DESCRIPTION
This appliance has been designed to meet your require-
ments for freezing-in fresh and cooked food and for storing
frozen food.
These instructions will help you to get to know your new
freezer and to obtain the best performance from it.
INSTALLATION
− Check that the freezer is not damaged. You must report
any damage to your retailer within 24 hours of receipt
(Fig. ).
− Do not install your freezer near sources of heat, in res-
tricted, damp or badly ventilated space.
− Do not install your freezer adjacent to other appliances.
− The correct distance between the rear wall and the ap-
pliance
is ensured by the spacer, fitted on the lid hinge
(Fig. 2).
− Leave a 6 cm space between the side grid and the wall.
− Remove the side transit brackets placed between frame
and lid (Fig. 3).
− Leave the appliance to stand for one hour before con-
necting it to the electricity supply. In the meantime, clean the
inside (see chapter “Defrosting and Maintenance”).
LID SEAL:
Because the lid seal if very effective, it is not always possible
to open the lid immediately after closing it.
If this happens, wait a few minutes and then try again.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
Check that the voltage indicated on the rating plate corres-
ponds to the voltage in your home (Fig. 4-5-6).
The earthing of this appliance is compulsory by law.
The Manufacturer will accept no liability for damage to per-
sons or objects arising from the non-observance of this
requirement. If the appliance is f itted with an interior lamp, it
will light up when the lid is opened.
OPERATION
Connect the appliance to the mains.
− The green indicator
will light up, indicating that the
appliance is connected to the mains.
− The red pilot lamp
will glow, if fitted.
It will go off when the correct storage temperature is rea-
ched.
The red pilot lamp will also light up when the freezer lid has
been left open for a long time or when the freezer has been
loaded with fresh foods to be frozen.
THERMOSTAT
(Fig. 7)
The thermostat, placed on the control panel, automatically
regulates the temperature of the freezer and allows the
choice of the temperature best suited to your requirements
from position 1 (less cold) to position 3 (colder). To adjust
the thermostat use a coin.
As internal temperatures are affected by the location of the
appliance, the ambient temperature and the f requency of
the lid opening, we suggest you the following:
− Initially set the thermostat knob to position between 2
and 3 and then reposition it according to your requirements.
− In position
the compressor always runs.
Attention
For very high ambient temperatures, adjust the thermostat to
warmer positions (towards 1). For very low ambient tempera-
tures, adjust the thermostat to colder positions (towards
).
STORAGE OF FOODS
− Group products according to categories, storing above
foodwhichhavetobeusedfirst.
− Do not exceed the load line (if fitted) so as to leave
enough air flow between the lid and the packages.
USEFUL HINTS - BUYING AND STORING
COMMERCIALLY PRE-PACKAGED FROZEN FOOD
Make sure that wrapper or packet is intact as the food may
deteriorate. If a package bulges or sags or has spots of
moisture on it, it may not have been kept cold enough and
the contents may have lost their original quality.
When buying frozen food, it is suggested to use thermical
bags or cold boxes.
Contrarily, they should be the last purchases made and
should be well wrapped in newspaper.
When home, storethem in the freezer with the least possible
delay. Please note that any food, even if partially thawed
cannot be frozen but must be eaten within 24 hours. Any ap-
preciable rise in temperature of commercially pre-packaged
frozen food after purchase may shorten the storage life indi-
cated on the package.

STORAGE TIME
Commercially pre-packaged frozen food:
Follow the instructions of the food packet. I f no indication is
given, do not store more than 3 months.
Fresh frozen food:
Please refer to the calendar (Fig. 8).
FREEZING-IN (Fig. 9-0-)
− Check that the inner liner walls are not covered with a
thick layer of frost.
− 6 hours before loading fresh food to be frozen, turn the
thermostat knob
to the position.
− Prepare and wrap food into adequate packings such as
aluminium foils, plastic sheetings, plastic containers, etc.
− Label each packet and note the contents and the freez-
ing-in date.
− Store the packets so that as far as possible part of each
pack touches a refrigerated wall.
− Place fresh food in the freezer in such a way that they do
not come in contact with already frozen food.
− If you need to freeze-in the maximum quantity allowed (or
more than 10 kg) at one time, p lace part of the packets
against the refrigerated walls of the small compartment and
part against the refrigerated walls of the large compartment.
− Close the lid and leave the appliance in the fast freeze
position for 24 hours.
− Turn the thermostat knob to its normal operation setting.
