* In general, fine threads and needles are used for
sewing thin fabrics, and thicker threads and
needles are used for sewing heavy fabrics.
* Always test thread and needle size on a small
piece of fabric which will be used for actual
sewing.
* Use the same thread for needle and bobbin.
* When sewing stretch, very fine fabrics and
synthetics,use a BLUE TIPPED needle.
The blue tipped needle effectively prevents
skipped stitches.
Changing Needle
Raise the needle by turning the handwheel toward
you and lower the presser foot.
z Loosen the needle clamp screw by turning it
counterclockwise.
Remove the needle from the clamp.
x Insert the new needle into the clamp with the
flat side away from you.

The thread tension is adjusted depending on
the sewing materials, layers of fabric and

does not show on the right side (top side) of
the fabric, and the needle thread shows slightly
on the wrong side (bottomside) of the fabric.

Zigzag Stitching
Simple zigzag stitching is widely used for over-
casting, sewing on buttons, etc.
Twin Needle Hem
A twin needle hem is quick and easy. It is
especially useful for very stretchy fabrics. Be sure
to use a stretch twin needle for knit fabrics.

t Twin needle
Turn off the power switch and insert a twin needle.
Thread the machine in the same manner as for
single thread (see page 16), using both spool
pins. Pull one thread down behind each needle
bar thread guide.
Thread each needle from front to back.
Fold the hem up desired amount and topstitch
with the twin needle. Carefully trim away excess
fabric using sharp scissors. This is an excellent
hemming method for knit fabrics because the
bobbin thread zigzags, allowing the hem to stretch
with the fabric.
Remove twin needle. Set up machine for single
needle sewing.

This super stretch stitch is ideal for sewing
swimwear and stretch velour because it provides
the greatest amount of elasticity and strength.
Super stretch stitch will be done most successfully
when the right side stitches of zigzag fall slightly
off the edge of the fabric.
