need to be cycling when you connect the brake because this will put tension on the brake which
makes the data transfer possible.

The Bushido needs you to input some personal data that will be used to calculate power output and
also save your score. You will enter: user name, weight including the bike, sex, date of birth and

Brake › Calibration
The precision of the brake’s power display depends on a number of things like how tight the tire is
pressed against the roll, tire pressure, changing magnetic forces and temperature. In order to
guarantee precise measuring of power you have to CALIBRATE the wireless brake. Follow the
instructions on the screen.
Brake › Connecting / Disconnecting
Here you connect and disconnect the wireless ANT Bushido brake to the handlebar computer. Check
whether the serial number that is being displayed, is the same as the serial number on the Bushido
brake’s sticker.
Brake › Scale factor
You use scale factor to correct the Bushido’s power display when it differs from that of an external
power meter. Settings between 80 and 120% are possible.
Display › Contrast
If you cannot read the display clearly, you may adapt its focus through CONTRAST by using Arrow up
and Arrow down.
Display › Backlight
Bushido is equipped with Backlight. You may choose between ON and AUTO, in case of the latter
choice the backlight will automatically shut itself off after 15 seconds. When you pres any button the
display will come back again. Through INTENSITY you may adjust the backlight’s luminosity. The
lower the number, the less energy Bushido is using.

Zooming
Use Arrow right in the TRAINING DETAILED screen to zoom in on your illustration for five seconds so
you can see which routes are next.
Left and right balance
You will see a horizontal bar in the bottom part of the screen. This bar shows the difference in power
supplied by the left and right leg. The smaller this difference is, the smaller the light middle area will
be. If the middle area is larger, it is an indication that your pedal stroke is not ‘round’.
Taking a break from riding
If you stop riding before you have arrived at the finish line you will see PAUSE. All of the user’s data,
as well as his or her opponent’s data, will be put on hold. When you start riding again the computer
will calculate everything based on this data.
Functions during training
Route Mode
If you wish to adjust the route setting of a program while you are riding you can use Arrow up or
Arrow down to do so. Ten seconds after having adjusted the setting it will be automatically implemen-
ted. Save the new program under a new name when you finish. If you alter the setting during your
workout the opponent will be deleted.
Error reports while riding
Go to www.tacx.com and you will find Bushido’s FAQ’s under SERVICE. This is where you will find up
to date explanations on what to do if an error code appears on your screen.
VIEW LAST SCORES
Through MENU VIEW LAST SCORES you may consult the performances of your last training sessions
on screen. Use Arrow up or Arrow down to select the training that you want to take a look at. Use
Arrow right to open the complete training data. The Bushido computer has a lot of information stored
in its memory. You can only consult the data on a PC if you are using the Tacx Trainer software from
the T1990 Upgrade PC Bushido, which is not a standard accessory.
