DEAR CUSTOMER,

Please read this user guide carefully before using your dryer for the first time. The user guide

contains important information for your safety and for the use, installation and maintenance of

your appliance. Your dryer will thank you for taking the time to read it.

If you ever experience a fault with your dryer, please go to the section “Check the following

first”. You will often find you are able to resolve small faults yourself, avoiding unnecessary

service costs.

Keep the user guide in a safe place for future reference.

Pass the user guide on to future owners of the dryer.

ABOUT THE HEAT PUMP DRYER

This dryer with modern heat pump technology only requires a fraction of the energy used by

traditional household tumble dryers. To care for your laundry as gently as possible and to

enable low energy consumption, your laundry is dried at a low temperature, so your laundry

may be cooler to the touch than expected during and after the drying cycle. In addition, at the

beginning of the drying cycle the heat-up phase in heat pump dryers is longer than in

traditional tumble dryers. Therefore, no or only very little heat can be felt inside the machine

for the first 10-20 minutes. If possible, do not open the door during the drying cycle to test

how dry the laundry is. Otherwise, heat escapes from the drum and the drying time is also

increased.

Contrary to the exhaust air dryer, your heat pump dryer does not emit the moisture from your

laundry into the air as condensation. Heat pump dryers cool the air in a condenser which

condenses the moisture. The condensation is collected in the condensation tank or can be

pumped straight into the household drainage system. This means your heat pump dryer can

be used even in rooms without extensive ventilation.

INTRODUCTION AND QUICK DESCRIPTION OF THE

APPLIANCE

• Please make sure there are always two

people to carry the dryer.

• This dryer is designed to dry suitable

laundry in regular household volumes.

• To use the dryer, please refer to the

instructions in this User Guide and the

programme overview chart.

• Retain the User Guide and programme

overview chart for future use. If the dryer is

passed on to a third party please make

sure the User Guide and programme

overview chart accompany the appliance.

• The manufacturer does not accept

responsibility for damages to persons,

pets or belongings resulting from non-

compliance with the guidelines set out in

this User Guide.

1. Unpacking and checking the appliance

• When you unpack it, make sure that

there are no signs of damage on the

appliance. Do not connect the appliance

if there is any doubt. Contact customer

service or your local dealer instead.

• If the appliance has been standing in the

cold before delivery, let it stand at room

temperature for a few hours before using it.

2. Electrical connection

• According to the manufacturer’s

installation guide and general safety

guidelines, the electrical connection must

be carried out by specialist engineers only.

• The electrical connection must be set in

compliance with the local regulations.

• Refer to the rating plate on the dryer’s

door frame for specifications on

permissible operating voltage, capacity

and the required fusing.

• The dryer must be grounded in

accordance with the legal stipulations.

• Remove the plug form the mains before

carrying out any repair work on the

appliance.

• The power cable must always be

replaced by customer service personnel.

• When setting up the appliance, make

sure the mains plug, or an all-pole

isolator to disconnect the mains supply,

is accessible at all times.

3. Set up

• Do not set up the dryer in any room

subject to extreme conditions, such as

poor ventilation or temperatures under

5°C / over 35°C. If the dryer is used

under extreme conditions (ambient

temperature 5°C), this significantly

increases the drying time.

• Ensure that the heat pump dryer is installed

in a room with at least 20 m³ enclosed

space. If this should not be possible, ensure

that there is a min. 15 m³/h indoor ventilation

unit installed in the room.

• Smaller rooms such as storerooms,

bathrooms, toilet areas, showers, etc.

without ventilation are not suitable

locations for this dryer.

• Before you use the appliance for the first

time, ensure that the condensation tank

is fully inserted.

BEFORE USING YOUR APPLIANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME

• Before you use the appliance for the first

time, ensure that all hoses from the

drainage system are connected correctly

(as shown in the diagram below).

• If possible, install the hose so that the

condensation can flow into the

household drainage system. This means

you will not have to empty the

condensation tank after every load, as

the condensation can be led straight into

the drain. See also “Drainage system”.

• Do not install the dryer on a thick pile

carpet.

• The power cable should not be wedged

between the dryer and the wall.

• When setting up the appliance, make

sure the four feet are secure and stable

on the ground, adjusting the four feet to

stand the dryer so it is completely level.

Use a spirit level to ensure the unit is

level.