Important
− Do not load warm food into your freezer.
− Do not store sealed bottles of fizzy drinks into the freezer
as the may explode.
DEFROSTING AND MAINTENANCE
Because the lid is not opened frequently and the food is sto-
red in sealed packs, the rate of frost build-up is very slow.
Frost reduces the efficiency of the freezer, so we suggest
you defrost when it is 3 - 4 mm thick approx.
To defrost, proceed as follows:
− 24 h prior to defrosting, switch on the fast freeze facility
so that food will be at a very low temperature when you re-
move it from the freezer.
After the aforesaid time:
− Disconnect the appliance from the mains.
− Remove the packets, wrap them in several layers of
newspaper and p lace them in the low temperature compart-
ment of your refrigerator.
Alternatively, place them in a carboard box in a cold place.
− Remove the plug from the hole at t he bottom of the liner
using the plastic scraper, if necessary, (Fig. 4) and place
the separator under the cabinet (Fig. 3) to collect
the de-
frost water, after having positioned the exterior plug
(Fig. 2).
− Leave the lid open.

For models equipped with rear drain, proceed as follows:
A) Remove the plug/drain
(Fig. 5) situated on the bot-
tom of the rear wall.
B) Fit the plug/drain as indicated in
(Fig. 6) to drain the
defrost water.
C) Place a bin under the drain (Fig. 6) to collect the drain
water.
− When the ice starts to loosen, scrape the inner walls with
the plastic scraper (if provided) to accelerate defrosting
(Fig. 7). Never use hot water, electric heaters, sharp instru-
ments or other devices for this operation, as your freezer
could be damaged.
− Clean the liner with a sponge dampened in a solution of
bicarbonate of soda and lukewarm water.
Never use abrasives, detergents or soaps.
− Dry the liner carefully (Fig. 8).
− Take this opportunity to clean the condenser (black
grill) and the motor ventilation grille (Fig. 9).
− Reposition the two plugs to avoid frost formation inside
the liner.
− Reconnect the appliance to the mains, load the food and
leave it in the fast freeze position 24 hours approx.
MAINTENANCE
The freezer requires little maintenance.
− Cleaning the liner, when defrosting.
− Cleaning the outside with a soft damp cloth.
− Cleaning the motor ventilation grille and the condenser
with a vacuum cleaner or a with a soft brush.
HOLIDAYS (Fig. 20)
− If you plan to be away for a short time, it is best to leave
the freezer switched on.
− If you are going away for a long time and want to switch
off the freezer, first use up all the food.
Disconnect the electricity supply, defrost and clean the in-
side and leave the lid open to prevent the appliance from
smelling musty.
SERVICE
The incorrect operation of the appliance is not always due to a
fault but it may also depend on bad installation or usage. To
prevent unnecessary service calls for which you will be char-
ged, we suggest you consult t his t rouble shooting guide.
Red light on continuously, internal temperature too
high. Check that:
− The lid is properly closed.
− The freezer is not near a source of heat.
− There is a thick build-up of frost on the inner walls.
−
The condenser (black grill) or the vent ilat ion grille is clean.
− The ambient temperature is not below +15
o
C. If it is, turn
the thermostat control knob towards position 3.
The compressor functions continuously. Check that:
− The ambient temperature is not above +32
o
C.
− The lid is not being opened too frequently.
The green light goes out and the freezer does not work.
Check that:
− There is not a power failure.
− The plug is making good contact with the socket.
−
Any automatic circuit breakers have tripped or any fuses blown.
− The supply cable is broken.
The green light does not light up and the compressor is
working
− The lamp will have to be replaced.
The freezer is very noisy.
− Check that the freezer is not touching other furniture or
walls, which can cause vibration.
CONDENSATION FORMING
If your freezer is installed in a damp or badly ventilated
space (cellar, garage, etc.) it is normal that in given ambient
conditions (relative humidity higher than 85%) condensa-
tion will form on the walls or the appliance (in extreme cases,
condensation may look like water droplets).
The operation of the appliance will not be influenced by
such factors and we suggest the water droplets are remo-
ved with a soft cloth.
IMPORTANT - POWER FAILURE
If there is a power failure, try to find out how long it is likely to
last. If it is not expected to last more than 12 hours, leave the
food in the freezer and keep the lid shut.
If the failure lasts more than 12 hours and any food start to
thaw, you should try to use them up within 24 hours or to
cook and re-freeze them.
