Getting started
1. Place the machine on a at sur-
face and ll the tank with cold wa-
ter. (The machine must not be used
with empty tank!) Plug the power
cord into the mains and press the
ON button.
4. Making an espresso: The machine
is ready to use when the Ready indi-
cator light is steady. Then follow the
instructions in step 5-7.
2. When starting the machine for
the rst time, rst place a con-
tainer under the steam nozzle. Wait
until the Ready indicator light is
steady. Turn the selector dial to
to rinse out the steam nozzle. If the
machine is not turned o manually,
the Safety Auto-O function turns it
o after 30 minutes.
3. Then place a bowl on the drip
grid. Wait until the Ready indicator
light is steady. Without inserting
the lter holder, turn selector dial
to
. Let a full tank of water pass
through the machine to rinse out
the heating system.
5. Fold back the nger protector
and put the lter in the lter
holder. Fill the lter with ground
coee.Usethetamperontheother
side of the spoon to press ground
coee lightly.
6. Insert the lter holder into posi-
tion as shown. Turn the handle
counterclockwise to tighten its
position, see image. Please note
that to much force will shorten the
components lifespan. When the
heating is nished turn the selector
dial to
. Espressobeginstoow
through the coee outlet – turn the
selector dial to
when you have
reached a desired amount.
20
1. Steam can be used to froth milk or
to heat liquids. Wait until the Ready
indicator light is steady. Immerse
the steam nozzle in a heatproof con-
tainer with milk.
2. Start the steam by turning the se-
lector dial to
. Move the container
in circular movements, the nozzle
should not touch the bottom. To
stop the steam, turn the selector dial
to
when you have reached the
desired amount of froth.

Additional features
7. After brewing, remove the lter
holder. Twist it to the left and take it
out of the retainer. Fold nger pro-
tector forwards and remove used
coee grounds from the lter. Then
take it out of the holder and clean it
with water. Dry with a cloth before
putting it back into the lter box.
3. Place a bowl under the steam
nozzle and turn the selector dial
back to
for a few seconds. This
will remove any residue of hot
water/milk from the steam nozzle.
Caution: the steam pipe is hot!
Allow to cool down, then clean the
steam pipe with a cloth.
5. For hot water, place a cup under
the steam nozzle and turn the se-
lector dial to
. Hot water comes
out of the nozzle. Turn the dial back
to
to stop the water.
4. Preparing Cappuccino: Froth the
milk as described in previous steps
1-2 and pour it onto the previously
prepared Espresso.

1. Turn the machine o and let it
cool down. Wipe all outer surfaces
with a damp cloth. Clean clogged
holes in the lter and lter holder
with a pin or small brush.
2. When lled, the drip tray must
be emptied. Lift out the drip grid,
empty, rinse and dry the grid and
tray. For hygienic reasons we rec-
ommend to do this regularly.
3. Loosen the steam nozzle and
wash it under running water. Clean
the small pipe with a cloth. Lift out
the water tank and rinse it under
running water.
Cleaning and care
1. Decalcifying is recommended
regularly, depending on water hard-
ness. Remove the brewing head
(keep components together) with
a coin before lling the tank with
water and decalcifyer according to
product instructions.
2. Switch the machine on and let it
heat up. Place the lter holder in
position, without any lter. Place a
bowl on the drip grid. Turn the se-
lector dial to
and let 1/4 of the
solution pass through. Turn the ma-
chine o and wait for 10 minutes.
3. Turn the selector dial to
and
lettheremainingsolutionow
through the steam nozzle. Fill the
water tank with fresh water and run
the machine until the tank is empty.
Repeat twice, with fresh water. Re-
install components and x lter
properly.
