoadvancerapidly
tillthebuttonisreleased.Observethe
Tuningindicatorswhilefinetuningto
obtainmaximumsignalstrength.OnFM,
finetunetillthecentertuneindicatoris
illuminated.
WhentheTIMEbuttonispressed,the
timeisdisplayed.Thefirsttwo
charactersattheleftofthedisplay
indicateAMorPMfollowedbythetime.
Iftheselectedstationisnottransmittinga
timesignal,NOCLOCKwillappearinthe
display.
WhentheTYPEbuttonispressed,the
typeof programmaterialwillbe
displayed,e.g.News,Classic,Pop,
Sport,etc.Iftheselectedstationisnot
transmittingTYPEinformation,NONEwill
appearinthedisplay.

goodperformancewithonlyaribbonwiredipoleantenna.Howevertherearelimitations
toadipole.ItisnoteffectiveatrejectingmultipathdistortionandotherformsofFM
interferenceanditcannoteasilybeorientedforoptimizingitsreceptionpattern.Other
possiblesolutions,inorderofincreasingcost,include:

asconvenient.
*ConnecttothetunerattheAMantennaterminal.
*ConnectanotherwirefromtheGroundterminaltoatrue"earth"ground,suchasa
copperplatedroddrivenseveralfeetintotheearth.Alternategroundsincludea
coldwaterpipe,asteamradiatororeventhethirdholeofamodernelectricalwall
