Connecting Power
Mains Lead
This boombox uses a 13A, 2 pin mains power lead (supplied). Plug
the mains lead into a suitable mains socket and connect the lead to
the power input on the back of the boombox.
Batteries
This boombox uses 4 x 1.5V ‘D’ cell type batteries (not supplied). Do
not keep batteries in the boombox for long term storage.
The boombox will pull a small charge from the batteries while they
are left in even if the unit is not being actively used.
To install the batteries push the cover release tab down and pull the
cover away from the boombox. Please make sure you match the
polarity orientation when inserting the batteries. This is marked
inside the battery bay in the moulding.

On/Off
Turning The Boombox On/Off
Once the boombox has power either supplied by the mains or
batteries, the boombox can be turned on or off via the power switch
located on the back of the boombox.
Please Note: There is a small draw on batteries is they are left in.
It is recommended you removed the batteries for long term storage.
Modes
The boombox has 3 function modes available. These are Radio, Tape
and MP3/Bluetooth.
Tape
To select the tape function move the function switch to ‘TAPE’.
The tape deck is ready to be used.
Radio
To select the radio function move the function switch to ‘RADIO’.
The radio will play through the speakers.
MP3
To select the bluetooth/music function move the function switch to
‘MP3 ’. The boombox will be ready to play mp3’s from an
SD/MMC card, a USB stick or from a bluetooth source.

Radio Mode
Using The Radio
The radio is able to receive FM, AM and SW band radio signals.
The ‘BAND’ selector switch will allow you to switch between the
following:
SW - 8.0MHz - 16.0MHz (Short Wave)
AM - 530KHz - 1600KHz (Amplitude Modulation)
FM - 87MHz - 108MHz (Frequency Modulation)
Tuning The Radio
Fully extend the telescopic aerial carefully and make sure the
‘FUNCTION’ switch is in the ‘RADIO’ position before trying to tune
the radio in to an available station. The radio uses an analogue tuner.
Turn the ‘Tuning’ dial in either direction in order to search through the
frequencies until you nd a preferred station.
Please Note: As this is an analogue adjustment there is no preset function
available to store a station.

Tape Mode
Using A Cassette
To use a cassette move the ‘FUNCTION’ switch to ‘TAPE’. Press the
‘STOP/EJ.’ button on the cassette controls to open the cassette
cradle and insert the cassette facing downwards exposing the
cassette ribbon to the top and that your chosen side letter is
facing outwards.
Once the cassette has been seated in the cradle in the correct
orientation, close the cradle shut. Press the ‘PLAY’ button to begin
the tape.
Please Note: If the cassette is playing from the beginning please wait a moment
for the playback to begin.

Tape Mode
Cassette Tape Deck Controls
PAUSE Pause the cassette tape while playing or recording.
STOP/EJ. Stops the current action / Eject the cassette tape.
F. F. Fast Forwards the inserted cassette tape.
REW. Rewinds the inserted cassette tape.
PLAY Plays the inserted cassette tape.
REC. Records on the inserted cassette tape.
Setting Up To Record
You are able to record on to a cassette tape from all functions,
however you will need to prepare the cassette before recording.

Time
Before recording check the total play time required. If the cassette
tape states ‘90’ it is a total of 90 minutes, but only 45 minutes per
side. Next make sure the write protections tabs are intact.
If they are not there then use a little sticky tape and place over each
of the holes where the tabs would be. Rewind the tape fully and
eject it. Use a hexagon sided pen or pencil to wind the tape
forwards until the joining tab is in the middle of the felt then insert
the cassette tape in to the tape deck.