• If, for space reasons, the dryer can only

be placed directly adjacent to a gas or

coal stove, you must insert a heat

insulating plate (85 x 57 cm) between the

two appliances, which must be lined with

aluminium foil on the stove side.

• The dryer can be installed under a work

surface if there is sufficient ventilation

around it. Install a ventilation grate (min.

45 cm x 8 cm) at the back of the work

surface above the dryer.

4. Safety instructions

• Children must not play with the dryer.

• Please ensure that children and small pets

cannot climb into the drum.

• Do not leave packaging (plastic bags,

polystyrene, etc.) within reach of

children, as they are potential hazards.

• The appliance must not be operated by

people (including children) with impaired

physical, sensory or mental abilities and

lack of experience and knowledge,

unless under supervision or after a full

briefing by someone responsible for their

safety. Prevent children from playing with

the appliance.

5. Placing the dryer on top of a washing

machine

• The dryer models

ADORINA L (model number 936)

ADORINA S (model number 937)

ADORINA SL (model number 938)

can be mounted on top of a front-loading

washing machine. For this, the pillar kit

H2.0100 is required. Please ask customer

service for more information on this.

Please note the following precautions to

reduce the risk of fire in the dryer:

• Articles soiled with oil

can suddenly catch

fire if they are

subjected to sources

of heat such as they

are in a dryer. The

clothes heat up and

the oil reacts due to

the oxidation.

Oxidation produces

heat. If the heat

cannot escape, the

items can become so

hot that they catch

fire. Layering,

stacking or storing

oil-soiled clothing can

lead to a buildup of

heat, and therefore a

serious risk of

combustion.

• Do not dry unwashed

articles in the dryer.

• Wash laundry items

soiled with food oil or

treated with acetone,

alcohol, gasoline,

kerosene, stain

removers, turpentine

or wax removers, in

hot water with extra

detergent must

• Do not use

inflammable cleaning

agents.

• Do not use the dryer

if industrial chemicals

were used to clean it.

PRECAUTIONS AND GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

all the laundry and

spread it out to

ensure the heat

dissipates.

• The final phase of a

drying cycle runs

without heat (cooling

phase) in order to

cool the laundry down

at a temperature that

avoids harm.

• Clean the door filter

after each drying

cycle or when the

door filter indicator

lights up.

• Do not set up the

appliance behind a

lockable door, a

sliding door or a door

with a hinge opposite

the dryer, as it will

prevent the door from

opening fully.

• Please take care to ensure that no fluff

builds up around the dryer.

• The appliance must be maintained in

accordance with the instructions set out

under “Maintenance and cleaning”.

• The appliance must be installed according

to the instructions specified above.

• Under no circumstances should you

keep or use inflammable material in the

proximity of the dryer!

• Caution! The rear side can

become very hot!

• The dryer is intended for indoor use only.

• Do not use extension cords or multiple

plugs.

• Always switch the programme/time

selector switch to “0” after use to avoid

the dryer being turned on inadvertently.

• Before cleaning or maintenance, switch

the dryer off and remove the power supply

plug from the mains.

• Use a neutral cleaning agent and a damp

cloth to clean the outside of the dryer.

• Do not use abrasive agents or steel wool.

• Wipe off fluff from the door and door seal

with a damp cloth.

• If the mesh of the door filter have formed

a white lining, clean the filter with water

and a soft brush.

• As the door filter does not retain every

piece of debris, you will need to

occasionally clean the entire filter range

(including under the door filter) with a

brush, a damp cloth or a vacuum cleaner.

• Do not jam laundry items when closing

the door! It could damage the fabric!

• Starched laundry leaves a lining of starch

in the drum and does therefore not

belong in the dryer.

• If you exceed the filling volume indicated

in the programme chart, the laundry will

be creased.

• When using “conditioning sheets” a lining

can form at the door filter and block it.

We recommend not using tumble drying

sheets.

• To be eligible for warranty claims, the

filter material of the door filter and the

base filter must be cleaned after each

individual drying cycle. Rinse the foam

off the base filter under running water

after each cycle.

• Please make sure both filters and the foam

of the base filter are dry when you put them

back in place and before you start the next

drying cycle.

• Access to mains power points (e.g.

power sockets, wall switches, fuses) and

the water tap must be assured.

