This adapter kit is designed for DB retrofill air circuit breaker in DB switchgear. It allows existing switchgear door
Assembly adaptation with standard Emax 2 withdrawable air circuit breaker of the size indicated in Table A.
IMPORTANT !
Retrofitting allows an obsolete control and protection device to be replaced, but does not allow the ratings of the
original switchboard to be altered in any way.
The retrofitting kits are dimensioned and certified for the obsolete device performances which may be lower than the
new Emax 2 ratings. Consult ABB for further details.

The kit has been designed to preserve existing switchgear door and its operations functionality.
ATTENTION !
The instructions concern the sole assembly of the retrofitting kit. They do not substitute for the instructions in the
installation, operation, and maintenance manual of the Emax 2 circuit breaker document number
1SDH001000R0002. If optional auxiliary (secondary) circuits are required, refer to section 11.

MAKING THE SYSTEM SAFE FOR INSTALLATION
The following warnings and precautions must be respected before installing the door adapter with switchgear door.
ŸDisconnect the power from the switchgear (power circuit and auxiliary circuits) and verify it is disconnected
from all sources of energy.
ŸDouble check to ensure that the line has been placed out of service.
ŸPlace the switchgear housing and the circuit breaker out of service.
ŸSet the circuit breaker to the open position with the springs unloaded.
NOTE: The trained personnel in charge of handling and lifting must use appropriate safety equipment.

ŸCut the door along the hatched lines and
drill in the positions marked by the holes
(fig. 3).
ŸIf a flange for the legacy circuit breaker exists on
the door, disassemble and dispose of it (fig. 1).
Modification of the Switchgear Door

ŸThe retrofitting kit comes complete with a
template for making the Emax 2 circuit breaker
cutout and dust guard hole pattern.
ŸAttach template (B) as shown (fig. 2) to the
inside of the legacy door. Align the legacy
circuit breaker center line with the center line
of the template.

ŸAssemble the Dust Guard flange and screws
provided with the Emax 2 circuit breaker onto the
modified switchgear door (fig. 4).

ŸComply with the instructions in that manual for commissioning the new circuit breaker.
ŸInstall the Emax 2 circuit breaker into the CiC adapter per the instructions in the Emax 2 installation,
operation and maintenance manual 1SDH001000R0002.
