Construction:
Overall Measured Length: 419 including 14 pulpit
RCD Status: It is our understanding that the yacht is compliant with the essential safety requirements of Directive
94/25EC (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A “Ocean”.
Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:
Hull as well as deck are in hand laid E-glass reinforced on special high stress areas with Triaxial fibre glass in
connection with a sandwich laminate using hard compressed Divinycell 20 mm as core material. Solid
laminated around the keel reinforcement girder system, the engine install, the propeller, the rudder bearings
as well as in connection with all through hull fittings.
Hull surface outside is made of white gelcoat with 3 blue waterlines & sheer line moulded into the freeboard.
Deck reinforced around and under all deck hard ware fittings with marine plywood instead of the hard
compressed Divinycell foam in a thickness of 15 - 20 mm.
Hull epoxy treated from new.
Surface of deck outside is white gelcoat with teak in the cockpit floor and cockpit coamings. Area around
cabin windows is blue.
Teak cockpit seating, cockpit sole and bathing platform
Hull and deck are glued together with a special polyester resin and are bolted together for each 100 mm with
a 8 mm s/s screw with washer and nut. The toerail is black anodised aluminium.
The floor construction is a heavy welded bottom frame with keel floors, mast floors, lifting strap securing lugs
made of TBS steel sections, longitudinally connected with same material. The floor construction is heat
galvanised and glassed into solid laminate.
Main structural bulkheads are of marine plywood - 24 12 mm securely bonded to the hull and deck.
Keel & Rudder:
The keel is of antimony hardened lead with a cast iron top, therefore benefiting from a very low centre of
weight. The keel is fixed with s/s bolts. The surface of the keel is protected with one layer of GRP and filler.
Hull-keel joint refaired September 2012
The rudder blade is laminated in Triaxial fibre glass. The rudder stock is of solid aluminium tapered at both
ends for strength and weight saving. The upper rudder bearing is roller bearing for minimum resistance.
Rudder tube gasket replaced - September 2012
Machinery:
Engine & Gearboxes:
Yanmar 3JH3E 3-cylinder marine diesel engine producing approx 40hp
Freshwater cooling via raw water inlet and heat-exchanger

Broker’s Comments:
ALEXINA is a very nicely fitted-out and well presented example of the X-412 MKII Modern. Very easy to sail thanks to
her Harken soft-furling no.3 jib, yet boasting fantastic performance in both light and heavier airs, ALEXINA is ideal for
the family sailor (as she has been used for the last 6yrs) or club-racer that likes to get from A-B quicker than the rest.
Typically Danish in her build construction, she will also stand the test of time.
Note: Having benefitted from a full pre-purchase condition survey in September 2012 which concluded that she was
in ‘well above average condition’, this report can be re-assigned to her next owner free of charge, thereby offering
a significant saving in purchase costs and time logistics. A full copy of this report is available on request.
Yachting Monthly Test Review:
ALEXINA herself was tested by Dick Durham as part of Yachting Monthly’s ‘100 point boat test’ feature. She came out
with one of the highest overall test scores (91 out of 100) of any yacht to be tested. The full report was printed in the
October 2010 issue of Yachting Monthly and a copy of this report is available on request. The conclusions were as
follows:-
“ALEXINA is a wolf in wolf’s clothing. From her rakish bow to the magnificent sheerline aft, from her tall rig to her low
aspect coachroof, she is a thoroughbred sailing machine.
PERFORMANCE 10/10
She’s a slippery boat and can be thrown around any which way with ease. When the going gets tough a boat with a
full long keel will keep her canvas on longer than the X-412, but that said, the longkeeler will struggle to out-perform
this boat in a breeze.
AT THE HELM 10/10
Her low profile coachroof gives unobstructed views forward and her 150cm diameter wheel is fingertip responsive.
She also has an emergency tiller, which can be mounted on top of the rudder bearing.
DECK LAYOUT 10/10
Her clean decks offer welcome space for crew working in heavy weather. All halyards are led to the cockpit. Her large
wheel while designed for race tweaking is very comfortable while cruising too.
SAILPLAN 8/10
Her lofty masthead rig is a big sailplan to handle. I was out of breath sheeting in the monster genoa even with
generous Harken self-tailers. For short-handed sailing she’s not the ideal boat and husband and wife teams will need
to shorten sail early to keep on top of things (note. ALEXINA now benefits from the Harken deck soft-furler which
allows for the No.3 jib to kept aloft aft of the forestay and furled as per the genoa) .
DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION 10/10
She’s built like a battleship and will take any amount of punishment. Her shallow forefoot gives her great
manoeuvrability, while the ample rocker prevents any wandering to leeward on the wind.
MAINTENANCE 10/10
The sail drive is accessed via panels in the aft cabins and at the companionway steps, where you find the drive belt
and all filters. There is also good access to beneath the engine sump. Access to the chainplates is via the forward
cabin and the saloon.
CHART TABLE 9/10
The X-412’s chart table is a cosy fit for the average sized fellow and all instrumentation has been shoe-horned in
neatly. There is ample stowage room for all the paraphernalia

Page 11
GALLEY 8/10
With the galley located amidships, the motion is steadier for cooking underway. The two-burner stove with oven,
double stainless steel sinks, plus top loading fridge all add to the high score.
HEADS - 6/10
The forward head is roomy and well thought-out, with grabrails…
LIVING BELOW 10/10
Accommodation below is a relaxing vista of soft curves in polished teak and veneers. The grain of her joinery runs in
perpendicular lines to complement the cherry and oak layout of her saloon sole.
TOTAL SCORE 91/100
Lean and hungry-looking she may be, but there is nothing wanting in her performance, below decks living, or
construction. The spade rudder may put some buyers off, but it has a minimal keel skeg and is so well built it is
unlikely to be a safety issue. Rob cruises her happily with wife Jo and their four-month-old baby Isabella. She’s a
beautiful boat and will inspire, but she’s not for the faint-hearted.
X-Yachts Company profile:
In 1979, one of today’s most successful and quality orientated production yards was established in Denmark. During
the 1980’s, X-Yachts designed, and built, winning IOR yachts for World Class Racing. Their success with this market
attracted the attention of the cruising market, which was now looking for fast, quality, and comfortable sailing yachts.
There appeared nothing more obvious, but to use their boat building experience from the fast racers, and combine
this with building Performance Cruising yachts.
Throughout the 1990’s, X-Yachts’ range of “Performance Cruisers” was born. The X-412 was the first model in the
new line, and was followed by the X-382, X-442, X-362, X-302, X-332, X-612, X-482 and finally in 1999 the X-562.
Many of these models have benefited from evolution over their production life, with updates on styling and interior
layouts, but most significantly, the application of new keel and rudder profiles, in their quest to be progressive. They
achieve this edge with their in-house “Research and Development”, where they discover how to improve and refine
their designs, ensuring X-YACHTS’ position as market leaders.