• Repairs, changes or alterations on or in the

appliance, and in particular to electrically

conducting components, must always be

performed by the manufacturer, or by the

manufacturer’s service personnel or by a

person with an equivalent level of

expertise. Unprofessional repair work can

lead to serious accidents, damage to the

appliance and equipment, and to

operational malfunctions. In the event of an

operational fault on the appliance, or of

repair work being required, please read the

instructions in the REPAIR SERVICE

chapter. If needed, please contact our

customer service department.

• Always use genuine spare parts.

• Every time you close the door on the

appliance, and before starting a

programme, always check to ensure that

there are no foreign bodies or pets inside

the laundry drum.

• Dryer additives (e.g. scented cloths) can

cause severe irritation to eyes, mouth and

throat, and can even lead to choking /

asphyxiation. Always store dryer additives

safely out of the reach of children.

• As soon as a malfunction is detected,

disconnect the appliance from its mains

power source.

• Never switch on the appliance without a

door filter, or with a damaged one. Fluff

could then build up and destroy the

appliance.

• Do not dry fabrics containing residues of

hair spray, hair gel, nail polish remover or

similar substances. Risk of gas buildup.

• Drying textiles with metal trimmings or

using “dryer balls” can wear out the

surface of the dryer drum.

• Packaging components, e.g. plastic foil

and polystyrene foam can be dangerous to

children. Risk of choking / asphyxiation.

Keep packaging components well away

from children.

• Never slam the door on this appliance.

• Before using the appliance for the first

time, leave it standing in its usual

position for about 2 hours.

• Failure to observe this requirement can

damage the appliance.

• For your information: You may be

surprised at the amount of fluff you find in

the door filter after drying. However, the

fluff is not the result of the drum taking its

toll on your laundry, but a normal sign of

wear. When you wear and when you wash

your laundry, fibres are rubbed away from

the fabric. The wind carries away this fluff

when the washing is dried on the line,

whereas in the dryer they collect in the

door filter. The amount of fluff resulting

from machine drying is actually only

approx. 0.03 g per kilogram of laundry.

• In compliance with the requirements of

European Directive 2002/96/EC on used

electrical and electronic appliances

(WEEE), this appliance is provided with a

marking.

• You make a positive contribution to the

protection of the environment and human

health if you take this appliance to a

dedicated waste collection facility. The

inappropriate disposal of this appliance

can have proportionately serious negative

consequences.

Packaging

• The packing material is 100% reusable

and therefore bears the recycling symbol.

• Disposing of packaging materials.

Dispose of the packaging material of

your dryer responsibly.

• All the packaging materials are eco-friendly

and can be deposited safely or burned in

the incineration plant.

• The plastics can be also reused:

• The outside covering and the bags on

the inside are made from polyethylene

(marking PE).

• The cushioning consists of foamed,

CFC-free polystyrene (marking EPS).

• The cardboard parts are made from

recycled paper and should also be

deposited in the recycling collection.

Disposing of your used appliance:

If you take your appliance out of operation,

please bring it to your nearest collection

point or to your specialist dealer.

Caution! When disposing of the dryer:

Pull out the power supply plug, destroy

the door lock, cut off the electrical cable

and remove the plug on the remaining

cable. This is to prevent children from

fatally trapping themselves inside.

Energy-saving tips

• The programme “Cotton cupboard-dry” is

suitable for drying normal wet cotton

textiles and is the most efficient

programme for cotton in terms of energy

consumption.

• Your dryer has been designed to save

energy. After the end of the programme,

the dryer will turn off after a short time. If

a programme is selected but not started,

the dryer will turn off after a few minutes.

To turn the dryer back on, turn the

programme selector to “Off” (“0”) and

then to the desired programme.

• Always dry a full load and match the

programme and drying time to the type of

laundry. See the programme chart for

details.

• Wherever possible use the maximum

permissible spinning speed of the washing

machine, as mechanical drainage needs

less energy. This will save you time and

energy in the drying process.

• Do not over-dry the laundry.

• Cleaning the door filter after every cycle.

• Always choose the right programme /

drying time to suit your laundry so as to

achieve the right level of drying.

• Only use the “Care” option for small loads.

• Dry iron and wardrobe-ready cotton

clothes together, as follows: Start with the

iron-ready setting, remove the laundry to

be ironed then use the wardrobe-ready

setting for the rest of the laundry.