Tape Mode
Recording From The Radio
Once the cassette tape is ready and inserted you will need to setup
the boombox. Make sure the function switch is set to ‘RADIO’ and
fully extend the telescopic aerial. Tune the radio into the station you
want to record and make sure the signal is as clear as you can get it.
When you are ready press ‘PLAY’ and ‘REC.’ together.
When you are ready to stop recording press ‘STOP/EJ.’ to stop the
cassette tape or leave it to run out of tape on the current side.
Live Recording
Once the cassette tape is ready and inserted you will need to setup
the boombox. Make sure the function switch is set to ‘TAPE’.
In this mode the microphone will record any sound that it picks up.
When you are ready press ‘PLAY’ and ‘REC.’ together.
When you are ready to stop recording press ‘STOP/EJ.’ to stop the
cassette tape or leave it to run out of tape on the current side.
Recording From SD/MMC/USB Source
Once the cassette tape is ready and inserted you will need to setup
the boombox. Make sure the function switch is set to ‘MP3 ’.
In this mode you will be able to record from the SD/MMC or USB
port. Insert a compatible SD/MMC card or USB stick with your MP3
format tracks on. As the tracks start automatically you will need to
pause the required track. When you are ready press ‘PLAY’ and
‘REC.’ together on the cassette tape controls, then press play on the
digital controls. When you are ready to stop recording press
‘STOP/EJ.’ to stop the cassette tape or leave it to run out of tape on
the current side.

Tape Mode
Recording From A Bluetooth Source
Once the cassette tape is ready and inserted you will need to setup
the boombox. Make sure the function switch is set to ‘MP3 ’.
In this mode you will be able to record from a bluetooth connected
device like a smart phone or tablet.
Pair the device to the boombox (see page 14 for instructions). Cue
up the track you wish to record and when you are ready press ‘PLAY’
and ‘REC.’ together on the cassette tape controls, then press play
on the digital controls or device.
When you are ready to stop recording press ‘STOP/EJ.’ to stop the
cassette tape or leave it to run out of tape on the current side.
Write Protection
After recording, you can break the write protection tabs or remove
the sticky tape used to cover the holes. This will prevent you from
accidently recording over a cassette tape you want to save.

MP3 Mode
When the boombox has been put into MP3 mode via the
‘FUNCTION’ switch, the unit is automatically in bluetooth mode if the
USB and SD/MMC slots are empty. If there is a USB drive or
SD/MMC card inserted then the boombox with automatically start to
play back.
Pairing The Bluetooth
The boombox is automatically in bluetooth pairing mode. This is
conrmed by the LED light ashing blue and red. Turn on the
bluetooth of the device that you want to pair with boombox and
search for ‘REKA AUDIO’. Select ‘REKA AUDIO’ from the available
device list and the bluetooth will automatically nish the pairing
procedure. If the pairing has been successful the LED will turn to a
solid blue light. Always make sure the paired device’s volume is set
to maximum before playing tracks via bluetooth.
Please Note: You cannot pair bluetooth headphones, speakers and other receiv-
ing bluetooth type devices to this boombox.
Bluetooth Controls
As well as being able to control the bluetooth from your connected
device you also have limited control from the digital controls.
You can skip to the previous track with the ‘PREV.’ button, pause
or continue playing the current track with the ‘PLAY PAUSE’ button
(the LED will ash blue to indicate playing) and skip forward a track
with the ‘NEXT’ button. You can fast forward a track by pressing and
holding the ‘NEXT’ button. You can also rewind a track by pressing
and holding the ‘PREV.’ button.

Preparing A USB/SD/MMC
The boombox will play MP3 and WAV audio formats. These les
must be DRM (Digital Rights Management) free. Transfer the tracks
to either a USB drive or an SD card that is no bigger than 32GB
that has been formatted to the FAT32 le system. This can be done
through a PC or laptop.
USB/SD/MMC Autoplay
If there is a storage device already connected, the boombox will
automatically start playing from the start when it is turned on if it is
already in MP3 mode. The same will happen when the mode has
been changed to MP3 .
USB/SD/MMC Controls
You can skip to the previous track with the ‘PREV.’ button, pause
or continue playing the current track with the ‘PLAY PAUSE’ button
(the LED will ash blue to indicate playing) and skip forward a track
with the ‘NEXT’ button. You can fast forward a track by pressing and
holding the ‘NEXT’ button. You can also rewind a track by pressing

EQ Controls
Using The Equalizer
This boombox has a separate treble and bass control feature. Turn
either dial clockwise or anti clockwise to increase or decrease the
audio bias of the treble and bass.
The arrows on the each dial will indicate the current level in use.
