Use according to purpose
The system is suited to playback (audio cas-
settes, CD, CD-R, CD-RW/MP3) and record audio
cassettes. It is also suited for the reception of
radio stations.
Every modification to the system is deemed an
interference with its intended purpose and cause
for a substantial risk of accident. The manufac-
turer does not accept liability for damage caused
by utilisation that does not comply with the
intended purpose. Not suitable for commercial
application.

Safety
Important Safety Instructions
The following safety instructions must be
observed in any event when using electrical
appliances.
These instructions will assist you in preventing
severe injury and damage to the system and will
ensure that you will enjoy your designer system
for a long time.
Please read the following information on safety
and the correct use with care.
Before reading, unfold the page containing the
illustrations ( ) and familiarise yourself
with all of the system‘s functions. Keep these
notes safely and if necessary pass them to third
users.
To avoid risk of an electric shock:
· Never open the system. The inside does not
contain any components which require main-
tenance.
· Do not operate the design system if the line
cord or the mains plug is damaged. If the unit
does not operate perfectly, or was damaged
have it instantly examined and repaired by
customer services.
Please refer to your warranty card to locate
your national service point.
· Do not expose the device to rain and never
use it in a humid or wet environment (e.g.
bathroom) or in rooms filled with dust. Please
ensure that the line cord is never wet or moist
during operation.
· Caution! Keep children away from the
system. Children frequently underestimate
the risks involved in handling electrical ap-
pliances. Therefore, never allow children in
the vicinity of the designer system without
supervision.
To protect yourself against laser radiation:
Note: The CD player of this device is a
„Class 1 Product“ and marked accordingly
with an adhesive label on the housing.
· Never open the device! Do not try to repair the
device on your own. Risk of injury from invis-
ible laser radiation on the inside!
· Do not expose yourself to laser radiation.
To avoid the risk of fire:
· Do not expose this device to extreme tem-
peratures as heat pent up on the inside of the
equipment may lead to defects or a fire of the
system.
Therefore:
- Avoid direct exposure to the sun and heat-
ing.
- Never cover the vents of the unit.
- Position the system so that there is an air

gap of 10 cm to the sides.
· Do not place the device in the immediate vi-
cinity of inflammable materials (e.g. curtains,
flammable fluids etc.).
How to act safely:
· Never use the device for a purpose other than
intended.
· If the device is taken from the cold into the
warm (e.g. after transport) condensation may
build up on the inside. Wait for 2 hours before
switching on the device to protect it against
damage.
· Never operate the device without supervision.
· During a storm, always disconnect the mains
cord from the socket and remove the antenna
connection. In the event of a storm devices
connected to the grid may be damaged.
· Disconnect the system from the power supply
and remove the batteries from the remote
control if it is not used for a longer period of
time.
· Disconnect the plug from the socket to
completely separate the device from power
supply. Always hold the plug, never the cord.
· Protect the mains cord against hot surfaces
or other damage and ensure that it is not
pinched.
· Do not rest objects filled with liquid on top of
the device.
Note: This device is equipped with non-skid
rubber feet. Since ground surfaces are made
of different materials and treated with different
agents it can not be completely excluded that
some of these substances contain ingredients
which may harm and soften the rubber feet. If
necessary, place a non-skid mat underneath the
system‘s feet.
Copyright
When recording CDs, cassettes or radio broad-
castings please observe the national copyright
regulations of the country where the system is
being used.
Operation
General
Setting up and connection
Please observe these instructions before using
the designer system for the first time and only
plug the mains cord into the socket at the end.
1. Carefully take the designer system and the
loudspeakers from the box.
2. Select a suitable place for your designer
system. It should be:
· horizontal
· dry and dust-free
· not in the immediate vicinity of radiators or
exposed to direct sunlight.
3. Important: Remove all transport contrivances
/ tape attached to the CD and cassette tray!
Open the CD tray Q by pulling the top edge
and remove the red transport contrivance
(then close the CD tray again).
4. Connect the two loudspeakers.
The loudspeaker connections G are marked
accordingly (SPEAKER OUT, L=LEFT /
R=RIGHT).
How to set up the loudspeakers:
- Position loudspeakers preferably at eye-
level.
- Do not cover loudspeakers with curtains or
objects.

- Position loudspeakers as such on the shelf
that the front edge stands flush with the
edge of the shelf.
- To avoid booming, place a rubber mat under
the loudspeakers.
5. Use the cinch connections AUX IN H to con-
nect an external unit (e.g. turntable1).
6. For FM radio reception connect a 75 Ohm
antenna (house antenna, cable connection;
only possible for the following models: Ger-
many, Netherlands, Austria, Finland, Sweden,
Norway) to the antenna connection ANT K. If
this is not available then attach the supplied
longwire antenna to the centre contact of the
antenna connection. The antenna for AM con-
nection is already built into the unit.
7. Connect the plug into a 230 V outlet.
8. Insert suitable batteries (not included in the
delivery) into the remote control (2x AAA LR03
1.5 V):
- Open the cover to the rear of the remote
control.
- Insert the batteries. Observe the correct
polarity (see indication to the bottom of the
battery compartment).

Cleaning the housing
· Disconnect the plug before cleaning the hous-
ing!
· Prevent liquids from accessing the inside of
the device.
· To clean the housing use a soft cloth. Never
use benzine, solvents or cleaning agents
which harm plastic!
Cleaning the sound heads
· Regularly remove dust and cassette residues
from the sound heads. Contamination of the
sound heads reduces the sound quality of the
recording.
· To clean the sound heads use a conventional
cleaning tape.