• Turn the programme/time selector switch

to “0” after the drying cycle.

Before cleaning or carrying out repair work, switch the dryer off.

EMPTYING THE CONDENSATION TANK

After every drying operation, remove and empty the

condensation tank.

CLEANING THE DOOR FILTER

Clean the door filter after each drying cycle or when the

door filter indicator lights up. To do this, proceed as

follows:

A. Remove all laundry from the dryer drum before you

take the door filter out.

B. Take the door filter out of the dryer and open it

carefully.

C. Carefully remove the fluff from the door filter.

D. If the mesh of the filter is dirty and cannot be cleaned

by hand, it can be cleaned under running water with a

soft brush.

When the door filter is clean, place it back in the dryer.

Before the next drying cycle check that the door filter is

positioned correctly.

NOTE:

Please ensure that the door filter is correctly

positioned when loading and unloading the laundry drum.

CLEANING THE BASE FILTER

A. Open the base filter cap and put it to one side. Lift up

the filter grip and pull out the filter.

B. Open the filter by pulling on the tab.

C. Take the filter foam out of the filter.

D. Remove the fluff from the surface of the filter foam by

hand. Then rinse the filter foam under running water

to remove all the fluff.

E. Carefully remove the fluff by hand from both sides of

the filter. If there is a white substance in the filter

material that cannot be removed by hand, clean both

parts of the filter under running water, using a soft

brush if necessary.

F. Put the filter pad back in the smaller half of the filter.

The filter pad can also be used when wet; this does

not affect the drying cycle.

G. Make absolutely sure that when you put the filter parts

back together that the filter foam is not squashed in

between the two.

H. Clean the filter housing and the screen inside it with a

damp cloth or, carefully, do so with a vacuum cleaner.

I. Reinstall the screen back in the dryer, making sure

that the screen is pressed as far into the right side as

possible. Fold the filter grip completely down. Make

sure the filter grip engages firmly into the attachment

hooks on both sides.

J. Close the base filter cap.

NOTE: Do not wash the filter foam with laundry in the

washing machine.

Simple and practical:

So that the condensation water tank does not have to be emptied after each drying

load, you can direct the condensation from the dryer straight into the household

drainage system.

Lay down an absorbent cloth to prevent leakage.

A. Remove the plug from the hose in the upper rear part of the dryer.

B. Take the hose out of the rear protective cover.

C. Attach the hose to the drainage system.

The difference in height between the

floor on which the dryer stands and the

outflow connection to the drainage

system may not exceed 1 m.

Note: To prevent water from running back into

the appliance, the hose end must not be

submerged in the drained water. Lay the hose

so that it is not twisted or kinked.

USING THE APPLIANCE

For more information (including troubleshooting and maintenance) refer to the relevant

sections of the User Guide.

Sort your laundry as follows:

Fabric thickness: if the laundry load is larger than the dryer’s capacity, sort

the laundry by weight (e.g. separate towels and light undergarments).

Type of fabric: cotton (linen); synthetic textiles (easy-care).

Drying level: wardrobe-ready, iron-ready, etc.

Not suitable for tumble drying: wool, silk, nylon stockings, delicately

embroidered items, textiles with metal attachments.

Check that all zips are closed and all pockets are empty. Do not allow any

lighters into the laundry. Turn the laundry inside out.

Place the washing loosely in the drum for even drying. Close the door.

Turn the programme selection switch to the desired drying programme (see

the programme chart for more details).

Select any extra functions you want by pressing the relevant button. The

button lights up to confirm your selection. A fast flashing LED indicates that

you made an invalid selection (incompatible option). Deselect the extra

function by pressing the button again.

Start the drying programme by pressing the “Start” button.

The relevant indicator lights up.

If a programme is selected but not started, the dryer will turn off after a few

minutes. To turn the dryer back on, turn the programme selector to “Off” (“0”)

and then to the desired programme.

Changing the selected programme: if you change the programme during

the drying procedure, the dryer stops. The “Start” indicator flashes. To run a

new programme press the “Start” button again.

Interrupting a programme: to interrupt the drying cycle, press the “Start”

button and open the door. For safety reasons, the programme stops

automatically whenever the door is opened. To restart the drying cycle, close the

door and press the “Start” button again.

