Solutions for Common Questions & Safety Information
I’m having trouble finding lighter gel mentioned in the instructions.
Sterno and other companies make a lighter gel product that works well for this application.
Search “sterno lighter gel” at online retailers or check with local retailers where you buy your
charcoal.
You may also opt to use charcoal that contains a small amount of lighter fluid within it. This type
of application would produce more smoke than doing it as recommended in the instructions, so
be sure you are outdoors and aware of the downsides.
Can I use matches?
We recommend a click lighter, but very long matches can also be used. Small matches should not
be used as there is too much risk in burning yourself.
Can I use presoaked charcoal or charcoal with lighter fluid?
We highly recommend the gel as it produces the least smoke and gas smell. You can use charcoal
with lighter fluid or presoaked with lighter fluid, but use caution. By using charcoal with lighter
fluid or presoaked with lighter fluid, you are creating more smoke and a gas smell that will linger
with the food. Try and avoid the presoaked kind as it contains excessive amounts of lighter fluid.
By leveraging the fan and a little fluid, you can make it work. Always use Grillerette Pro outdoors.
I can’t hear the fan.
The fan is quiet and not very audible nor forceful, but if the light is on, then the unit is working.
The max setting may make the grill too hot for the food you are cooking, so we advise you to
control the temperature of the grill using the fan control.
Please also check that the batteries are new and they are inserted as displayed on the cartridge.
The charcoal is not lighting.
Just like with any charcoal grill, it takes some patience! Be sure you are protected from the wind,
and make sure the charcoal briquettes on the bottom of the cannister are lit first, as the flames
and heat will travel up to light the top pieces. Once lit, the fan will keep the charcoal going!
How do I clean it?
We recommend just wiping off the grease tray and the griddle after use. Do not use the
dishwasher or soap. Do not use a wire brush. Wiping off is usually all you need. It's a grill and not
supposed to get fully clean - residue enhances flavor. When 100% cool, dump the charcoal. When
all items are cool, place back in bag.
Is there a video on assembly or use?