Caution: if you must stop the dryer drum before the end of the cycle,

immediately remove all the laundry and spread it out to ensure the heat

dissipates. The final phase of a drying cycle runs without heat (cooling

phase) in order to cool the laundry down at a temperature that avoids

creasing.

End: remove the laundry from the dryer. The drying cycle has finished, the

anti-creasing phase has been reached (in progress). After the end of the anti-

creasing phase, the dryer turns off after a short time to save energy. Set the

programme selector to “Off” (“0”).

Cleaning the door filter: open the door, pull the door filter up and open it. Remove fluff with a soft brush or by hand.

Close the door filter and push it back in completely (see the User Guide for more details).

Emptying the condensation tank: pull out the tank by the handle and empty it. Replace the condensation tank

once empty, pushing it all the way back in.

Please note: only use tumbler-compatible washing detergent accessories / plastic parts as appropriate. Thoroughly

rinse any laundry treated with stain remover with plenty of water before drying. Do not, under any circumstances, dry

items made from rubber or soiled with vegetable oil.

The manufacturer takes no responsibility for damage caused to your laundry by improper or incorrect care.

WHAT TO DO IF...

...first check the dryer yourself: In the event that your appliance stops working as it

should, please check the following points before you call customer service - see also the

relevant section of this User Guide.

The drying process is

• Was the original laundry load too wet (washing machine spinning

speed under 1,000 rpm)?

• Is the door filter dirty? (is the door filter indicator on?)

• Is the base filter dirty? (is the base filter indicator on?)

• Is the room temperature too high?

• Are the indicator lights “End” and “Anticrease” on? The drying process is

finished and you can remove the laundry.

• If the drying results are not what you expected, choose a programme

that dries more thoroughly or choose an extra function from the drying

settings (if available).

• Have you mixed light and heavy items of clothing? Have you mixed

different types of material? Sort the washing into light and heavy items

and restart the drying cycle.

• Has the laundry become entangled? Restart the drying cycle and use

the option “Reverse +”, if available.

• Is the base filter correctly inserted?

• Have you removed all the dust and fluff from the seals of the base

filter and door?

• Is the condensation tank correctly inserted?

• Is the direct water outlet pipe (if installed) laid straight?

• Is the dryer level?

HOW TO MAINTAIN AND CLEAN YOUR DRYER

Clean the door filter

after each drying cycle.

• Remove fluff with a soft brush or by hand.

• Close the door filter.

• Push the door filter all the way in.

Empty the condensation

tank after each drying

cycle.

• Pull on the handle to remove the condensation tank.

• Drain the condensation tank.

• Empty the condensation tank, reinsert it and push it all the way in.

Clean the base filter and

base housing after every

five drying cycles

• Rinse the filter and filter foam under running water.

• Remove all the fluff from the seals.

• Clean the base filter housing (for more details, see “Cleaning the base

filter”).

Programme selection switch

Turn the selection switch to select the

drying programme you want. The

“Start” indicator flashes.

“Start” button

Press to start the drying process. The

indicator lights up.

Door filter

The indicator lights up if the door filter

and housing need cleaning.

Clean the door filter after every

drying cycle.

Base filter

The indicator light comes on after every

five cycles if the base filter and its

housing need cleaning.

Whenever the indicator flashes, the base

filter is not inserted properly. Please

check to ensure that the base filter is fully

inserted and that the filter handle is in the

’fully down’ position.

“Cleaning the base filter” chapter in

the User Guide for more information

on this).

Condensation tank

The indicator light comes on if the

condensation tank is full and needs

emptying. The drying process is

interrupted automatically. Empty the

condensation tank and restart the

drying programme.

Empty the condensation tank after

each drying cycle.

Remaining time display

A drying time is displayed by default for

every selected drying programme. Once

the process has started the time display

is adjusted according to the volume, type

and wetness of the laundry.

The given drying time is a calculated

time which is updated in the course

of the drying programme.

The flashing strips indicate that the

system is making the calculations. The

remaining time is updated.

End

The drying programme is finished.

Remove the laundry from the dryer.

Overdrying protection

The indicator lights up when you

choose a moisture-controlled

programme to show that the overdrying

protection feature is activated.

Drying level

Use this option to set how dry you want

your laundry. Depending on the

programme you choose you can set

the drying level by pressing this button.

Press once to increase the drying level

Press twice to reduce the drying level

Press three times to reset the original

drying level.

You can change or deactivate this

option at any time, as described above.
